Mistress Anonymia - I am very, very glad that you chose a pic with their eyes covered. The angels in full fright scared the bejesus out of me!

This is where I'm tempted to make a very delayed animated avatar -- solely for this reason. Lol!

Now have you ever walked past real life statues and gotten freaked out?

Not yet.
I love statues -- Although Dolls are a different story... Creepy things Dolls are.

...

Actually wait, I lied! ...This one time a statue did scare me half-to death. It took me a moment to realize it was a real-life person pretending to be a statue... even as he lay on the ground winded from my instant 'survival' self-defence mechanism mode.

Poor guy pretending to be a statue, not the best occupation in the world...

^^ LOL! did you really smack him one? If I had of just watched the first weeping angel ep (the one with sally sparrow) then I would have freaked & decked him too!

And please, please, pretty please warn me if you do change your avatar into an animated one?

Shamed to say, I did. Poor guy... I was too busy reading whatever the hell I was reading which seemed VERY important at the time and next thing I know a Statue is beside me... invading my personal space and breathing quite heavily... so I instinctively 'hit' the statue.

He did ask me out for coffee after that, nice guy but definitely poor, poor occupational choice.

And haha -- Sure thing! I shall warn you if I succumb to temptation. Lol!

It seems illogical that an American network would fund a British tv show and then Americanise it. You'd think if they were spending big money on it, it would be because it already had something special...but then to turn it into an american show where the only recognisable feature of the original show is three actors and a couple of place names thrown around..it doesn't make sense. If they thought they could do it better then they'd be wrong. (I hope that doesn't sound like I don't believe you because I know you're correct in what you've said)

The thing with Torchwood though is the BBC weren't really fully behind it, and Davies at the time had his hands full with DW. It was one of those side projects.

Decision was made, Torchwood wasn't a priority, so they wrapped it up as much as they could but left the door slightly ajar for any potential follow up.

Primeval is another show that's now out of the hands of the British. The Canadians have picked it up and so far the only references to the original series is "ARC" and Connor.

And really, things have to be "Americanised" for the Americans, you know what their brains are like. :p

OMG it's Burn. Now there's a blast from the past - good to see you.
So where are Meglos, LB and CS? Then the old gang would be back together.
Ahhh, the good ol' days when the five of us used to chat endless DW, classic and new. Plus Steve and Medusa and a few others.
Was so much fun, a great online time in my life.

Mind you, the newer DW fans/chatters here have created a wonderful and informative thread.
Ya gotta love DW fans!!

Hey nutmeg & Burn. I know what you're saying nutmeg, it's a lot quieter these days but it's always nice to touch base. It all seems so long ago, but then you realise that it actually WAS, good memories though.

Hi Meglos,
At the risk of boring everyone else here with our nostalgia ... I remember that in our old DW thread ...

You and I would talk DW novels;
Burn would come up with mad DW plot scenarios;
LB covered upcoming episodes and crazy DW merchandise;
And CS was your general but loveable shit stirrer.
And others of course.
They were funny days!!

So, any good DW/SF books to recommend now the season is over?

I miss thse guys too. There are quite a few nice folks here who are fans - el coopo, kxk, wynter, Mudcake (you know him, but probably under another name, maybe CLE or Choccy?), Medusa (as you said), dobergirl, zac, Will, Mizeerie...

I remember I always used to say how far behind I was on the books - and I still am! I still read them though, I just finished one of the quick easy-to-read ones (The Sontaran Games), the 8th Doctor "The Adventuress Of Henrietta Street" (which was excellent) and am now reading "Shada".

Never got into the books myself.

And yes the Doc Who thread is populated by excellent posters - of course.

O recently was lucky enough to pick up a couple of old Doc Who eps, local DVD store closure, they threw everything out dirt cheap.
Got 5 doctors, weeeee, and Caves of Androzi for $4.

The Children In Need stuff is up on youtube now.

New trailer
Title of the christmas episode
"Minisode" prequel

Pass me a beer, will you? :D
