I'm off to watch Planet Terror again...
But the thing is the fake film at the start "Machete" looked like that might have been better had that been the real film hehe.
Robert Rodriguez is planning on making Machete into a real movie!

Cool . I think he should have as well. Maybe he should have made Planet Terror the fake film but I'm happy it will become a real film.
Loved the hospital scene with El Wray and his knives
Machete starts filming in June

Hey is planet terror horror or horror comedy?

A satirical tribute or the b-grade horror/action genre???
Best i could think of.
Not a plain a horror film. Doesn't set out to be a funny horror, as horror comedy would suggest. It's just meant to be a big fun piece of entertainment that incorporates these b-grade movie genre's and the fun experience.

That helps I think.

I have all of my dvd's sorted into categories.... and the ones like Scary Movie which are horror comedies have their own section..... so that's what I was wondering if this could be put in there with the horror comedies
Wolverine
It's an enjoyable, entertaining film. It's not great, but you're constantly enjoying it. A big issue is, there is so much you wish was expanded upon. Honestly, you could make several movies that take place in the first 30 minutes of this film that would be awesome.
What I hope is, that they do some spin offs, include wolverine, but he's not the focus, or a smaller role for some of the other story elements. There's some cool as characters, which get little screen time who's own movies, intersecting with this would be a brilliant move in creating a living breathing comic book universe.
Over all, the film seems to skip over a lot, never really developing any of the aspects. I think it's a case of the story was too large for one movie. I gather this film was really done just to establish a wolverine franchise and then go for it after.
I was entertained through out, never bored at all, there's lots of action, which is all good, although there was no really cool stand out scene.
Biggest gripe is, the story of the film, literally could have been a trilogy, and in doing it so fast, it just was all too superficial, and leaves you with wanting it all to be developed. Wanting to see a movie of wolverine in various world wars, wanting to see that mutant special forces as it's own movie ect.

Watch The Bad Mother's Handbook here - http://video.google.com.au/videopla...QBo6mwgON1cnDAw&q=bad+mother's+handbook&hl=en
Direct viewing on google videos, it's a great little BBC movie about 3 generations of women/mothers.
Stars Catherine Tate, and Robert Pattinson - of Harry Potter/Twilight fame as an adorkable dork.
I just saw The Boat that Rocked, it was great fun, loved the cast and the soundtrack is superb.
It dragged in the middle a bit, first and last sections rock. I hated the the politician bits, and they should have given it a broader perspective - I mean I wanted to know more about this pirate ship stuff, that could have been much more itneresting and exciting. But genrally enjoyable and some very cute youn Brits in in plus fabulous Bill Nighy.

X-Men origins: Wolverine, at Midland ACE Cinemas 8.30 session, last night (Saturday).
Thanks to our ACE membership, the total cost for LSCP and I including tickets, a medium popcorn and drink each and a choc-bomb, was $20.40
At this rate, alleged "Greater" Union might never see us again !
The movies is an ok intro/prequel, although the ending perhaps could have been done a bit better. i think it made the mistake of trying to cover too much ground too quickly - but perhaps it was better that way rather than weighing us down with too much detail and backstory upon backstory, particularly seeing as there is probably going to be some overlap with the other "origins" stories to be told.
Anyway, tis important that you wait until all the credits are finished.
Here is a spoiler re: the after credits clips. People have reported seeing one of two clips as the second clip, but the same one as the first.
[edit] LOL, I've just read down to up_all_night's appraisal and it would seem we are of similar view re: "expanded upon" and to much story travel over too little time.

The first/common clip is Stryker walking until his feet bleed and being brought in for questioning over the death of the Major.
The second after clip you will probably see is Wolverine in a Japanese bar, drinking to remember rather than to forget. An alternative after clip is deadzone's hand reaching out for his own severed head in the ruins of the nuclear facility.

Ocean's 11
The 2001 remake with George Clooney and various cohorts.
I have never seen this movie in it's entireity so imagine my surprise when I start watching it and it's actually good fun. I enjoyed it right from start to finish.
7/10
Blame It On Rio
The story of two best friends and they all go off to Rio for a holiday of sorts. One of the best friends has a deep crush on her friends father and Rio being Rio where the sun, surf, and beaches leave nothing to the imagination she sets about seducing the man and I think it's said that they "did." Of course you don't see the deed but it's hinted at that they might have done it, and much comedy happen before and after this with mixed messages confusion. Some funny dialogue and delivery from Michael Caine who is funny for an old fart.
A young Demi Moore in this in one of her first movies, and Michelle Johnson who was a teen movie star in the 80s
6/10 Valliant effort for trying.

Last film I saw was The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
It's a Holocaust movie, so you know it's not going to be cheerful. But this was especially not cheerful.
A really interesting angle on the Holocaust though, as it also included the perspective of the Germans, which is not one you usually get. The main character is an 8-year-old boy whose father is a senior officer at a concentration camp - the family move to a house near the camp and it's interesting to see the different ways the family react to what's happening near them (though, they have different levels of knowledge). The boy eventually wanders to the camp perimeter where he spots a boy his own age who is an inmate (ignoring the fact that there were no children in the camps because they all got killed, but anyway...).
Really good performances and I liked the way the film was directed.
Needless to say, despite the main characters being children, it's not a film for the kiddies.

17 Again was much much better I really enjoyed this film. It was so light-hearted and so typical yet it was just a nice humorous flick! Don't go see it expecting to see something uve never seen before, as its been done time and time again; however, if u like this sort of storyline as uve seen it b4 in other movies id recommend it!
17 again was the last movie I saw. It was great and just a nice way to pass an hour or so and there was lots of laugh out loud moments - even Mr TBJ laughed a lot even though he rolled his eyes at me when I said I wanted to see it. And damn it - Zac Efron was really great in it.
"I see your schwartz is as big as mine" is a line that is regularly used in our household!Spaceballs.
I got it ages ago cheap on DVD but never got around to watching it.

Today I watched Gran Torino. Much better than I was expecting, but really creepy at the same time. The main character reminded me so much of my Grandfather that it was hard to watch at times.
