Last movie you saw

I think it was a good idea but just not accessible enough for the majority of moviegoers. It's a shame, I would've loved to see that double feature. I think they were released separately here.

I just watched the trailer for Inglorious Basterds. This ain't no Schindler's List, that's for sure.

He does seem to be going away from the sleek style of Kill Bill though. This looks like camp exploitation Nazi Germany style.

When I watched Planet Terror recently, I checked out one of the extras featuring Rodriguez and Tarantino talking at Comic Con 2006.

Rodriguez seemed very cool and knowledgeable. A very low key, humble guy. But Tarantino was repulsive. Arrogant, self-idolising, geeky, and in your face LOUD. Basically no different to how he behaves in his various cameos.

Death Proof, was of course, seriously flawed. I fear lessons may not have been learnt.

I think Tarrantino believes his own hype

For the very first time I sat through all of Mean Girls last night.

Hmmmm had some funny bits but overall not that special.

the girls were hot though, did like the black chick and the girl with black hair. She rocked.

Tarantino's a very polarizing dude. You either love him or you hate him. He does come across as obnoxious from time to time but I really admire his passion for cinema, which really shows in interviews and such that I've seen. So I think he's a cool guy. He probably should tone his personality down a notch, but otherwise.

Tarantino definitely does believe the hype. I quite like Robert Rodriguez, he just seems like a guy who loves making films and is good at it. Whether it's Sin City, of Spy Kids or what have you. Tarantino could never turn around and make successful fun kids movies. Where as Rodriguez seems to be making films for fun, and having fun with them Tarantino always seems as if he's trying to make cult classic, and he gets way too self-indulgent.

Indeed. The onlly film of his I have ever liked at all was Pulp Fictioin.

All the Tarantino movies I've seen have been good at the very least. Death Proof is the only one I haven't seen and it probably will be awful but I'm sure I'll find some enjoyment out of it. I'm in the minority but I think Kill Bill is his second best film. It's got a great stylized feel, the action sequences are brilliant and there's never really any dull moments. Reservoir Dogs is a good movie too but I feel it's overrated. It was great the first time but isn't very rewatchable.

I still never watched kill bill part 2. Have them both on dvd though. I found the first half decent, but not great and badly paced. It is a case though of him having one movie, and spending less time editing it, to release it as two. It was planned to just be one movie, and shot to be one.

Kill Bill is my second favourite movie, beaten only by Pulp Fiction, i would seriously consider watching the second if i were you, the pacing is slower and more in depth, even though i have no problem with the first ones, and its very different. I actually liked that its seperated, you feel different when watching them.

I absolutley love Death Proof, no its no Pulp Fiction but it has a certain charm about it, i didnt like it the first time because i expected to much of Tarantino, but when i watched it again it blew me away just how entertaining it is when you really listen to what there saying.

Tarantino is a genious in my mind, and I'm really looking forward to Inglourious Basterds but that trailer wasnt that great, Brad Pitts acting was horrible, and near the end were he steps into the camera i cringed. But i did like the other scenes in the trailer.

Ive read the first part of the script and it was amazing.

Part 2 has more of a story and it's not as violent! You have to watch it! Especially the start when something happens and you think "how the fuck is she going to get out of that?" lol

Me too. They pushed back the release dates as well. I first saw a movie poster for it in Hoyts and they were promoting as the double feature. But obviously, it bombed in the US and got it's release date pushed back here and then seperated into two films.

They did a few drive-in movie screenings of the original "Grindhouse" feature.

yeah i know they played the double at the astor in melbourne, but having seen both the longer films, i figured why bother going.

Watched Jackass 2.5 last night.. was funny, if you like this sort of thing.

Death Tunnel. Terrible terrible "horror" movie. It was apparently based on true events.... BULLSHIT. It was set in a sanatorium that was a plague hospital that people died in 90 years ago. That's about where the true events stopped. It was just 5 girls walking around, then attempting to constantly be dramatic, and scary, with ghosts, quick editing, loud noises when it cut to be dramatic. No story. Then each of the girls was meant to die in a way that nurses there died or killed themselves or something. ****ing terrible. Literally one of the worst movies i have ever seen.

Today I saw "He's Just Not That Into You". It was alright, but not what I expected. With the cast it had I was expecting Drew Barrymore, Jennifer Aniston, Jennifer Connelly and Scarlett Johanssen to be the main focus of the movie - this wasn't the case. Instead, the main character is 'Gigi' played by Ginnifer Goodwin who is a relentlessly annoying character and a very typical romantic comedy protagonist.

The best character in the whole movie is the one played by Jennifer Connelly (who is, admittedly, the best actor in the cast). She's the only character you really feel anything for and I think the movie would have been much better if this character was the central one. Jennifer Aniston's character is also well done and played and her, along with Jennifer Connely's character, are the only one's you feel actually learn something when all is said and done.

Scarlett Johannson's character is a despicable (but undeniably gorgeous) bitch, but the movie has real problem characterising her as she does all this horrible, manipulative stuff and the movie attempts to portray her as a naive, lost girl when she clearly knows and accepts the horrible things she's doing. We're supposed to feel that Bradley Cooper's character is the villain of the piece - despite the stuff he does being no worse than what she does.

Drew Barrymore's character is non existent and her only point in the movie is to provide a nicely rounded subplot for another character. Another annoyance I have is that this character eggs Scarlett's on to do the horrible things she does - but we're supposed to accept her as a nice girl deserving of true love. I think the movie is clearly intended for a female audience - with most of the males at one point being portrayed as bad or misguided people.

In the end, I think it's worth seeing for the few well portrayed characters in it and the fact that it's not a movie which blindly gives everyone a happy ending - no matter how much you think that character deserves it. I also have to praise it for how tight it keeps it's story considering how many characters and subplots there are. The story starts very simple with two people and flows very nicely out to include all of the characters as they unknowingly (or knowingly) affect eachother. I'd probably give it a 6 or 6.5 out of 10 (mostly for Jennifer Connelly).

I saw Changeling, with Angelina Jolie as a distraught mother whose son goes missing in 1930s Los Angeles. Directed by Clint Eastwood. As I heard a person comment during the credits 'it wasn't really a feel good movie'. It was well made, and Jolie's performance was convincing enough. But yeah, not very edifying.

Pride and Glory left me a bit flat too. A New York cop family, facing a crisis of corruption. I wanted to leave the narrative the film was unfolding, and investigate another focus. I felt there were interesting things happening that I wasn't privy to. At least there wasn't the cliché court scene.

Oh I also watched Titanic for the first time in a long time the other day. It annoys me the film gets payed out so much just because it was so popular and won so many awards. It's a great, very emotional movie. It gets me every time I watch it. I think people misconstrue it's Best Picture win - I'm quite sure it was the sheer technical side of it that got it the Best Picture.

Cool you've made me more interested in seeing Changeling. I had wanted to but now I'm going to..

I love Titanic :D I watched it a few weeks back. But I'm a bit of a Titanic nerd in general, so I think I love it more for the actual Titanic story than the love story.

Makes me cry everytime I see it though. :(
