Masterchef 2023 - Series discussion

Entree...Declan...not good.

Didn't look good to me either and a bit of an ordinary choice imo.

Main...Rhiannon...it looks good to me...good dish but sauce has too much spice...overpowering.

Main...Declan...fish cooked well but the sauce is "lifeless"...not looking good for him.

Dessert...Rhiannon...judges loved the wobbly panna cotta and her dessert in general.

BUT if I hear her say one more time "this is me on a plate" I WILL scream!

Sincere apologies for multiple posts and waffling...I'm off to get dinner now...might be chiko rolls (haha but I don't have any never do!) or some other shit...haha!

Had a feeling it would be a male female grand final.

It has to be diversity.

Gutted for Declan, and for us as viewers.

Looking back, you can see it was set up from the start.
They never invite old contestants back unless they can promise them a full redemption arc.
And the only thing standing in Brent's way was... Declan.
So the first time Declan has any faults in his cook, they pounce.

I wish I could be enthusiastic about the grand finale on Sunday night but frankly I'm apathetic - as others have said, the win for Brent has been guaranteed from the start pretty much, it's a redemption arc of sorts I guess or a triumph over mental illness(as the producers might term it).
No denying Brent's very good, but he just does the same thing, challenge after challenge, there's no variety there.
Rhiannon - ugh! Enough said! She's no competition to Brent, unless he totally stuffs up the pressure test and if it's a dessert too.
When Declan hurt his hand, the writing was kinda on the wall, but hey, Declan actually didn't need to win the show, he's totally marketable and employable, I bet he ends up with a TV contract or he and his mate Robbie do something together in that medium. He's the one contestant who showed the most growth in the entire series.

Actually I think I will watch Dancing With The Stars instead on Sunday night, this is one Masterchef finale that I think will be fairly pedestrian and mediocre, even though it will be edited in such a way to give the appearance that Brent is somehow in some trouble or Rhiannon has a chance lol

What even is a lifeless sauce?
I don't want my sauce dancing on the plate and looking at me.

So in this case 'lifeless' = we have to find some fault so we can get Rhiannon into the finale to guarantee no one beats Brent

Yet Jock ate all of his dessert.

Sunday night will no doubt consist of endless shots of Cath cheering on her friend from the gantry and narrating most of the program too.
Brent will cook yet another octopus or fish or steak on the hibachi grill, and Andy in particular will claim it's the best thing Brent has ever cooked in the masterchef kitchen.
I can't even get excited about the supposedly "most difficult pressure test in masterchef history" - Rhi Rhi probably has the advantage there, as she's OK at desserts and she's done more of those difficult challenges than Brent, who let's face it has been given a leg up by the judges the entire series. Never mind, they will have ensured that Brent has a big enough lead after round one that he doesn't need to stuff up too much in round 2 to win the title and the money.
I assume Declan gets a cash prize of some sort for coming 3rd, that's usually the thing in the finale. I so hope he and Robbie do a TV series together, cooking around Australia and especially the Northern Territory for instance.
What they haven't done this series is the usual fun episode, in which the judges have to cook from a mystery box compiled by the contestants - I wonder why Channel 10 omitted that one?

If social media is to believed, a lot of people say they won't even bother watching on Sunday night, so perhaps Ten won't get the mega ratings for a Masterchef finale they have got in previous years?
