Last movie you saw

I'm dying to see Cloverfield. For once hype has really got to me. No doubt the film will be crap, but I've got to see what that monster is.

At least shakey cam syndrome will be expected since the film is told from the perspective of a personal camcorder. Shakey cam shits me to tears otherwise.

If you just want to see the monster , i have a pic of it...

I want to see Cloverfield too, but no, I'm happy to wait to see the monster.

There's another one of these "Blair Witch" movies coming out soon too... "Diary Of the Dead". It's the next movie in the whole "Night of the Living Dead" by George Romero. Zombies filmed by a Documentary maker.

shizzle, you don't know know for sure if it's the real one. There's about 10 different designs floating around out there... it's all speculative at the moment. No one will know for sure until the movie comes out. My personal favourite, which has been discounted as a fake is the 'whale' design; would have loved to see that in the movie.

Atonement

I found it a bore, and an emotionless movie
It just kept dragging on and on and on..........and on

Simple story line set in the 1930's. About a 13yo kid Briony who has a girly crush with Robbie who in turn is in love with her sister (Cecilia), then betrays (jealousy?) them both by lying to authorities that she saw Robbie raping one of her friends, when it was someone else. Of course the end result having Robbie sent to prison away from Cecilia.

The continuous "history" revisits were in the main a pain in the ass, once, twice, fair enough, but it was done throughout the movie. The continuous beach army scene was great. Though Im not sure what relevance it had to the movie. Maybe to portray Robbie as a hero? rather than a criminal prisoner?

Was looking forward to a good movie that made you think, but at the end of the day I was dissapointed. I was not the only one. Others walking out of the cinema felt the same.

3/10

Yeah,we all knew what it was going to look like anyway - Big and angry looking.
This movie is loosely based like Godzilla(old ones) anyway.

I will say this though, shizzle, thoughs are drawings and not actual photos and the footage shows the monster's body and a tiny bit too.

So it's still speculative.

Link doesn't work for me, and hasn't since last night - but I'll take your word for it since others have been able to access it. Is it the one from bloody-disgusting.com?

Went and saw "Alvin and the Chipmunks" today. Ridiculously cute :D, I was actually astounded that I quite enjoyed it lol

That was the last movie I saw after Chrissy. Loved it to and very annoyingly had 'I told the witchdoctor..." in my head for days after!! Chipmunk voices and all!

At the drive in we have a screen up in the diner that plays the movie previews on rotation so every 10-15 minutes we see the exact same thing....over and over and over and over and over.....umm yeah you get the idea.
Anyhoo, the short clip of them singing Funky Town is played and i've been hearing it for the last week and a half and it's embeded into my head. Even if i have a night off it's still there....i think i'm quietly going insane....

Very cute movie though :)

You know that Dromana drive in? Heard there was a fire down near there last weekend.

Cloverfield looks like it will be cool.....

But one little niggle: How can one monster take out a whole city?

Where's the air force and missiles and things that go bang?

American Gangster
Was good, but could have been great.
Denzel Washington gave a solid performance, as always, but the script had a more ruthless character, a tightly controlled but damaged individual. Washington is better at enduring, enlightened and compassionate characters, and the occasional violent outburst seemed out of character, not a part of the character.
Josh Brolin gives another superb performance, and the dodgy detective he plays is one of the most complex and interesting characters in the story. It's a pity the script did not make more use of him. I am sure the real life person was even more complex and interesting.
And you can't defame the dead, so the script writer could have let rip with impunity.
Russell Crowes Bronx accent is not convincing, but his character is. And in spite of the huge transistor technology walkie-talkies and bugging devices, it is not a convincing recreation of the seventies, let alone Harlem in the seventies (or at least, it is not like the Harlem I remember seeing occassionaly in the news and in music documentries , on black and white TV, in the seventies).
Ridley Scott does a lot of the old Hollywood tricks, like gratutous sex and violence, and sanctimonious but graphic prurience when it comes to drug use, but on the other hand, there are those touches of genius - like his use of coffee cups, which I just have to love.

Yeah there was GB, pretty darn close in fact. The drive in ended up hosting all the fire trucks on their scheduled stops for rest and drinks/food. We had emergency service vehicles everywhere. They were still there at 9.30pm. THe fire wasn't properly put out till the next morning.
Luckily only one hay shed was lost and it was caused by a tree coming down onto power lines in the extreme wind we had.
