Michael - genuine genius, or something else?

I have a ranga mate he is about 6 foot 7 140 kilo and no fat ya want me to organise a meet?

Michael doesn't technically have a genius IQ, he has an above average IQ. I also have an above average IQ (137) and am definitely not a genius lol. I didn't finish high school let alone go to University. I consider myself to be very average in every aspect of life and the fact that the result of a standard test put my IQ a little bit higher than most doesn't define me. I'm also sure it doesn't define Michael either. We all say/do stupid things sometimes regardless of how 'smart' we are but thankfully we're not all on national TV.

An interesting thing too is that Michael used this as his secret so he must have bought it up with BB but then played the "Oh I don't like to be called a genius" card. Umm..yeah right, if he didn't want to be labelled with it, why did he bring it up in the first place. I do wonder if the genius tag was Michaels or BB's. I'd bet it was Michaels. I'm no psychologist but that behaviour even sets my pop psychology spidey senses tingling.

I think the chit rayned down on rangas is unfair in Aus it originates because they are limited in sun exposure ie bronzed ausies

Didn't he say his IQ was 130-something? That's genius level, but only just. And it's a long way off the 170s and 200s posted above.

He's clearly a smart guy, but like many smart people, suffers from quite a bit of apathy.

he needs a sheep dip the man looks feral and dunk josh while yr at it

I posted this in another thread on this.

I'll post it again.

It's about Mensa but applies with IQ tests.

How funny is this?

I have just started a new book Hour Game by David Baldacci and bugger me if on page 32 when talking about a serial killer it says "..Bundy reportedly has an IQ of over 120. Well the man behind the wheel of the VW possessed one north of 160. He was a member of Mensa, he did the New York Times crossword puzzle every Sunday with ease..." It is thanks to you that I know that Mensa is not a University, and a high IQ means can mean diddly squat!

Ha!

I used to work for a guy who was in Mensa. He even had it printed on his business cards along with his degree. (yeah..I know!) He used to get this newsletter thing from them all of the time and it had puzzles in it and he could never do them. It was hilarious because we (the staff) could. I think Mensa takes the top 2% so that's really not an exclusive club...it's 1 in 50 people. Being eligible doesn't make you extraordinary. Being a member is pretentious intellectual snobbery....and it's funny.

If anyone has ever done an IQ test they would know that are skewed towards favouring people that are good at logic, which relates to interpreting patterns, deducing outcomes from a limited set of information without ever having to guess the answer. This also means that they favour those that are more mathmatical, and those that would use algebra in everyday situations.

But there are also many language questions where you need to know the meaning and correct context of a variety of words. It can often seem like there is more than one correct answer, but again there should only be one logical answer (i.e. there would be a trick with one answer that only seems right).

Believe it or not, there only a small proportion of people that have both high level logic and language skills. When they do, provided that they posses the necessary social skills to play well with others, they are often really successful.

I'm a specialist engineer with 2 post graduate masters degrees and spend most of my time with top lawyers (barristers, QCs). Sometimes i'm surprised how stupid they can be, even though they might be at the top of their profession working in a field that relies on technical experts. They're are often 100% humanities based and can have trouble with basic mathematical concepts like percentages and probability (and other stuff they would have learnt in year 9). Seriously, I have one top barrister that always says "explain it to me like I'm a twelve year old" - and he's not kidding.

On the flip side, they think most technical experts are illiterate which is also a fair representation at times.

From what BB has been prepared to show, Michael only has the language skills and can frame an argument but not that much common sense. He could have so been a lawyer rather than a copywriter!

I agree Zephyr. It's not just what you have, it's what you do with what you have. My husband has a brilliant aunt yet she does stupid things like forgets to pay her bills or forgets to shop for food or go to appointments. Whilst she is brilliant in her field, left her her won devices she would barely function in the real world. Her husband does all of the everyday stuff for her. So as smart as she is..she's a dumb as a plank in a lot of areas.

Then you get someone like my sister in law who dropped out of school at 15 and who is what you'd call a schemer or street smart. She used to work for a government department and would openly say she spent most of her productive time working out and taking every possible entitlement she could. Now as a stay at home mum, she spends her time working out how she can wrangle every possible Centrelink or Council benefit, while her husband works for cash.

Maybe she's a genius, but one thing is for sure it pisses me off.

I lack good social skills and could not succeed in the workplace. That motivated me to spend the last twelve years working on something by myself. Theoretically I have solved a puzzle that means I am now the best in the world at something. In fact I am the best ever. The practical side is starting to kick in validating this. Never done an IQ test, I know its above average but find advanced symbolic mathematics too much. So its probably between 110 and 140. My strength is in spotting patterns.

I think Michael is smart, but not that smart. However, I think he thinks he is the smartest thing ever! But as he is faking the act of a funny person on BB, he has to act not that smart.

What's that Skip?

There is a man stuck in the well on the old MacDonald Farmstead and he's unconcious?

Lot's of insecure and jealous people posting in this thread.

If it doesn't matter.. why are you acting so jealous and insecure?

It's like when a homophobe tries to act like being gay isn't a big deal.. but does it in such a way, that to them.. it clearly IS a big deal. Sometimes you have to look at people's actions and not the words that they are saying.
