USE of the word “slut” in a classic Roald Dahl story has seen the book removed from a supermarkets shelves.
Aldi has reportedly removed Revolting Rhymes from sale after customers complained about the use of the word.
The book only went on sale this week but customer reaction was swift, Fairfax reported.
A spokeswoman for Aldi said a small number of complaints were received by customers worried about language in the book, which led to its removal.
Other books by the famous British author will still be stocked.
Revolting Rhymes is a collection of classic poems originally published in 1982 that takes well known fairy tales a funny revamp.
“Who’s this dirty slut?”, is used in a modern take of Cinderella
The Merriam Webster defines slut as a promiscuous woman or a slovenly woman.
Customers have reacted furiously — and hilariously — on Aldi’s Facebook page with their opinions of the censorship.

After a post about a mystery product that was deliberately blurred several people asked whether it was a “Road Dahl book”.
“Let’s burn it, just in case it’s a Roald Dahl book. We don’t want children to read the same stuff we grew up with. Look how we turned out!,” one customer wrote.
Another said: “Dear Aldi, you practised censorship yesterday, bowing to the opinions of a small number of people who unfortunately did not appreciate Roald Dahl’s humour in his classic ‘Revolting Rhymes’. You have also contravened the worldwide policy of ‘Freedom To Read’. Now, that’s truly revolting! Reinstate the book in all your stores, please!”
One of the books also on sale was about dinosaurs, leading one customer to say: “They have not yet censored the Dinosaur book so luckily they are not creationists

Mmm... yes! Did anyone happen to notice the title of the book 'Revolting Rhymes' sort of gives you a hint at what you might find in there. Shouldn't really be surprised to find a word or two you might not like

Poet brings world leaders to tears at UN Climate Summit

And me, listen...she is sublime, a light

The UN Climate Summit has been graced by the likes of actor Leonardi DiCaprio and US President Barack Obama, but the haunting words of a young mother from a tiny Pacific Island nation have made the most lasting impression.

Spoken-word poet Kathy Jetnil-Kijiner, 26, from the Marshall Islands, was just one of four people chosen from 544 nominees to address the opening of the UN Climate Summit in New York.

@derspatz, please listen:)

From here: http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs...ter-pilot-dropped-bombs-on-the-islamic-state/

saudifighterpilots.jpg

Maj. Mariam al-Mansouri, the first female fighter pilot in the history of the United Arab Emirates, led the the Gulf state's bombing raids over Syria this week. Photos of al-Mansouri, beaming from her cockpit, that were released by the country's state news agency have taken social media by storm.

saudifighterpilots2.jpg
The 35-year-old squadron commander was likely part of sorties that dropped bombs on Islamic State positions in Syria's Idlib, Aleppo and Raqqa provinces. Some reports suggest that she even spearheaded her country's mission, which complemented the parallel efforts of four other Arab states backing the U.S.: Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Bahrain and Qatar.

According to a profile in the National, the Abu Dhabi-born al-Mansouri harbored an ambition to join the air force since her teenage years, but had to bide her time until women were permitted to enlist. She graduated Khalifa bin Zayed Air College in 2007 and is now a veteran F-16 pilot.

In earlier interviews, al-Mansouri has insisted that she received no special treatment because of her gender. "Everyone is required to have the same high level of combat competence," she told Deraa Al Watan, a U.A.E. magazine.

It's not clear how vital her and her compatriots' efforts were in the air campaign against the Islamic State, which is entrenched over a vast swath of territory in Syria and Iraq. More important was the sheer fact of her presence. "While Arab participation in the strikes is of more symbolic than military value," writes the Wall Street Journal's Ahmed Al Omran, "analysts described it as a bold move for a group of countries that for long preferred to act via proxies instead of any direct involvement."

bombedbyawoman.jpg

The symbolism of a female fighter pilot bringing the heat to the women-enslaving Islamic State ought be lost on no one and is useful propaganda for the Emiratis. To that end, Saudi Arabia also released pictures of its pilots who took part in airstrikes, including Prince Khaled bin Salman, the son of the kingdom's crown prince.

What religion are you talking about this time?

My immediate reaction to your post, is he attacking her as he assumes she is Muslim.
You don't make any sense, do you?

I see, this is how you remain ignorant, and SHOUT your religious fanaticism

Your loss.
Of course you couldn't appreciate the composition of outstanding artistic merit even if you disagree with the sentiment, sign of an uneducated philistine.
Again your loss.

And for future reference the Marshall Islands is quite religious, and Christian overwhelmingly.
MI is a democracy with very strong links to USA.

