Jade 2013 Appreciation thread

If I had to guess, I think it's possible that she unfollowed him because of the Valentine's blog. Here she's done her best to keep discussion of their relationship as quiet as possible and he namechecks her in the first blog, then announces his single status over and over in the most recent one. Considering that this came so soon after the "Ed gave her the flick" video that we know upset her, I can only imagine she felt a little beat up.

Aside from the always leading with her heart, one thing I think that gets Jade in trouble is that she doesn't get mad and demand better treatment for herself. When others hurt her, she tends to take it internally, ultimately placing blame on herself for her "stupidity" or her "weakness" in having been hurt. Until she stands up and says, "I deserve better and I'm not going to accept this kind of treatment", she will continue to be an emotional punching bag for some people.

It's interesting to see the parallel and contrast with Tully. Tully demands so much from people and is constantly disappointed that they don't live up to her expectations. Jade demands so little from people and is constantly disappointed when they live down to her lack of expectations.

The last 2 paragraphs exceptionally true Jane! Jade is so sweet... Tully is not.

I want to know what happened with her unfollowing him and changing her pic and then this 'close friends' business. Maybe it was the emotions of Valentine's Day talking.

Anyway that's Jade I guess, she's not perfect, plenty of times I had to look away when watching her on BB but it's what makes her human...we've all done stupid things in life, especially at that age. (well I have anyway) lol

I so agree about having to look away, and I don't believe people change overnight, so I'd expect some of the same behavior to resurface. It takes time to figure ourselves out. Do I hate that yet again it's one person going on about the other? Certainly. But, that too is something that will work it's way out of her system. For me, the interview had nothing to do with her being nice. It read to me that she still has feelings, which is completely understandable. Like you've said, we've all been there. One day, the answer will just be that they're good friends. But, like you, I let out a little oh, Jade when I read it. Sadly, I think Ed might still have more power than he deserves, where she's concerned. She'll get there.

Ps, Loving the pics and vid from the weekend. Glad she is having such a good time.

Absolutely true.... I believe she still holds a torch for Ed, for sure :( Where does that leave Dan poor guy :( I think Ed's still her first choice if she had the chance, but you may not agree with me..

It's hard to say because we only have some pieces to the puzzle but I think you could be right....actually I'm confused about the Dan thing maybe they will see how it goes when he gets back from his trip. In my heart I hope that she is over Ed and she was just being nice about him when talking to the reporter. I thought we were done with Ed at Christmas! :(

I hope Ed's ambiguity does not stop her from seeing that other guys adore her. I hope between Nathan, Rohan, Xavier, Tim and Dan's compliments, she realises she is worth more than that.

Do, I think she'd be up for trying things with Ed if he was for it? Yep. I think she's still in that zone, and that is what I meant by him having power over her. I'm sure others will see it differently. I'm of the mind that sometimes the biggest gift a person can give you is to turn you down. It forces us to move on, even when we don't want to. So, even though I feel like she'd be game to be with Ed, I think she is realizing she can't put her life on hold. I've always said, Ed was different to Jade and she pinned everything on the fact that he wasn't like the guys she had dated. I have also always said, with experience, she will find there are LOTS of nice guys out there who will be deserving of her. Dan may very well be the first guy since Ed to show her there are many nice guys out there. Because she built Ed up, SO much, I think it's not so easy to just let go. But, certainly meeting new people will help the process along.

Hmm, see I genuinely don't think it's about guys in general. I think it's about a more romantic thing with guys. That is what seems to have done her in. I never got it was about male friends.
 
When I showed my son the article about Jade and how Ed's supposedly helping her out while she's in Adelaide, he said "More like helping himself to some free publicity in his home state, riding on her coat-tails, just like he did in the house. He has no shame...just uses her when it suits him and the silly girl lets him."

I hope he's wrong (but I have a horrible suspicion he's right) and that Jade isn't sucked in again. :(

He's hardly 'helping her out' he gave her his fathers phone number incase she got lost. That's it.
Ironic really, since all he really wants is for Jade to get lost.

I think for a lot of people, you often want the attention from the one person that won't give it to you. I do think that was a lot of Ed's appeal to Jade, especially in the beginning. The whole thrill of the chase increasing someone's perceived worth.

I was reading a really good book the other night called "Essays in Love". This passage reminded me of Jade:

“We fall in love because we long to escape from ourselves with someone as beautiful, intelligent, and witty as we are ugly, stupid, and dull. But what if such a perfect being should one day turn around and decide they will love us back? We can only be somewhat shocked-how can they be as wonderful as we had hoped when they have the bad taste to approve of someone like us?”

I don't think it's an SA thing, not that I've noticed anyhow. Ed just has an odd abbreviated way of saying 'girl', sort of like HELL but with the hard G in 'girl' obviously.

In other words Ed doesn't seem to make a distinction in how he pronounces Hurl and Hell, they both would almost sound alike.

If Ed ever meets a girl with pearls who he twirls until she hurls.
How would he describe the situation to other people?
 
In view of Nathan’s twitter stuff about Tim last night and today, I’m kind of forming an idea of what might have led to Ed’s ‘I’m single’ barrage and Jade unfollowing him. It’s just an idea, so may be totally baseless.

Both Ed and Jade have maintained a respectful silence over their breakup for 2 months, then Ed suddenly deviates from the script – just days after Tim’s prank video. In the video Tim says that Ed broke it off – this does make those who thought he was using Jade nod their heads and say “I told you so”, and Ed would have gotten some flak for it. If Ed and Jade had an agreement to remain silent and not comment, Ed may have spat the dummy at Jade for discussing it with Tim (not his biggest fan) and assuming she provided details that made him look bad – and decided that all bets were off and then written his blog not caring how it would affect Jade. Jade, already upset and angry at Tim, then gets hit with Ed’s public “I’m single” declarations out of the blue and is blindsided by Ed suddenly not following their agreed stance for no apparent reason, and unfollowed. Or, they may have had a fight about it after the video was put, which influenced how Ed wrote is blog. Jade gets to Adelaide, talks to Nathan (who is friendly with both Ed and Jade) who may have smooth the waters between them, and a middle-of-the-night re-follow happens.

Nathan is pretty angry about that video and Tim using the other HMs.
