On IQ there's been a bunch of research lately that one of the big things IQ measures is how adapted you are to the modern world.

This is why if you take a poorer less educated area of a society, or even a less developed country. They will score lower then middle class westerners. However people from those areas, societies, races ect. If they grow up in a middle class western societies. Any differences in the average IQ disappear.

So there's a bunch of variables beyond if you're intelligent that IQ tests measure. They are also completely bias to our modern western world. Even in the western world, various other factors about how you're adapted to the world, not your actually intelligence alter the outcome of tests.

Basically, an IQ test measures how good you are at IQ tests. How useful! A high IQ and intelligence certainly aren't mutually exclusive, but one is not an indicator of the other. And success is something completely different. Success in real terms is measured by each of us in many, many different ways. (/personal_opinion)

Or to put that differently, out of 7 billion people in the world, 70 million are in the top 1%, a bit over three times Australia's population.

The truth is Homo Sapiens IQs and capacity for symbolic expression and logic went up when the Neanderthal genes were introgressed. Think about it, why the explosion in symbolic expression only a short time ago.

My son is in top 1% of population.
He could count backwards from 1000 when he was 4, but I thought that was normal. lol

I also teach a lot of gifted kids.
They tend to have social problems, and quirks..more like Bradley I guess, than Michael.

Michael doesn't technically have a genius IQ, he has an above average IQ. I also have an above average IQ (137) and am definitely not a genius lol. I didn't finish high school let alone go to University. I consider myself to be very average in every aspect of life and the fact that the result of a standard test put my IQ a little bit higher than most doesn't define me. I'm also sure it doesn't define Michael either. We all say/do stupid things sometimes regardless of how 'smart' we are but thankfully we're not all on national TV.

Why would anyone, let alone a 4 year old, count backwards from 1000? What does that say about anyone? What does it achieve?

How long does it take? Didn't he get bored?
