Jade 2013 Appreciation thread

Did the families opinion change of Jade towards the end of BIg brother?

Only when they realised that Jade was helping Ed stay in the house by keeping him relevant. Even on some of the post that they might have said something positive about Jade it was quickly follow with some passive aggressive comment about her.

Jane Doe we just have different assessments of the Lower boys and how they work.
My assumption for the Lower boys is that they are used to be around people who think (and act) the same way they do. They have great difficulty seeing other angles.

I think Nick (and Ed by osmosis) never really got the outrage over their comments about Jade. They, and I imagine most of the people they talked to, saw her as a Stage 5 Stalker. They wrote "humorous" posts about it, and then were shocked at the backlash. Even when they kinda backtracked, I saw it as mostly a "Well, Ed seems to like her, what are you gonna do?" shrug, like they thought Ed was going crazy because of the house, but really didn't want to say more at that point, because to do so would make HIM look bad.

In their lives, the Jaded thing is long past. Jade's their "friend", so she won't say shit about what used to be on the website, nor will anyone else who is close to her. Ed's come through the breakup, as unofficial as it is, with a better image than before, and they are moving on. One possibly small hurdle to get over, but all the bad stuff is gone, so that's really not an issue, (and I bet it's pretty much a joke within that crowd anyway) and it's done.

Their calculations are limited to the scope of their lives and what they want. They've made numerous miscalculations, starting with the whole "Win a Date with Ed", and they'll continue to make more because they are not brilliant strategists. They are smart enough to know some things, but not smart enough to take into account that which they don't know.

You are right they are not brilliant strategists, they thought they had won BB before it had even started and already decided what cut Nick would get out of the prize money.
Ed couldn't stick to the 'no relationship' strategy.....he was all doe eyed at the family dinner when 'Drade' were still 'married'...the first week!
That blog was vile and for Ed to bring it up again just brings back all the dislike for that crew.

Let's hope that Jade has the last laugh!

Give em hell Jade.

I wonder what type of jobs they're for.

Well considering how much actual scripted shows there are in OZ and the fact that Kat Stewart is in almost all of them. I would assume that these auditions must be for very small roles or perhaps for commercials. Nothing wrong with doing commercials, I mean the actress who plays Ronda does a lot of TV work. I'm happy that her career is moving along nicely, you have to start somewhere.

I'm picturing Jade at the Logies in a few years while Ed is at some pub having a binge drinking session with his brother. I can dream right? LOL :)

There's actually a lot of local dramas in production and pre-production at the moment, moreso than any other year post the reality tv boom, so it could be something good. I wonder if it is Channel 9 stuff or if she is free to explore other networks now her contract is up. Surely Channel 9 would be looking out for her?

I can see what you are all saying - and while I haven't minded seeing Ed's updates, the one opinion of him that has not changed is that he is just not that sensitive.. or emotionally mature.
I'm not convinced that he even considers it would be a problem to post the blog.
I don't know if he's considered all angles and is using it as a promotional tool. I certainly don't think he would have thought it through to the big picture on how it impacts on someone other than himself.
I think I'd need to be convinced that he'd calculatingly do that. When I first saw it I thought.. typical bumbling fool that we saw on the show..

Just my thoughts anyway.

I agree, that's what I thought too.Maybe he thought the sanitised version could be used to generate more interest(his window of opportunity is closing and he could be desperate) especially in countries that are only just started the showing bbau. It's a stupid and selfish move because it's dredging up all the controversy that comes with it.

that's good to hear there might be some opportunities for a drama. i'm not up on australian scripted shows, and was wondering what options she has.

I'm assuming along those lines as well, however they must be something okay considering they weren't just open casting calls and she had to actually get the auditions.

I'm assuming she'd be free to explore other networks considering Rohan did a small part on an ABC show and had an audition for Neighbours. I hope so anyway. I'm not the biggest supporter of Channel 9 to say the least.

I was hoping it was something more substantial than just commercials(not that there's anything wrong with it).
I don't think she'll be restricted to Channel 9 or even TV shows. There're alot of movies in pre-production so you never know.An example would be Rohan,he was lucky to be offered a role in an Australian Indie Horror film this year.

