I'm very sorry that Julia has gone. I think it was mostly due to bad press and in-house sniping. She wasn't a bad leader but her position was untenable with Kevin undermining her in the background and the Murdoch and other media barons crucifying her in the media. She wasn't bad, she was just drawn that way.
Having said that, I do think that Labor has a chance of performing better at the approaching election with Kevin Rudd. Not because he is a better leader, but because the Australian public has essentially stopped seeing Gillard as a worthy leader. Nothing she does resonates with the electorate now, due to short-sighted and unthinking people believing the dross they are served in the daily tabloids.

Julia Gillard ruined State of OriginWHAT sort of desperate, diabolical person schedules a leadership ballot to clash with State of Origin? Julia Gillard, that's who.
The Prime Minister's decision to challenge Kevin Rudd at 7pm tonight wasn't just a slap in the face for league fans. It was a vicious, Gallen-esque right hook.
Instead of plonking in front of Origin with a beer, reporters, pollies and Kevin Rudd himself will be forced to endure hour after hour of Labor leadership nonsense. Julia, THAT'S WHAT DAYTIME IS FOR. It's outrageous.
Yes, kick-off isn't until 8pm. Don't let that give you false hope, because after the caucus meeting there will be a procession of sanctimonious speeches. The loser will shed a tear. The winner will try not to look too smug. Every pundit on TV will want to deliver a free lecture on the evening's events, and by the time they've all shut up the biggest game of rugby league so far this year will be over.
Nobody wants to spend Origin night yelling at a politician on the TV. We're supposed to be bonding over our hatred of the referees, or of Greg Inglis.
Mr Rudd infamously tore into a flight attendant for bringing him the wrong food when he was last in the top job. Imagine how apoplectic he must be tonight, having been forced to miss his beloved Maroons' quest for a comeback. Was Ms Gillard trying to make Rudd despise her even more?
This is the problem with having a Prime Minister from the south. Ms Gillard was perfectly capable of using strained AFL metaphors to deny her leadership ambitions three years ago, but she clearly has no understanding of rugby league or its importance. It's certainly much more important than her.
So that's it. I've decided. Kevin Rudd is the man to lead Labor, because he's clearly the only candidate with the right priorities. Better a cocky Queenslander than a clueless Western Bulldogs fan.
Forget the carbon tax, asylum seekers and budget deficits. This leadership spill is the worst decision of Julia Gillard's political career.
I hope Kevin Rudd channels one of his Origin heroes, Gorden Tallis, and tosses Julia over the sideline like poor old Brett Hodgson.

Anyhoo, the "faceless men" / union mobsters clearly reckon a goodly proportion of the voting Oz population are mugs ... and judging by years of observing/testing folk in this forum I must admit that perhaps they are right in that.
That some of you are happy to be fooled again and shall continue to cast your vote in favour of that is bad for a people and country ... not to mention the unborn and the family unit.
Oh well ... our lives, our choice; we shall all reap what we sow, yes ?
It's not like we haven't be pre-warned about this sort of thing ...

Mr Abbott said the political execution of Mr Rudd three years ago, and now Ms Gillard, was vindication of what the opposition had said about the Labor government.
''The important thing now is, what is Kevin Rudd going to do for the Australian people, can he somehow fix the border problem that he created, can he get the budget deficits under control that his cash splash helped to create?'' he said.
''Yes, he's had his revenge, but is this all about Kevin Rudd's ego or is it about the Australian people?
''That's what we'll find out in the next day or so.''
Mr Abbott said that as the father of three daughters, he appreciated the magnitude of Ms Gillard's achievement in becoming the country's first female prime minister.
Later on Thursday morning, he told Fairfax Radio that history was likely to judge Ms Gillard harshly because she was a poor prime minister, not because she was a woman.
''Occasionally there was some silly, even offensive things said which should never have been said,'' he told Fairfax Radio.
''But 99.9 per cent of the time she was under attack not for being a woman but for being an appalling prime minister and that’s the test - can you do the job, are you doing the job - and the Labor party said no, she couldn’t do the job.''
Mr Abbott said he had never said Ms Gillard was a bad person, just a bad prime minister.
''I have a feeling that history will judge her pretty harshly because I think it was a poor prime ministership,'' he said.

Godlessness in the Last Days
1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-- 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them. 6 They are the kind who worm their way into homes and gain control over weak-willed women, who are loaded down with sins and are swayed by all kinds of evil desires, 7 always learning but never able to acknowledge the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so also these men oppose the truth--men of depraved minds, who, as far as the faith is concerned, are rejected. 9 But they will not get very far because, as in the case of those men, their folly will be clear to everyone.

So it wasn't "the boys club" that did her in....
That's what some posters here were saying on facebook, though I felt a bit skeptical

In my opinion she was damned before her sensible heel even hit the marble floor to her office.
There were a lot of things that "did her in", I think it was part boys club, but I think the careful manipulation from the media, which the average Joe gobbled up with a spoon, played a huge role in cultivating doubt and negativity regarding her leadership qualities, work ethic and capability to run the country. But ultimately it was the opinion of the vast majority of Australians that is what ended it for her. While I can't for the life of me understand why she is as hated as she is, polls don't lie. Under her leadership Labor was going to see their greatest loss in history come September, the only way to save some ground was to bring back Rudd. For whatever reason, it would seem the staunch Labor voter loves him.
I respect and admire Julia Gillard, and I am super sad to see her go, particularly under such stressful circumstances. I think she was a wonderful Prime Minister and she has proven that if an ordinary middle class ranga can become PM, the only thing stopping us reaching our full potential, is in fact us.
I believe history will be kind to her, it will give her the honour, appreciation and respect she deserves, however I don't think it will be as kind to the majority of Australians in relation to how she was treated while she was in office. I just feel proud I was never one of that majority.
