Shameless on SBS

Shameless and Southpark's Christmas Critters was a wonderful Christmas double!
Frank's drunken monologues are the best- much better than Her Majesty's Christmas message!!Really made the day for me.
Just what I needed after a load of Christmas rellies who don't like each other and only needed a couple of drinks to start telling each other so!

The fourth series begins here in the UK next week. The Gallaghers remain at the centre of it all, but the Maguires will have a much bigger role this year (alot of them have been recast with more high profile actors too!).

Frank's ex-wife Monica also returns as a cast regular, but unfortunately we will lose Sheila at some point during the series

To coincide with the launch of the 4th series, C4 have launched their own My Space style spoof for the show:

Don't think spoilers are too much of a problem - but treat with caution.

Also, Skins, a new teen drama, from the makers of Shameless is launching on sister station E4 in the next few weeks, and it looks pretty promising.

More info and clips at http://www.e4.com/skins - worth mentioning this teen drama will have alot more in common with Shameless than The OC!

Don't forget to watch it tonight if you've never seen it before.

10pm on SBS. it's the first episode of the 3rd series. Enjoy.. :)

Tonight's ep was a classic. Great build to Frank in drag and Sheila with that big black thing both breaking into the next door bedroom with their lodger's "client" exclaiming "what sort of houshold is this?"

I dunno, I was a bit disappointed.. the storylines were great, but there was really no depth to the characters and there were too many stories with not enough focus on only a couple of characters (with Kelly classed as new although I know she's not). I mean, there were stories about Marty, Lip, Sheila, Frank, Ian, and there were three new characters at once. Not enough Kev and Veronica, not enough Frank and Sheila, not enough depth to the relationship of anybody. And who is Marty's girlfriend? I couldn't have a crap about her, she's kind of annoying. Loved Marty and Lilian best though.

It's like they're trying hard to cover up the loss of Fiona and Steve. I really hope it slows up a bit. The best bit about Shameless is that I love the characters, but I don't feel much for most of them anymore, and the ones I do haven't really got much on.

First episode to kick the new series off you kind of have to expect it to be a bit hetic with new characters and storylines. How funny was Marty getting dressed up it the salior suit and sad about Ian and Kash. Glad this show is back.

Don't worry - the third series does pick up.

I'm here waiting for the 4th now - starts tomorrow on C4 and although there have been some cast changes (mainly minor characters getting more prominent roles), it's looking pretty promising!

I agree the plots aren't as good so far. I miss Fiona and Steve, but I love most of the others. Like Debbie. I hope she gets more attention. And Sheila is hilarious: "Its just a normal family home"...lol.

Can't stand Marty's g/f. Didn't he start seeing someone at the end of last series? I thought she was more together than that.

I hope I'm not getting mixed up here, but I think series three we're watching in Oz now is a rerun? If so then there's a great episode coming up involving a stolen bracelet and the Maguires along with Frank and the rest of the family caught up in the mess of the Maguires getting VERY heavy. Must not be missed.

I've been rewatching series 3 over the last couple of days in advance of the series 4 premiere tonight, and it soon picks up and you forget about Fiona and Steve.

Sue is Marty's girlfriend from the end of series 2 and although never particularly likeable, she has more of a role as the series gets on - and is pretty crucial to Marty's character.

The Maguires feature heavily in a couple of great episodes, while the outstanding episode of the series is probably the one which centres around Kev and Veronica. There is also a pretty unexpected twist in the final episode.

Not sure how many Maguires there are supposed to be - I think they said Mandy and six brothers, who rotate between living at home and in prison. They seem to be recast each time they appear, or different brothers at least.

And now they're joining series 4 as cast regulars, they've been replaced with estabhlished actors!

P.S. Agree about Debbie - I think she's probably the most crucial character in the series.

all i have to say is poor frank last night lmao......
ian always looks as though he is about to cry, really shits me
i just want lip to have a nice girl
sheila is just ****ing funny

I'm restraining myself here from revealing too much but series 4 debuted tonight here in the UK with the first couple of episodes and was back to laugh out loud stuff - especially...

