Last movie you saw

I saw Bruno yesterday, mainly to kill time (it was either that or Hanna Montana) and wasn't expecting much since though Borat made me laugh hysterically occasionally it made me uncomfortable more often and I figured this would be much the same with different outfits.

I now have a new respect for Sacha BaronCohen - he is totally fearless in his craft and while the first half(ish) was kind of predictable from watching all his interviews/promos I was laughing incredulously by the second half.

Are all those people for real or actors? Those parents of the model babies were insane, so were the gay converters. My favorite bit was the rednecks at the wrestling. ...oh and the dominatrix - he looked truly terrified.

I finally decided to catch up to the rest of the world and watched the Twilight dvd that my daughter got for her birthday a few months ago. I thought it was a good watchable movie. Not the best movie I've ever seen but certainly worthy of a few hours of escapism.

The Hills Have Eyes

The remake one.
Picked this up on dvd had a urge to watch some sort of horror, idea sounded decent. It was ok, but lacked much suspense. It was entertaining but it follows the same annoying flaws of being too unrealistic. People doing things which are not how people would react.

The plot is, a family driving through the New Mexico desert has a crash away from civilisation and is attacked by mutants.

It just wasn't all handled with enough care. Don't get me wrong it was enjoyable but just not as much as I hoped. From the handling on explaining what the mutants were from the begining, the lack of care with the reveals lead to their being no mystery or anything. Also why being mutants does that give you super human pain tolerances and strength?? While I had fun watching it, not too much fun, and yeah.. I have the sequel as well i've give that shot.

Well, I took the kids to Transformers at Imax today. Maybe it was the 60 bux for the tickets, maybe I was just tired, but it was just 2 hours of pointless explosions. The design of the Transformers makes it really tough to make sense of the random movement on the screen.
And then there's the stupid twin racist jar jar binks bots...

No sir. I did not like it.

Karaoke that's exactly what i thought about the twin robots. As soon as they spoke i thought i was having some weird flashback to The Phantom Menace. They reminded me so much of Jar Jar Binks. I'm glad i'm not alone in that.
I really enjoyed the movie (what can I say I love big robots saving the world) but they really were an addition I could've done without.

Then I noticed Wayne's World was on and i'm so glad it was as good as i remembered it. I LOL'ed so much i thought i might wake the household

"The Hangover", with LSCP.

Mostly, "meh", but I must admit that I was distracted for much of the film thanks to a wafting and pervading stench of BO coming from either someone nearby or maybe even the very seat I was in (no, it wasn't me).

It certainly added a "smellovision" aspect to a film full of hungover characters running around unshowered for days on end in presumably hot and sweaty Vegas.

It provided the odd laugh, and was an ok filler in of spare time, but nothing to rush out and see.

Adventureland
I thought this was pretty wonderful. Jesse Eisenberg and Kristen Stewart had amazing chemistry and their characters were three dimensional so their relationship felt very realistic. Stewart is a fantastic little actress, she's going to be a big star for sure. Well, apparently she's in those Twilight movies but I have no urge to see those anytime soon. But she portrayed the angst-y confused teenager part absolutely perfectly.

Greg Mottola really knows how to write and direct films about teenagers. He also did Superbad which was beautifully done and I think he topped himself with this one. I can't wait to see more films from this guy.

Also, the soundtrack was incredible. The Replacements, The Cure and Lou Reed all featured (some more than once) which was so great. This movie made me feel nostalgic even though I was only alive for the last few years of the 80s. Great film, and probably the best I've seen this year.

I saw Sunshine Cleaning and really loved it.

I loved the girls (especially Norah), the talking to Heaven through the CB radio, the one armed man and his models, the Siamese kitten, things going bad and it being dealt with, and The Spirit in the Sky.

Bradley Cooper (Hangover) plays struggling photograper Leon Kauffman who's obsessive pursuit of dark subject matter leads him into the path of a serial killer, Mahogany (Vinnie Jones) the subway murderer, who stalks late-night commuters - ultimately butchering them in the most gruesome ways imaginable.

Um this was fucking disgusting! I loved it! lol

I'm quite desensitized to horror movies but this one had me cringing in a few scenes, and Leslie Bibb is hot!!

Revolutionary Road - rather boring
The Reader - Ok a bit weird at the start with kate and the young boy. The storyline was not really fullfilling. But Ok.
Rachel Getting Married - quirky but actually not a bad film. Not really a fan of Anne hathaway but i can see why she was nominated for an oscar in this.

Ohhh yes i've been looking forward to this too. I think it's been out in the US for awhile and Clive Barker's website hasn't said much about it over here.
It would've been very gruesome.
