Last movie you saw

The Proposal 6/10, the love story was a little too abrupt, not very well developed but Sandra Bullock is lovely.
District 9 9/10, Although i loved Avatar IMO this is a much richer story and incredibly moving i was close to tears on several occasions.
Drag Me To Hell - 6/10, I understand the love for this film, it reminds me of the campy horrors of the 80s but having said that the main girl was such a weak actress and call me old fashioned, i like my horrors scary.
Cashback 6/10 - Interesting film but i did find the nudity depiction a little chauvinistic.

Too Young To Die? starring Juliette Lewis & Brad Pitt (much younger, but he's come full circle with the dodgy beard)

re-watched District 9 last night.

Good film!

I still find it interesting the way some people just couldn't get into the film and it's the same with avatar, because they couldn't connect have sympathy for the alien characters.

I just found the "District 9" allegory with apartheid a bit like sledgehammer symbolism. It was cartoon like, as were the bugs. Couldn't get into the hand held camera style in the first 15 minutes - the other problem was I was on a plane and really wanted to watch "The Changeling" also.

With "Avatar", awesome film. Some people are just hardcore geeks and killjoys and always picking over things for faults. Or they're a Christian and see it as some kind of affront to their sensibilities. 😵‍💫

I was visiting an internet movie forum again, and the head moderator was whinging about the battle sequences in "Avatar". This is rubbish, he opined, why would the humans fly a shuttle at low altitude where the aliens (without any strategy) could just fly at them on dinorsaurs? Wouldn't the humans just fire bombs from on high?

Yeah, that's right, Einstein. Do that, and there's no friggin' movie.

I watched "The Changeling" yesterday..
interesting story and although i <3 Jolie i thought she was a bit over the top n some scenes, but anyway
i highly reccomend it

I saw It's Complicated with Meryl Streep and Alec Baldwin. I really enjoyed this movie, nice, entertaining, no big morals or splashy effects, good story. :)

Meryl is a genius.

Raiders of the Lost Ark
I don't know if it was just me but the pacing seemed off for this. It was just unusual. It's an enjoyable film, however. Possibly the best of the trilogy.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Weakest of the trilogy despite the fact it has some of the coolest action sequences. The mine cart sequence is possibly my favourite of the whole trilogy. Indiana's love interest in this film was very annoying and why did he have a 12 year old sidekick?

Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Love this one. Sean Connery is so hilarious and made this movie better than it would've been without him.

D-9

Loved it.

Excellent Stuff.

Cheers PJ ... it reminded me a bit of "Bad Taste" here and there though. ;)

Ok, it reminded me A LOT of that movie - but that movie also was Excellent Stuff. :)

arent there 4...you know the one with aliens?

"Pelham 123" or whatever it was.

Meh.

Currently frequently have a LOL to "Up!" while LSCP snoozes on the couch next to me, and I catch up with some AGW-ing while sipping on some Red Wine.

[EDIT] Okay, just finished watching "StarWars III - Revenge of the Sith" on Channel 10.

Best chapter of the entire 6 movies I reckon, and tonight made even more enjoyable for me by mentally substituting "Left" everytime the "Sith" was said or talked about. :) :)

I loved that movie and I agree, Meryl is a genuis!

I loved that scene when she was in the elevator and noticed the tattoo - that little squinch of her nose spoke volumes.

I even love how she has such flair with scarves - some women can wear a scarf and it looks fantastic, no matter what they do with it, others (me) wear a scarf and it looks like a rag around your neck, or a dish cloth over the shoulder.

^^ it also made me laugh, whenever she felt uncomfortable with man, up went the droopy eyebrow.

Raiders is the best. I personally don't see anything wrong with the pace. Maybe it's due to things improvised during filming. Like the whole chase with the truck and indy climbing on it. That was not in the script, but on set they though a car chase would work here.

I really have a hard time deciding which i prefer between Last crusade and Temple of Doom. I still think temple of doom is one of the best prequels ever though. I probably do prefere it over last crusade because last crusade has a bit of a different feel and is a little bit too comical and polished compared to the others. Nothings wrong with short round at all!

The fourth one, i want to like but i've only seen it twice. First time I was just in shock of... wtf have they done. When i watched it on blur-ray i wasn't as I was hoping being able to just be swept away and not care. So many decisions in the script and execution of that film that is wrong. I hope for the fifth one that they correct these. There's just so many retarded things. Why show the alien right up front? why not keep a mystery to, do the skulls really have power, what is that power, is it really alien or not. They never needed to explain the source of the sankara stones power in temple. They would have been better just having human skulls that had powers. The frickin psychoic spy who then needs the traitor in indies party to drop glowing christmas tree lights so she can track them.. driving off the cliff?? Even all the set pieces seemed dull compared to what spielberg can and usually does. The stupid cinematography decisions. Trying to replicate the original films so shooting things as if you weren't going to add cg, then adding cg anyways except having it look shithouse because none of the steps to make it look good were taken. The over use of sets when locations could have been used is another thing. Matching the kind of fake look for sets like in the originals, is fine, but when you decided to start using sets when you would have used real locations in the original... then don't light those ones like sets.
I don't even have a problem with Shia and stuff. I dunno film was just made oup of bad decisions.

The Mummy is a much better india jones sequel than crystal skull. Can't believe people rubbish that film as crap. It's excellent. Sequels I can understand lack of fondness for though.

The Breakfast Club

Just as good as when I watched it for the first time back in 1984. I hired it, but now I will definitely buy it.

And I really like Temple of Doom.
It's got a great start to it, and I was cool with Short Round and Kate Capshaw (who Spielberg married for a while) was pretty hot. And they lay on the gags good and fast, though it does get a bit freaky when the high priest pulls a beating heart out of a victims chest.

The Informant

Was not as good as I was expecting but I quite liked it. It just started off a little slow, but the pace picks up and it keeps getting better as the guys lies, stories and so forth get more and more unbelievable. So by the end it was very entertaining.
For those that don't know, it's based on a guy who was fairly high up in a food component manufacturing company who then turns to be an informer for the fbi on the company. He just however can never get everything straight, can't follow instructions, tell the whole truth, it's just quite remarkable. He's really quite delusional. I'd love to know how much is real how much is not, because by the end it's like... wow.. Interesting little character piece on this guy. I know most of the main deals are all real, but how close and some of other smaller bits, how real they are would be interesting. I may have to read the book.
