HOT SHOWS, Revenge, Downton Abbey etc

Guess this as good a place as any but one show to look out for is Broadchurch. It's just finished here and has widely been seen as ITV's best drama in a number of years, probably this century actually.

Now it's a difficult one for you to research as I'd strongly recommend you don't google it as avoiding spoilers is key, but it basically focuses on the case of a murdered 11 year old boy and the unfolding investigation over the eight episodes, with the killer revealed in the final episode. Obviously if you can it's better to watch without knowing the killer - it really is a show that has captivated the UK over the last couple of months and genuinely got people talking and with so many UK murder mystery shows resolved in a couple of hours or across a three parter it's been a real treat to see this be allowed to play out over eight weeks.

You might enjoy 'Top of the Lake', similar mystery style mini-series I think.

So I did a bit of back to back watching of this and have just finished the last ep!...Wow what a great final episode, very emotional.
Definitely don't google or look this one up savour the mystery and you'll be rewarded!
Now on to The Borgias!

What do you think of A Place to Call Home?

I think it's rather clunky in comparison with other epics - but I love the lead actresses face, she is riveting. The easily guessed storylines not so riveting, but nice scenery and actors.

I'm not watching it. There was something about the 15000 ads over the past 6 months that put me off it. Usually when there's one of these kinds of epics, I'm there with bells on. This one, for some reason I can't put my finger on, really didn't appeal to me and I have no interest in watching it. Interesting to hear it's not as riveting as it was made out.

Parades End was another one like that. I didn't really appeal to me but I did watch that. Held out for a few episodes but it just kept getting worse and worse and gave that one up as a total dud. Neither one of these series pulled me in, I don't know why though.

Yeah, I'm only watching ad hoc, I have missed great chunks, you don't have to watch much it's rather light on story/plot.
Nonni shits me, and she's especially bad in this clunker.
But lead lady's face is awesome, great nose.

I can't take to that Cumerbunch/batch(?) actor, he creeps me out, even the adds for PE shit me.

The epic I want to see is the Selfridges one. I may have already missed it???

I don't know about any Selfridges one. Is it on foxtel? We don't have foxtel. Otherwise I've completely missed those ads.

I love Benedict Cumberbatch on Sherlock, he really does the modern version of the character well but I don't get all of this "he's so hot" stiff that's all over the media. I don't think he's at all attractive and really didn't like his character in PE. I thought Christopher Teitjens was a bit skin crawly to be quite honest. He's apparently in the new Star Trek movie too, a baddie I think. I haven't seen that yet though.

It's called Mr Selfridge, and 7 have the rights, yeah - I don't pay for TV either. No air date yet, it's just been on in UK/US, runs for 10 weeks.

Should have good frocks and goodies being about a store.

I'll have to check it out. I haven't heard of it. I'm assuming it's the Selfridge as in the department store? Thanks, sounds interesting.

Revenge - wasn't on in Melbourne due to footy, was it? Was it on and I missed it? Was it on other States????

No you didn't miss it, Revenge will air tomorrow in Melbourne at 8:45. It aired as normal in all other states.

Yeah i don't get it either! I find him really ugly yet there's tons of girls who think he's amazing looking. Weird!

Thank you so much. I glanced at 7 this am, and Larry & co were doing the dumb revenge thing they do - dumwits, good idea NOT TO SPOIL Vic viewers.

Gabriel Mann is coming:)

Squeeeeeeeeee, I love his character. And you can enter a comp to join him at a Penthouse lux party:)

Another recommendation from here in the UK - The Fall, starring Gillian Anderson and Jamie Dornan. It's two episodes into a five episode run and essentially the story of a serial killer who is married with kids (Dornan) and the investigation into the killings, with Gillian Anderson playing the investigating officer. It's all set in Northern Ireland so has the added dimension of policing in a very politically sensitive area.

I know I'm not really selling it, but it's very good and kind of very matter of fact. It feels quite different to other crime dramas - they've kind of done a good job in grounding the characters so there is nothing sensationalist about it at all.

A trailer for the final series of Skins, which airs here in the UK in July as three feature length episodes. (I believe SBS has just started season 6, but as this final series only features characters from the first two generations there are no spoilers)
