In The News

The anonymous note was sent to 13-year-old Max's grandmother's house in Newcastle, Ontario, on Friday.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/08/19/karla-begley-autistic-letter-teen_n_3780378.html?utm_hp_ref=tw

Written by the grandma herself in order to rustle up attention, sympathy, and support, perchance ?

Did ya read of the tragic story of the pre or barely teen who hung herself the other month because of all the abuse she was getting in some sort of forum ?

Did ya then later learn as to who was writing a goodly proportion of that abuse to her ?

That's right, it turned out SHE was the author of her own abuse and was basically (and tragically) publicly conversing with herself.

Anyhoo, rather than be outraged by this latest bit of huffington, I'd wait to see what www.snopes.com has to say about it.

What the left-wing MSM "The Guardian" has discovered ?

"it's the boats, stupid !"

Even Real Refuges say so.

Quotes of the day ...

We hear the number of 50,000 people arriving on our borders illegally. What does that represent? The city of Goulburn NSW, has a population of 22,000 people. It’s a CITY. The boat arrivals to date since Rudd trashed our borders would fill 2 inland cities the size of Goulburn. The city of Tamworth has a population of just over 50,000. These illegals would fill a city the size of Tamworth. Now consider the houses we need to accommodate these illegals. On average about 18,000 homes. We have to supply electricity, water and sewerage to this city. Then we need to feed that population. And clothe and educate them. They need to have access to hospitals, doctors, specialists. Then there is council services like garbage removal.

Statistics show that after 5 years, 95% of illegals DO NOT WORK. So on top of the above we have 2 cities the size of Goulburn or 1 city the size of Tamworth where we house, feed, clothe, provide free medical and educate them and we the taxpayer are paying them to live this life!!

Meanwhile our pensioners are having to choose whether to heat or eat.

How gross is this? The boat arrivals represent a lose-lose-lose situation. They degrade their own country by fleeing it, they degrade themselves by cheating their way here and finally they degrade us or more specifically the Labor Government and its weirdo leader(s)because we allow them to do it and live off us.

It is intensely annoying that a person in another country can say “I am going to live in Australia” and we seem powerless to prevent them - this effectively degrades the very notion of being an Australian citizen, because evidently just anyone can be one!

Oh Joy, some of the 619 economic opportunist queue jumping country shoppers and/or ex(or current) military and/or ex crims and/or general undesirables, etc etc etc, housed around 30km down the road are starting to break out. :(

How long before more not only decide to scale the fence but also discover rural properties typically have firearms.

from here: http://www.watoday.com.au/wa-news/two-asylum-seeker-escapees-found-in-wa-20130821-2sbim.html

...

Two escaped asylum seekers have been found near an immigration detention centre east of Perth after a tip-off from the public.

Three others remain on the run after they apparently scaled fences to abscond from the Yongah Hill Detention Centre on Saturday.

The men were found at Bakers Hill, some 25km west of the facility, the Department of Immigration and Citizenship has confirmed.

...

There were unconfirmed suggestions the escapees may have received outside assistance.

The Northam community is said to be divided over the facility, with some saying the asylum seekers were welcome, but others were concerned for the safety of locals, despite the department saying the men were not dangerous.

And shire president Steve Pollard was critical of the department, saying it did not inform him of the escape and he instead found out through the media.

Anyhoo, not long before LNP is returned to Government and the country shoppers (et al) get TPVed and given the opportunity to be returned from whence they came and either go to the back of the queues at locations where Oz already obtains refugees from, or be forever denied settlement here.

What is the TRUE cost of climate change? Is stopping it early really the cheapest plan in the long run? 50 to 1 explores the costs of stopping climate change vs adapting to it as and if it's required, and uncovers a simple truth; it's 50 times more expensive to try and STOP climate change than it is to simply ADAPT to it as and if required.