I suspect only Tully, Ben, Tim and Tahan have been contracted to Channel 9 (eg. Tully and Tim's today show stuff, Ben's Mornings stuff, Tahan and Getaway, and some of the comments by Alex after the show) which, like you, I think is a good thing for Jade (and probably not a good thing for the others) because it opens up more options for her. And I don't think many programs on Channel 9 would fit Jade's persona and look (lots of crime stuff).

That's good for Jade if she is free to explore other networks, Channel 9 does do a few good dramas like Underbelly and House Husbands (not that I have ever seen either, but they seem popular) but the more networks, the more opportunities. Commercials can pay really big $$$ for a featured speaking role, so if that's what the castings are for at least she will be able to generate a bit of a income. I don't think her agency is particularly good, but her mangement team do seem to have her best interests at heart and her name and face is out there, so she should be able to get recognition in the industry. The local industry is small, so if she makes a good name for herself, word will spread (this is also true in reverse... bad reps spread even quicker)

Agreed. It doesn't look like 9 is giving them anything that is going to sustain any of them financially (expect for maybe Tim because he does a couple of things) so if Jade wants to survive long-term in the industry then she's going to need to have as many options open as possible. I know when she left the house her mum said she had offers lined up from Channel 9, but I hope she used her head and turned them down if it meant she was going to be locked to them where she wouldn't get enough work. Also if it wasn't what she wants to do (the BB HMs still on 9 all seem to be doing presenting/media stuff which I don't think Jade has any interest in).

Its kind of cool when you have been away for a couple of days, then you come back and there are lots and lots of posts on the JA Thread. I just killed a couple of hours catching up LOL.

Where to start, wow. Happy to see Jade getting a couple of auditions. As jessy_girl said above there is plenty going on in Film and Television in Australia at the moment so although it will always be hard at least Jade is getting her name out there and hopefully in front of a range of casting agents, you never know what is around the corner.

Interesting couple of tweets referring to her mate Dan. I must say I know nothing about this guy never even heard of him until he was mentioned here. Some of you guys seem to know a bit about him, no matter whether anything romantic or otherwise develops I hope he is a good guy. Silly isn't it. I don't even know the girl but sort of feel protective of her. I guess that is part of her charm, you just want nice things for her.

As for this blog run by Nick Lower which Ed has apparently just been made aware of. Again I am not really familiar with the whole thing but I take it that Nick and his sister and the flatmates said some not so nice things about Jade while the show was on. I'm glad they have removed those potentially offending posts because that tells me that they recognise they were wrong and have done what they can do to get rid of it. That strange blogger girl Leesa was fairly outspoken against the Lowers, and frankly I find her waffling to be full of shit so I'm not going to hang the Lowers and there friends for things they may have said. I know I have said some pretty silly things in the past and changed my mind about a person when I got to know them.

I'm not really against Ed, I kind of understand what he was up to and he sort of dug a hole for himself with Jade while the show was on. I do think he is most probably not a bad guy, just not suited to Jade. He handled the situation poorly but it could of been much worse if Ed was a bastard. As for the group that Ed hangs with, they are not really my cup of tea, I see them as almost sort of yuppies (there is a word not used often anymore) whereas Jade is much more down to earth fairly simple classic Aussie beach girl. I guess one of the reasons I like Jade so much is she reminds of the girls I grew up with around the beaches in the 80's and 90's. She seems so unpretentious and natural.

Jade has picked a hard industry to make a career from. I hope she can follow her dreams and make a living from what she loves doing. That is really what we all want from life, so I shall be hoping and hoping she has every success in the world.

Thank you all for taking the time to keep Jade information freeloaders like me up to date. I would be lost with all the tweeting and instagramming stuff if it were not for you lovely people.

Cheers

@EdJLower when are you next coming to Sydney?!

Ed Lower ‏@EdJLower 34m

@AllyKarpin not to sure!! No plans anytime soon. Hopefully that changes

I have taken this as official confirmation they are over and have unfollowed Ed on Twitter knowing now there is no chance they will turn up together. I feel so relieved.
