Yeah that was such a great surprise to see who Kate was.

Kate's (the UNIT officer) last name was Stewart, just like Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart. He was her dad, & the Doctor worked it out.

All too much for my poor dad - he loved the original series - can't follow the recent incarnation as soon as river song came along - was just to complicated for him - but to put that in perspective, he grew up in an era where entertainment was simple, consisting of good and bad guys, and it was all resolved by the end of the episode. He can't even follow a bond movie if there are two attractive female blonde characters - cause he gets them confused. Did I mention my dad has a phd in particle physics? So he is obviously not an idiot. Just of a different era - tv was simple entertainment for him - now we expect it to make us think!
 
TV used to be an escape..something people did so they didn't have to think, Dorothy. Times are changing.

Speaking of PhD's, I loved seeing Prof. Brian Cox playing himself on this episode. He cracks me up just to see his face. I can't look at him without thinking about him telling Ross Noble how he could stand on a ravine in Titan (one of the moons of Saturn) and throw Ewoks into a frozen lakes of farts and watch them shatter. One of the funniest ever TV moments. (If any of you are not a QI fans then you will have no clue what that that means, so don't feel bad..lol)

^^ I just watched it & cried buckets!! Those angels lived up to their fright factor!! As sad as it was, nice to see things go full circle.
 
I think it was a great episode but had an underlying bittersweet tone. The "farewell" seemed surprisingly sudden and rushed.

Good ending, but I thought the farewell of Rose, Donna and Wilfred were more powerful in the end.
 
New to these forums, but also a HUGE Dr. Who fan, I don't know, I haven't been loving this season (Don't get me started on them splitting up the seasons), its sad because the cube storyline would have been perfect for a story arc, and they could have done so much more with the dinosaur episode. In saying that, I am super excited for the new companion and renew my hope in the series.
 
Yes good episode, I thought.

Wondering though, I saw a preview for the Christmas episode at the end of the Angels one. Does this mean that we won't be seeing another episode until Christmas? It seems a bit early to be advertising the Christmas episode already, isn't it? Do they have split seasons?

The Christmas one kind of implied that it was going to be the introduction of Clara.
 
Yeah wynter, there's nothing now until Xmas, where I assume Clara will be (re)introduced. Then the second half of the season will commence sometime next year.

Bugger! I was just getting into this season. I'll have a couple of little boys who will be annoyed too..lol. (Little boys who no longer tell people they are twins, they now tell people they are victims of spacial genetic multiplicity!..LOL) Thanks Meglos.

Yes but they use it way too often.......It's not a deus ex machina every single episode is it? Like the cube one had a fantastic build up to the middle and then at the end is all undone by waving the sonic around...... Not much thought there. Just my opinion.
