Kieren Perkins splits with wife Symantha

THE dream is over for Olympic golden boy Kieren Perkins and his wife Symantha.

Spokesman Brian Levine has confirmed the long distance swimmer and his model wife have separated after more than 15 years of marriage.

The news comes just weeks after Perkins' poolmate Grant Hackett and singer Candice Alley announced they had split.

The Perkins’ met in 1994 and were married in 1997. They have three children, Harry, Georgia and Charlie.

"They request privacy at this difficult time to focus on their three children at this difficult time,’’ Levine said.

Perkins won Olympic gold medals in the 1500m freestyle at the Barcelona in 1992 and Atlanta in 1996.

He is regarded as one of the greatest distance pool swimmers in history and dominated the event during the 1990s.
