Last movie you saw

I did. It's much tamer than the book. Think Sex and the City Samantha level of sex. I suppose with a rating of MA15+ it wasn't going to be too racy.
I wouldn't say it's bad but she is very annoying. She was annoying in the book too. The best bit for me, apart from his apartment and some great aerial shots of the cities, was Officer Doug from Dawson's Creek. An all too brief appearance. I laughed out loud in a few places too. No idea which ones though.

I actually really liked the movie.

I couldn't stand the main actress though - she was annoying as.

Birdman. Spoilers. Be alert, not alarmed.

I have just seen Birdman and went with high expectations. I guess I'm just a bitter, twisted, cynical, old bat because I was hugely disappointed. An egocentric actor (nothing magical about that realism!) wants to be taken seriously and has a massive nervous breakdown. Everything he sees points to his moment of populist fame, even the bandages after he shoots himself in the nose. He can't quite get anything right. He doesn't die during his first suicide attempt, but the jellyfish clearly do. Even the shooting in the theatre is botched.

Birdman passed the time amusingly enough, but I found it very static. In terms of story arc, I thought the whole thing ultimately flatlined. It finished as it began.

As for the ending, I actually think that he had shot himself in the nose and was imagining the great reviews. When the painkillers wear off, he'll be back to being that guy that played Birdman back in the '90's. Sorry to be so sour.

Michael Keaton was great, though. Edward Norton was better. And it was great to see Servilia again.

Sorry but I don't agree with the description you've pinned on the critic, but it did deliver a smile :)
Edward Norton generally gets me in, so will be interested to see it some time.

The book is the same. It is like it was written by someone who wouldn't know a decent fuck if they fell into it.

Chappie

I really enjoyed it. Some stuff with characters is a bit choppy. Some of the plot points kind of disappear and come back. Aren't fully developed, but the flaws aside, I really enjoyed it.

I watched The Maze Runner the other night.
I had low hopes for it but I actually LOVED IT!!! I really think that it should have been much longer but never-the-less I will watch it 10,000 times until the next two come out! :woot:

I had low hopes for it but

I recently checked out the Divergent films. First one was quite a surprise at how good it was. Some teen stuff which was a bit... as well as some internal logic and world building stuff that didn't hold up to any examination. However was quite entertaining and interested. Saw the sequel Insurgent and it was also quite good. Moved things a long quite well.

So this is my surprised and quite liking it teen novel book series made a movie series.

I keep meaning to check out maze runner.

I've explained elsewhere how I still enjoy YA fiction. The divergent series has been a good read. I'm about half way through the last book. Haven't watched any of the films yet. I don't like the films painting the pictured for me, I prefer to let the author paint the picture with their words first. So I will watch the movies when I have finished all the books. I had to do the same with Hunger Games.

As someone who hasn't read the books of Divergent of Hunger Games I must say that I only saw the first Hunger Games film and considered walking out. I did not think it was very good. There was stuff I found interesting but didn't get enough of. From what I gather all that stuff I found interesting about the world and characters is in the books. So not having read the books was a detriment for my interests.

Never bothered with the sequels.

Divergent though, they are what they are, but I enjoyed the films and so obviously as a film viewer only, preferred both to the first hunger games by a considerable amount.

Fast & Furious 7

Will not disappoint fans of the franchise. It's not perfect, but once the action kicks in. It is non stop fun. Incredibly fun if you buy into the unbelievable world. Just back, get into the thrills, the excitement and the laughs. They are super heroes. The Paul Walker stuff was well done and they did a great job giving him a send off. He will be missed from the films.

Exciting film.

Get hard.

Was a stock standard Will Farrell movie. I enjoyed it... Having said that there were way too many dick jokes, OK I get it dicks are funny... But come on comedy writers come up with something a little more high brow than the dick jokes....

Also who the hell brings a child/children under 10 to a movie like get hard? I swear at one point I heard a fucking baby in the cinema...smh...