And here this is why @derspatz chooses to ignore a inspirational representative of what is HAPPENING because we fucked up the climate.

In 2008, extreme waves and high tides caused widespread flooding in the capital city of Majuro and other urban centres, located at 1 metre (3 ft 3 in) above sea level. On Christmas morning in 2008, the government declared a state of emergency.[27] In 2013, heavy waves once again breached the city walls of Majuro.

In 2013, the northern atolls of the Marshall Islands experienced drought. The drought left 6,000 people surviving on less than one litre of water per day. This resulted in the failure to grow food crops and the spread of diseases such as diarrhea, pink eye and influenza. These emergencies resulted in the United States President declaring an emergency in the MI. This declaration activated support from US government agencies, under the Republic’s ‘free association’ status with the United States, which provides humanitarian and other vital support.[28]

Following the 2013 emergencies, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Tony de Brum called for countries to turn the crises into an opportunity for climate leadership. He demanded new commitment and international leadership to stave off further climate disasters from battering his country, and other similarly vulnerable countries. In September 2013, the Marshall Islands hosted the 44th Pacific Islands Forum summit. De Brum proposed a Majuro Declaration for Climate Leadership to galvanize concrete action on climate change.[29]

The Marshall Islands are threatened by the potential effects of sea level rise.[30] According to the president of Nauru, the Marshall Islands are the nation ranked as the most endangered due to flooding from climate change.[31]

Regards

What religion are you talking about this time?

Climatism, Greenazism, Environtology, Totalitarianism, Left-ardism, in short, the usual lucifarianism and corresponding hubris you appear to favour and support.

As for the Marshall Islands, etc, if they weren't so busy pumping out ground water then they could avoid some of the more obvious affects of subsidence. As for the coral reefs, virtually globally and certainly in the areas of the all the usual island suspects, they're doing their usual thing of not only adapting to the usual cyclic rise and fall of the oceans but also, as per usual, doing it faster.

Anyhoo, the claims of the climatists / greenazis / environtologists are old and similarly have been debunked from virtually word go.

As per (quick google): http://climatism.wordpress.com/2013/09/04/44th-pacific-sinking-islands-extortion-forum/

"Alarmist cries of rapid sea level rise and Pacific Islanders losing their homes are completely unsubstantiated by empirical evidence and peer-reviewed science. The catastrophic message essentially stems from statements by the thoroughly discredited Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and promoted vigorously by Governments pushing their own climate agenda and vested interests angling to cash in on climate guilt."

and: http://wattsupwiththat.com/2010/06/...ming-driven-sea-level-rise-are-opportunistic/

"An Auckland University researcher has offered new hope to the myriad small island nations in the Pacific which have loudly complained their low-lying atolls will drown as global warming boosts sea levels.

Geographer Associate Professor Paul Kench has measured 27 islands where local sea levels have risen 120mm – an average of 2mm a year – over the past 60 years, and found that just four had diminished in size.

Working with Arthur Webb at the Fiji-based South Pacific Applied Geoscience Commission, Kench used historical aerial photographs and high-resolution satellite images to study changes in the land area of the islands.

They found that the remaining 23 had either stayed the same or grown bigger, according to the research published in a scientific journal, Global and Planetary Change.

“It has been thought that as the sea level goes up, islands will sit there and drown,” Prof Kench told the New Scientist. “But they won’t.

“The sea level will go up and the island will start responding."

When someone has to link to a blog and a website funded by the oil industry instead of actual scientific publications, lol

I spent a lot of time debating climate change with Derspatz quite a few years ago. He is not interested in facts, he's got some strange religious conspiracy theory. He also used to post that Obama was the anti-christ and he doesn't believe in evolution. It's all wrapped up in some strange world view that end of days is coming. Which also folds into his unwavering support of Israel.

Climate change to him is some satanist lead conspiracy to enslave the world. Orchestrated by the likes evil scientists who would try and disprove god by claiming the earth is more than 10,000 years old.

I used to debate with him as an exercise of self education. He'd say something absolutely silly about climate change and I'd go and research the facts. Never would he debate on facts. He's use non scientific sources and copy complete misunderstandings and misrepresentations of legitimate sources from blogs and Andrew Bolt. When clearly explained the mistake, or why an argument was wrong. What factors and science was not taken into consideration. It was basically always met with silence.

The very fact the evidence, the science, the over whelming majority of experts said something, if it didn't fit his ideology. It was automatically wrong and not worth any consideration.

This is kind of funny in the wake of him posting the article about the strikes against ISIS.

