Hi everyone!
I was just wondering if someone here would be able to tell me a little about Doctor Who and where I can watch it?
I'm into sci-fi so I might like it, I'm just looking for a bit on an insight first.
Welcome, to the best place on this board and the WONDERFUL WHO world.
If you like sci fi you will be in heaven, if you like quality, say no more...
Start by getting some of the 50th year of Doctor Who celebration shows.
1 A Guide to Doctor Who. BBC, available through illegal means or at the ABC shop
This is a wonderful intro to a vast world - ie 50 years, with spin offs, and extras, and books and radio and past cast doing new stories on audio, magnificent magazines, it is almost endless.
It covers the show from the first episode in the 60's, broadcast the day Kennedy was assassinated, until the 50th last year.
2. Dramatisation of how the first show was produced by Verity Lambert, a fabulous drama about the first shows, how it was conceived, cast and produced and became a hit. I will look for the proper title.
Then - jump to what is called NuWho, ie the reboot in 2005, the modern era of Doctor Who.
All available as boxed sets at your local library.
Then - you may wish to visit some of the old classic stuff, I love the Doctor world is so enormous, and populated by super fans that become the Doctor or write the shows.
Note - our lovely ABC, usually runs repeats of the entire 10 years of NuWho before the latest season.
So, when we know the date of the release of 2016 season, then you know a few months prior, about mid-year/May-ish, the re-runs begin.
You are in for a treat - Doctor Who will spin you about like a kid high on lollies, then break your heart like losing a loved one, then push your brain to exploding point, then give you a rush like a roller coaster.
And Whovians, Who fans are too fabulous