Tony Abbott to launch inquiry into AWU 'slush fund'

JULIA Gillard and a raft of senior Labor figures could face being grilled by a judicial inquiry into the union slush fund scandal involving her former boyfriend.

Senior Coalition figures confirm an Abbott Government would establish a royal commission-style inquiry into the alleged misuse of up to $1 million in funds from the Australian Workers' Union.

It would have powers to compel witnesses to give evidence, with senior Coalition figures naming the former Prime Minister as one of the key political figures who would be required to appear.

Ms Gillard has consistently denied any wrongdoing.

Last night, former Attorney-General, Rob McClelland - who helped to reignite the 20-year-old scandal when he gave a statement to parliament in mid-2012 - pledged to "co-operate" with any investigation.

Documents filed in the Melbourne Magistrates Court confirm Ms Gillard is a focus in the ongoing police investigation.

The court issued a search warrant in May 2013 directing police to search Slater & Gordon's Melbourne premises. They seized documents including "personnel files relating to Julia Gillard including her invoices/billings, time sheets and travel records".

They also seized "partnership meeting documents pertaining to Julia Gillard and the (AWU)".

Record return of Arctic ice cap as it grows by 60% in a year with top scientists warning of global COOLING

Almost a million more square miles of ocean covered with ice than in 2012
BBC reported in 2007 global warming would leave Arctic ice-free in summer by 2013
Publication of UN climate change report suggesting global warming caused by humans pushed back to later this month

The Northwest Passage from the Atlantic to the Pacific has remained blocked by pack-ice all year. More than 20 yachts that had planned to sail it have been left ice-bound and a cruise ship attempting the route was forced to turn back.

Some eminent scientists now believe the world is heading for a period of cooling that will not end until the middle of this century – a process that would expose computer forecasts of imminent catastrophic warming as dangerously misleading.

The disclosure comes 11 months after The Mail on Sunday triggered intense political and scientific debate by revealing that global warming has ‘paused’ since the beginning of 1997 – an event that the computer models used by climate experts failed to predict.

In March, this newspaper further revealed that temperatures are about to drop below the level that the models forecast with ‘90 per cent certainty’.

The pause – which has now been accepted as real by every major climate research centre – is important, because the models’ predictions of ever-increasing global temperatures have made many of the world’s economies divert billions of pounds into ‘green’ measures to counter climate change.

Those predictions now appear gravely flawed.

...

The continuing furore caused by The Mail on Sunday’s revelations – which will now be amplified by the return of the Arctic ice sheet – has forced the UN’s climate change body to hold a crisis meeting.

The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was due in October to start publishing its Fifth Assessment Report – a huge three-volume study issued every six or seven years. It will now hold a pre-summit in Stockholm later this month.

Leaked documents show that governments which support and finance the IPCC are demanding more than 1,500 changes to the report’s ‘summary for policymakers’. They say its current draft does not properly explain the pause.

In short, the unelected swill in the UN (et al) who seek to rule the world and were trying to use the forever changing climate as an excuse to rob us all of freedom along with the proceeds of our own hardworking hands (including eventually even our so called "private property") have some 'splaining to do !

Sounds like the public servants @ "Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade" got used to high flying and high living while doing the bidding of 6 years of the so called "workers party / party of the working class"

Sounds like their own partying on tax payer coin is coming to an end.

Full article here, bolding mine.

Bishop cancels first class tickets to New York

Incoming foreign minister Julie Bishop has already clashed with her department over luxury hotel accommodation on an upcoming trip to New York.

The minister-elect told Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade bureaucrats to slash the cost of the trip after they planned to book $1850-a-night rooms at a swish Manhattan hotel for an entourage of dozens.

Ms Bishop also instructed DFAT not to book her on first-class flights when she travels overseas in her new brief.

It is understood departmental bosses want to take a delegation of 23 public servants to the United Nations leaders' summit on September 19-20 along with two ministers and three of their staff with the travelling party staying at the four-star Westin Midtown Hotel. The department planned to put Ms Bishop and her colleagues in a suite at the Westin as part of an accommodation package worth $132,048.