Isis is terrible but they are just people with a warped ideology and view of the world. They don't think, they don't understand but their ideology tells them that what they are doing is right and will work. I think one of the first things ISIS did was ban the teaching of evolution in schools.

I wonder how much of an anti-christ Obama is now that he is starting new waves of bombing muslims. It's funny the mention of the symbol of a female pilot bombing the woman oppressing state of ISIS. When the next line mentions Saudi Arabia being involved. Which is a woman oppressing society and about as close to a caliphate state as the world would tolerate.

As for this action, it's not to destory Isis, it's to remove them from Iraq. The Saudi's who were funding ISIS and the Syrian rebellion only are involved if the action is only about removing them from Iraq. The plan is to push the rebels back to Syria. Where they will be left along to finish the job of ousting the secular dictator Assad at the expense of Christians and other ethnic and religious groups in the country.

As for talks of those that want to destroy our freedoms, Abbott and Shorten have done more in the past week to destroy our freedoms and way of life than ISIS ever could.

What tha ?

Just when you thought the world, especially Oz couldn't get any more insane, it turns out the Real Tax payers of Oz are going to pay a woman to do a PhD where the subject matter is the woman herself !

Like I said. What tha ?

From here: http://blogs.news.com.au/dailytelegraph/timblair/index.php/dailytelegraph/comments/margology/

A grand announcement from self-obsessed former Fairfax frightbat Margo Kingston:

It’s official, folks. I have a scholarship to do a Doctorate in Creative Practice at Macquarie University …

Thus an ex-nursing trainee will become Dr Margo! And you’re paying for it.

The thesis comprises a book for publication and an exegesis. I’m told the first year of the PhD adventure entails reading and thinking through exactly what will be tackled – whittling down the topic to something where one researches in depth and becomes a bit of an expert.

This shouldn’t be too difficult. The topic that Margo will deeply research for her tax-funded PhD is … herself:

The book will be a professional memoir which seeks to explain my journey from mainstream political journalist to Sydney Morning Herald political blogger and editor with Webdiary, website owner when I went independent in 2005, and my new project after a seven-year break, No Fibs.

She won’t just be Doctor Margo – she’ll be a doctor of Margo. This might be the most indulgent exercise in academic history. Let’s hope Margo’s expert in-depth Margo analysis covers the time she blew more than $40,000 in three months running a blog, her attempt to establish a Margolian legal system, her discovery that Jews controlled Australia and her whole decade-plus of paranoid gibberish right up to the moment she somehow gained taxpayer funding for a demented Twitter site.

By the way, now that they’re handing out doctorates in Margology, where’s mine?

... and mine.

lulz @ the thought of bored left-ardian wastes of space and oxygen choosing to do a degree in "dertralalashybonolology" coz it would be easier than using their time to do anything more immediately useful, worthwhile, and beneficial to humanity.

Lunar Eclipse on Wednesday 8th of October

As per: http://www.australiangeographic.com.au/news/2014/10/total-lunar-eclipse-8-october-2014-australia

Total lunar eclipse in Australia, 8 October 2014
  • BY Daniel Walker |
  • October 07, 2014
A TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE, the second and last lunar eclipse of 2014, will be visible above Australian skies on Wednesday 8 October.

The eclipse will commence when the Earth's shadow slowly creeps across the face of the moon until the moon is fully covered by the Earth's shadow before the Moon continues to move out of shadow.

In Canberra, Tasmania, New South Wales and Victoria the total lunar eclipse will be seen in the north-eastern sky from about 8pm (AEDT). The eclipse will be visible in Darwin from about 6:30pm, Queensland from about 7pm, South Australia from about 7:30pm and Western Australia from about 5pm.

Totality will occur from 9.25pm AEDT.

Unlike a solar eclipse, a lunar eclipse is safe to view by the naked eye, through a telescope or through binoculars.

What causes a total lunar eclipse?
A lunar eclipse is observed on a night of the full moon when the Sun, Earth and the Moon form a straight line, known as a syzygy. Like the lunar eclipse on 15 April 2014, this one will also turn the moon a deep red-to-brown colour, owing to light filtering through Earth's atmosphere, as it does with sunrises and sunsets.

The next two total lunar eclipses in this series of four will be seen on 4 April and 28 September 2015, though only for a few minutes for the first one and during the day for the second. This makes the 8 October total lunar eclipse the best one to see in Australia until early 2018.

Sydney Observatory will be streaming the Lunar Eclipse live at: www.sydneyobservatory.com.au