With the Maguires moving in next door - they probably got the funniest scenes of the night!

Also some hilarious stuff with the new copper who has joined Stan on the estate.

BIGGER SPOILER:
It's a shame though Kev and Veronica didn't get a bigger exit - they did film their final scenes - but it was literally a couple of scenes. A good exit storyline, but they should have got the Fiona and Steve treatment.

Also now the kids are growing up they are getting more prominent roles. In series 3 you'll notice Carl becoming a much more important character, while Liam has had more lines in the first two episodes of series 4 than the first three series!

And great news - much more to come with it now confirmed the fifth series has been commissioned and doubled in length to 16 episodes as the show relocates to a new permanent set.

And if they're building a permanent set, I doubt they're going to use it for just one series either!

I won't be reading any spoilers - I could have downloaded series 3 on the internet but I held out for SBS. Shameless is the only show on tv ever where I felt like I was rewarded for something just watching it. Ok, and maybe Melrose Place.

My favourite characters are Kev (corr blimey I'd give him one), Veronica (love her to death), Marty, and Sheila. I loved Steve most, and Fiona next, but that's over and done now. Let it go, let it go.

ps. Marty's girlfriend is the wife/exwife of Craig - the father of Fiona's child and of whom we never saw again. Schade that, he's a damn sight better than Marty's girlfriend.

I just sounded like a bitter old person.

Seems a lot of people and not just me must be confused about the Maguires if they juggle / recast them. Although they seem the sort of clan that might breed like rabbits so maybe there's a lot of them.

Now that Sheila's agorophobia (or whatever - fear of going outside the house) is well behind her I actually like her character and think she's really funny and she's certainly one of my fav characters.

(Sorry OT this bit)

Autobahn: good taste! I was a HUGE Melrose Place fan. Can you believe I watched it in an Islamic country and the only censorship was the translated text in the local lingo as well as the hottest part of certain scenes. People used to crowd around TVs and watch it and then AFTERWARDS complain about the promiscuity. Then watch it next week again!

You're right there - I think you are rewarded for waiting for the episode.

I promise I'll shut up about the UK series now but just to let you know it returned with record ratings last night of 3.5m - usually it hovers around 2.5 - 3m! It's also been very well received on the forums.

Hi peoples.

Shameless is the best show on TV.
The only show that I hang out for and get pissed off if I miss it. So glad I got the first episode of the series.
Frank and Sheila how funny was that?
Poor old Marty, I think Lillian is a crack up.
How was Karl? 'How much is Lillian offering?"

Wish his GF would get a job and stop upsetting Debbie.
They are trying to cover up for Fiona and Steve, the show certainly isnt dead without them.

The Maguires look like they will be pretty nasty this week. The old man looked very upset in the preview.

Oh come on Monday night allready.

Thanks for all the info Brekkie Boy, though I'll be skipping the spoilers too. I hope they do cycle actors through the Maguire boys' roles - that would be funny. It would seem like there's zillions of them, they are Catholic after all...lol.

I really enjoyed this weeks ep. Never thought I'd ever say this about a bashing scene, but how gorgeous was it when new dad Lip was beaten up in hospital, smiling proudly the whole time. It was strangely beautiful, in that Shameless kind of way. And Frank - gawd. After Lip had his outburst about 12 yo Debbie's life being over and Frank finally says 'I was going to buy her something with the winnings', what a waste of space. Mind you, with Fiona gone Lip is the oldest offspring, and he leaves everything to Debbie too. I hope Debbie has something good happen for her soon.

Kev and Veronica and the 'hot tip', and the deaf kid signing from the bottom of the building - hilarious.

Can't wait for next week.

As I've said, I'm a year ahead of you lot here and we're now already half way through series 4!

Not going to say anything as I don't want to spoil things for you, but it's bloody good at the moment - and the promo for next week looks a cracker! Ratings also up this year - over 4m in total watched the last episode, up from an average of 3m last year!

I'm being so good in not revealing any spoilers, but the current fourth series is absolutely fantastic - without a doubt the funniest series yet, mainly due to the Maguires, and one Maguire in particular!
