I was a little disappointed with things.

I'm very disappointed in what they've basically revealed about the Face of Boe. He'd become my favourite character in this new series but to give it that connection disappoints me greatly.

lol I thought that was great. Since there were many annoying things in the episode and I knew about the Martha thing, the Face of Boe revelation was the only real shock for me.

I loved the revelation of the Face of Boe - it was one of the highlights to me. I heard about the Martha thing... but thought that was just a rumour. But glad the way they did it and that we'll see her in Season 4.

Overall I think there were some good and not so good points to the finale. I did find it exciting but I had a problem with the whole paradox concept as you all knew it could be all reversed! Still thought it was a great end of the series.

Sorry but the whole, tapping into the psychic power of a satellite network and drawing on the strength of an entire planet to restore the Doctor to full health and defeat the Master in under three minutes was just a bit too tacky for my liking. Probably because i've become accustomed to better storylines and plots and found this to just be VERY anti-climatic especially when you compare it to the season finales of the previous two seasons.

Looking back ... the season was a bit of a let down compared to previous seasons. :(

Oh dear. I read your spoiler Burn. My fault - not yours. I love DW so much I think I'll overlook that end of season scripting clangger! What a stinker! Still, viewing it might change my perspective. I hope.

Actually I thought it was very similar to the previous two season's finales ... ie return of a classic Who enemy (Daleks/Cybermen/Master) seemingly kill them off and return the Doctor to reset in the Tardis with a setup for the Xmas special. A bit tedious really. Hopefully they'll extend themselves a bit next season ..... still Lucy Saxon was hot.

I cetainly agree about your problems with the episode.

Yes the solution seemed a little contrived and convienent even though the whole "power of words" seemed very Whoish! My main problem is having a big reset button that allows them to do virtually anything to the story and then reset it back to how it was when finished. It's been done before, let's hope it's for the last time.

I couldn't contain myself and read a few medicore reviews whilst downloading the episode and braced myself to be dissapointed. Since my expectations were low already, I was able to enjoy it for what it was. And I felt there still were quite a few interesting things to enjoy in this episode!

At least the Tochlafane weren't the Daleks!!!

It's no worse then the whole "Bad Wolf" thing in the first series and that
ending with Rose saving the day by opening the TARDIS console with
a tow truck of all things. Only reason she could open the console was that
the TARDIS let her do so by proving her determination and committment to
the Doctor. And no worse that Rose just happens to suck the whole time
vortext into herself to do so.

Hey I wonder if when she resurrected Jack that's how he became
immortal and can't die?

... er I'm trying to work out if you're being sarcastic or not? Yes, of course that's why he became "immortal". Aside from being painfully obvious in Torchwood etc. The Doctor clearly said it in the Utopia episode.

Re: Series 3 finale and companions...

It said in the news this morning that Martha will do three episodes of Torchwood and then accompany the Doctor for the second half of series four, while a new full time companion will do all 13 episodes. Two companions for the price of one.

If it's not Sally Sparrow, then RTD has definitely lost the plot...though I wouldn't imagine he'd have known how popular her character was when Martha was written out. However, as filming only starts next month it's not too late.

Stuff about Utopia

Dude! Spoilers!

As far as assistants go ...

Word going around is we'll see a return of Doctor Tom (the guy who helped Martha in the series finale) as the new guy with Martha returning mid-season, but not before a three episode stint in Torchwood

Well it was in response to a poster commenting on the finale, Utopia was two episodes earlier! However I apologise.

Hi Atom I think because some haven't seen the season like us :)

I wonder....
if RTD knows how popular Sally Sparrow was? Show jumping hmm will this get confusing, or a way to get us to watch both shows? I am not complaining i like both shows :)

Yeah it's been pretty clear on all the Who forums that Sally Sparrow was a brilliant character, so RTD would be aware. However he's often so deliberately contrary that he's unlikely to act on that. I guess we'll see what happens. In the meantime we have Kylie to deal with at Xmas.

I am not sure i want to see the singing budgie in DW :( she over acts everything.....but would love to see SS back :D Oh no back to reality....argh gotta go to work :) have a good day all :o

Kylie? As in Minogue?
Is there any other? :D

I know people complained when they heard Catherine Tate was going to be in last year's Xmas special and I thought she did a good job even though her character was annoying!

I think Kylie will do a good job, especially as a light hearted Xmas DrWho episode!
