The Adipose are cute and really rather sweet,
So the Doctor has decided to give them all a treat.

Hi everyone! :)

I was just wondering if someone here would be able to tell me a little about Doctor Who and where I can watch it?

I'm into sci-fi so I might like it, I'm just looking for a bit on an insight first.

Welcome, to the best place on this board and the WONDERFUL WHO world.
If you like sci fi you will be in heaven, if you like quality, say no more...

Start by getting some of the 50th year of Doctor Who celebration shows.

1 A Guide to Doctor Who. BBC, available through illegal means or at the ABC shop
This is a wonderful intro to a vast world - ie 50 years, with spin offs, and extras, and books and radio and past cast doing new stories on audio, magnificent magazines, it is almost endless.
It covers the show from the first episode in the 60's, broadcast the day Kennedy was assassinated, until the 50th last year.

2. Dramatisation of how the first show was produced by Verity Lambert, a fabulous drama about the first shows, how it was conceived, cast and produced and became a hit. I will look for the proper title.

Then - jump to what is called NuWho, ie the reboot in 2005, the modern era of Doctor Who.
All available as boxed sets at your local library.

Then - you may wish to visit some of the old classic stuff, I love the Doctor world is so enormous, and populated by super fans that become the Doctor or write the shows.

Note - our lovely ABC, usually runs repeats of the entire 10 years of NuWho before the latest season.
So, when we know the date of the release of 2016 season, then you know a few months prior, about mid-year/May-ish, the re-runs begin.

You are in for a treat - Doctor Who will spin you about like a kid high on lollies, then break your heart like losing a loved one, then push your brain to exploding point, then give you a rush like a roller coaster.

And Whovians, Who fans are too fabulous:)

I know, and it makes it worse that there's absolutely nothing else on at the moment either.
On the plus side, it's the shortest ever gap between the season finale and the Christmas Day episode. Just 2 weeks to go!

I have all of Peter Calpaldi's episodes of Doctor Who recorded of the last 2 years from when Foxtel and the ABC repeated them during the year and then played for the first time this year... I'm going to start from his first appearance all the way through to his latest episodes in a marathon sitting over a of period of either a few days or perhaps 1 episode each day to make it last longer as a fix of my Doctor Who addiction lol!... I will re-absorb all that there is Doctor Who-ish and will bathe myself in it's aura of awesomeness!... aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!... D-o-c-t-o-r W-h-oooooooo... **drool drool**... lol!... cheers.

I'd like to do a Nu Who marathon, but I guess I'll get to it eventually!
I'm still doing the classic series marathon I started with @nutmeg, at one episode or DVD feature per day, we just didn't have time to review them anymore. Currently on the Troughton classics.
I wonder if nutmeg is still watching, I hope so.

Troughton is quite good. Maybe the most important actor to grace the show. He redefined the role.

Aww I love MICKEY, and the guy that plays him. A very talented writer/director, we have a movie he made, about young dudes in trouble in London, he is trying to go straight and teen boys love this movie about peer pressure etc. I think he has written some Who episodes???

Noel Clarke is very talented. He's a fan too, and wrote the Torchwood episode where Owen had a fight club with the Weevils.

...hey all... I sorted out my stuff-up lol!... anyhow... I've had some idle time on my hands again and have done another Doctor Who-erism in Photoshop... (yes I am missing doing all of those Photoshops of the housemates in Big Brother obviously)... lol!... moving on... yes I know that 'The - Beatles - walking - across - the - zebra - crossing - at - Abbey - Road' thing has been so done to death with millions of other people doing 'their thing' with that famous image so who am I not to do a version of my own eh?... lol!...

...I've used a few familiar characters and objects from our favourite show of Doctor Who in this image... there are 12 references to Doctor Who in it... (14 if you wish to be pedantic lol!)... can you spot them?... the first image is just the people or objects from the show minus the actual Beatles (click on the image to see it full sized)... the second image includes The Beatles (again click on the image to see it full sized)... I hope that you enjoy looking at them because a sure as hell had a lot of fun doing them lol!... cheers.
