Doctor Who

Kylie always looks botoxed and plastic to me, I'm not really looking forward to seeing her on Doctor Who, but I love the show so much I can easily get over the stunt casting.

I feel like I'm in the minority about Martha, I didn't like her. I think Freema is a great actress but the way they wrote her character made me ill. When I first heard of her casting I thought it would be great as she is older than Billie and because her character was studying to be a medical doctor so I thought she would be a good rival for The Doctor but instead they made her another desperate love-sick puppy. Doesn't anybody want to go on the TARDIS just to explore time and spare and not just to get a sonic screwdriver from the Doctor (if you know what I'm saying ;) ;) ;)

Hopefully while on Torchwood she finishes becoming a doctor and stops acting like a love-sick teen. She can get it on with that pediatrician or whatever he was though, he was hot.

Yeah, the relationship angle between the Doctor and Rose/Martha is the new way for the new DW. I'm actually warming to Martha.

Rowee: Thanks for the pic. Glad to see its a gun she's holding and not a greasy Ramsay Street spanner! Looks like Kylie means business!

funninonebabe: The Brits just sssooooo love their Christmas specials, don't they? Often very tongue in cheek, they certainly aren't afraid to go over the top / send themselves up.

BEST Xmas special EVERY just has to be The Office Xmas special.

Oh let's juts trot out ALL the best possible Xmas kitsch possible.

We need a fat pompous Santa Claus waddling his way hopelessly towards the rapidly depleting spare life boat seats. We get to see Santa die and go down with the ship. The bow rears up, and with Santa hanging on for dear life (right where Leonardo DiCaprio was standing) we pan out and see him falling in the air to crash in the water, his hat separating on the way down and his beard too!!!

And aliens from all over the place mingling in the ballroom. A chance here for cameos of all our favourite aliens from the past plus some others from different TV series. Invariably, in the panic they trip and get tangled in any amount of christmas tinsel and perish along with the human passengers.

We also get an old time Dalek unable to escape from the lower decks because the lift won't work and its unable to use the stairs!!!

A cameo from Rose too, who we see just momentarily pushing a male friend into her cabin room, she enters and before closing the door looks back and winks to the camera. I think the bloke looked like me! (Yeah - in your warped dreams CS!)

Never mind that the Titanic didn't sink on Christmas Day. It's a Christmas special so details don't matter much!

SPOILER

Grab this before it gets pulled from YouTube: It shows something crashing into the TARDIS. ;)

In DW canon, isn't it impossible to destroy the TARDIS?

Exclusive image from the set!!! Gee she looks like a tough cookie! :D

I don't know what's worse. Seeing that image again when I had so successfully blocked it from my memory or the fact everyone else seems to think it's an actual on-set promotional shot from Doctor Who.

That damn pic is from Street Fighter: The Movie, people!

Good gag rowee...

Well, you got me Rowee. I really thought it a promo shot, especially the cheap uniform she was wearing. I thought that RTD might decide to send up the previous DW series.

Revenge will be sweet, I warn you!

It's only because I am cool beyond cool.

As for Titanic at Christmas, why not? I mean, it's a show about time travel and you're questioning the logic behind it? Harr harr harr...

Nope. Tardises can be destroyed.

Really? You know heaps more than me Burn but.... The Doctor's TARDIS has been through a lot but never seriously damaged to date I think - I haven't seen EVERY episode so I may be way wrong here.

The TARDIS is safe from attack by all of the "baddies" in DW, including the Daleks - they have never breached it.

So how the hell can a stupid ship's bow make a hole in the wall? My gripe is that RTD has allowed a simple primitive human made device (Titanic) to damage the TARDIS when better / alien technology was unable to.

TARDISes are not of our 3 dimensional understanding of the world. That's why they are so cavernous on the inside.

Something else that sparks of revisionism - and again I will humbly stand corrected - is that the Doctor seems able to control his TARDIS and go wherever he wants to go. But... didn't the Doctors of old wind up in all manner of places because the TARDIS has this one amazing ability to basically go where it wants to go, rather than where the Doctor wants to go? Wasn't that the KEY to the weird and wonderful travels of the old Doctors. So does the new series of Doctors use an improved TARDIS?

Something doesn't add up here or is it just me?

They are seriously not gonna introduce a new girl into Dr Who are they? I just got used to Martha Jones. That show just keeps getting better and better, loved looking at the doctor at 900 years old, what a cutie LOL.
Now what am I going to download each week, bigpond will be ringing me wondering why my downloads are so low.HAHAHA

As for the TARDIS being destroyed didn't the Tractators in Frontios
effectively disassemble the TARDIS and spread it all over a planet?

So in effect it can be totally disabled and I think being blasted apart
like that is as good as destroying it IMHO.

Actually in respect to Frontios does that mean the TARDIS interior
isn't actually as big as we think?

I think it's a bit early to be getting upset when we really don't know what the story's going to be. I doubt it's the real Titanic that's crunched the Tardis since it wouldn't be in space and anyway what they showed was the wrong colour ... pictures of the Titanic on the web show a dark hull? Anyhow I'm sure RTD will bring it together properly come Xmas.

ah Atom are you sure the Titantic cannot be in space? I think with RTD's imagination anything is possible. lol Now that would a sight seeing the Titantic floating through space :)
Sanchez it could be a alien version of the Titanic maybe? fun to speculate though so how close to the mark we are.

Oh yes i remember that episode when the TARDIS was broken up into bits and only the coat stand remained..

I was weird not waiting for a episode to download :( how many more months to go? lol

The Doctor's Tardis was destroyed in the novels, and that's canon yes?

As for that thing doing that thing to it, well ... wouldn't be the first time the Tardis glitched.

LOL burn good spoiler lol

Just a question people: Is 'Doctor Who Confidential' worth downloading? I was going to download the last 3 episodes of it for this season but I have to ration my quota, so wondering whether it's worth it or not.

What is it exactly? Interviews with the cast/writers? Y/N?

I download it but usually after DW has finished so i have something more to watch.
Yes Its usually about the show that just aired with interviews, it's worth a watch i have the first 2 seasons. :)

Harping back to my previous point about the TARDIS of old being unreliable, or "glitching" as Burn puts it, I would have to say that in the wrong hands it is a very lame plot device to explain away anything.

So it could even be a temporal transdimensional Titanic - maybe a reflection / image or parallel Titanic which crashes into the TARDIS. If it was supposed to be the original TARDIS in the North Atlantic then we'd have had water streaming into the TARDIS at the moment of impact.

With luck somebody dropped some "good sh!t" into Russell T Davie's coffee when he was writing the script. If so then we'd best grab a towel and head for the nearest hyperspace bypass as we'll be in for a right Xmas treat!

Rolf Harris and Barbara Windsor also also tipped to appear in the Xmas special. Wooooo hooooo!

The entire season finale was a lame plot device. So no suprise that it would carry over to the christmas special. :(