But the incoming minister, who has yet to be sworn in, told her department she wanted to stay in an ordinary room and that they should ditch the idea of the suite and that, for future reference they should not book her in first-class on international flights. She sent the public servants back to their department to revise the cost of the trip

...

Awwww, the poor little public servants are having their dream junket revised and downgraded. What a shame, eh ?

Meanwhile, back at The Lodge.

After the likes of KRudd and fabian socialist emily lister commie Gillard, it apparently now needs serious fumigation and renovation and is a health hazard of sorts.

So, what is the solution for temporary accommodation for the new PM ?

Read for yourself the full story here.

Tony Abbott abandons possum-infested Lodge in Canberra to live with AFP recruits until renovations are complete.

TONY Abbott has decided to bunk with Australian Federal Police recruits in a $120-a-night flat while renovations are conducted at the possum-infested prime ministerial residence The Lodge.

The modest and unusual digs, in a red brick AFP building close to Parliament, will feature a kitchenette and around-the-clock security from his AFP security officers and their junior colleagues.

...

The Lodge is preparing for major renovations that could last for up to a year to repair dodgy wiring, remove asbestos and replace the roof on the 1927 property.

Mr Abbott rejected the other options on offer: a $3,000 a week dress circle rental in the nation's capital. Mr Abbott currently stays at the five-star Hotel Realm.

...

The vexed question of where to put the Prime Minister while the renovations were conducted at the Lodge has exercised the minds of public servants for years after Julia Gillard first signed off on the multi-million dollar renovations of the historic property two years ago.

Ms Gillard was fond of regaling guests with stories of the possum urine stains in the ceiling detailing the horror in a 2012 interview with The Sunday Telegraph.

"We had a celebrated incident where we had a visiting foreign leader,'' Ms Gillard said.

"There was much shooing of people out of the dining room because someone spotted wee making its way down the wall to one of the very precious paintings from the National Gallery."

Called regression to the mean.

It's 60% larger than last year because last year was the lowest on average. There's still variation in the weather and climate. It's the long term trend. Something global warming deniers still pretend they've never heard of and / or are unable to understand that basic fact.

Also that figure isn't actually from the arctic minimum. So that's another misleading aspect to this story. It's less than 60%.

The amount of ice is actually still below the average of the last couple of decades for this time of year. So it's not at all some massive rebound. It's just more than last year, but still basically less than the previous 20 years before.

Here's the minimum averages for the last few decades

1980s: 7,255,232 km2

1990s: 6,550,737 km2

2000s: 5,537,967 km2

Here's this massive apparent increase

2013 7th Sept extent: 4,893,380 km2

More ice this year compared to last year was completely what was expected. So no controversy there.

Last August; "Around 80% of the ~100 scientists at the Bjerknes [Arctic climate science] conference thought that there would be MORE Arctic sea-ice in 2013, compared to 2012."

The BBC story from 2007 about the artic being ice free in 2013 is just a clear example of cherry picking what one dude said. In the original piece it had people criticising his predictions as too aggressive.

Just more horrible and deliberately dishonest reporting.

Oh fucking great. We all said you can't trust this anti-science religious fundamentalist in office. People all said we were being paranoid. So what does he do? Eliminates the science minister position..

FOR the first time since the creation of a science portfolio in 1931, Australia does not have a science minister.

http://www.news.com.au/technology/sci-tech/tony-abbott-has-not-included-a-science-minister-in-new-cabinet/story-fn5fsgyc-1226720375674

I am pretty sure this is really a case of they know they can't put someone who isn't qualified in the position. However they just don't want to engage in this area because it clashes with their ideologies. So they'll just eliminate the position all together.

So putting in substandard technological infrastructure that'll hold back Australia in coming decades. Now working to undermine science in the country.

And people said the jokes about him wanting Australia to be like the 1950s were unfair...
