I'm currently watching The Face Of Evil in my marathon. Chris Boucher's writing is amongst the best so far, and Leela's introduction as one of the most underrated companions is exemplary.
It was the fabulous Leela who turned me into a fan...
As a kid watching she was so awesome.....when I saw Leela I began to pay attention.
Instead of DW just being on.......now I wanted to know the story, all the prissy companions before looked like secretaries - a fate worse than death for a female i thought at the time and I refused to learn any female labours, typing/sewing etc
And my TV role models were people like Leela, Mortisha & Wednesday Adams, any female with dark hair and different ways

I don't like to boast, but I pretty much do. If I look at a cast list for another show, I can pick out the names that have been in Doctor Who. But I'm sure lots of people can do that.

it must be so easy to write the new series compared to the classic series imo. because you had to figure out how many times the doctor and their companions were going to be captured over the course of 4-6 episodes by the aliens race of the moment. 45 minute format much simpler.
