Oh wow, thanks for posting the info - is it travelling to other State? I hope so.

Sorry I don't think so but you can go see the Doctor Who Symphonic Spectacular which is to once again take place in Australia, with three concerts to take place during January and February next year in Melbourne and Queensland, and the possibility of further performances in New Zealand.
The new Spectacular is currently scheduled for the following dates:

31st January (7:30pm) and 1st February (2:00pm) - Melbourne Symphony Orchestra
Plenary Hall, Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre
Bookings: 03 9929 9600 or visit www.mso.com.au

8th February - Queensland Symphony Orchestra
Brisbane Entertainment Centre
Bookings: 132 849 or visit ticketek.com.au/doctorwho

Tickets go on sale from the 6th August.

I saw it at the Opera House in December last year. It was great! GO!

I always trust DW production in picking great Doctors. There has never been a bad DW, and yes, I am including Colin Baker. So I am excited, though a little sad to see Matt go.

Oh and tickytoc, so glad you posted about the exhibition and the MSO show. Looks like I need to plan a trip to NSW!

I went to a DW exhibition in Manchester a few years ago, was going to post the pics here until I realised that I was giving up the copyright. But what does it matter, I took photos of stupid things - like a Cyberman's arse. I should get organised and post some pics.

Doctor Who fans share their passion with life-size dalek models
Daleks are taken very seriously by some fans of the long-running and popular science fiction TV series Doctor Who.

The various incarnations of the doctor over half a century have faced up to the arch-nemesis daleks - cyborgs seeking to take over the universe.

While the rage of xenophobic daleks is loathed by many fans, there are some fans with nothing but admiration for them.

The Australian Dalek Builders Union has a small but keen membership that faithfully recreates the robots.

Organiser Raphael Segal says the group is part of an international network of more than 4,000 enthusiasts who swap design instructions and tips over the internet.

"Every single dalek has got slightly different dimensions," he said.

"There are little nuances and different features and accessories, such as claws or plungers."

The full-scale models include a voice distortion system, allowing the owner to bark out the commands that are so common to fans of the television show.

Aside from the satisfaction of completing the build, the union members take their robot models to exhibitions, conferences or sometimes just onto the street for a laugh.

"When people see a dalek coming around the corner they tend to either say, 'hey, I remember that,' or they run," Raphael Segal laughed.

Aww, how cute is that, a union of dalek makers....

And thanks for all the DW info you keep posting, very exciting to be the 50th year isn't it.

...thanks for posting that info tickytoc about the show in Sydney at the ABC... I'm going to it next Tuesday with my sweet darling wife... I'll take some happy snaps and will hopefully get to have a photo with an actual Dalek if it's allowed... woohoo!... roll on Tuesday!... cheers.

There was a Dalek on that chat show on ABC tonight, the one with Laurence Mooney hosting.
Brooke Satchwell & Tony Martin were amongst the guests, there were some DW questions & a foul-mouthed Dalek,

I caught the end of that show and was so happy - although how short was that Dalek?!?!
At the DW exhibition I was at a few years ago, they had a Dalek in front of a mirror with enough room at the back for punters to climb in and talk Dalek and move the "arms". When I was a Dalek, I sang show tunes - was kinda funny.

lol at the show tunes. I've met a Dalek but never operated one.

...hey all... just letting you know that my sister and I are just about to walk out of the door to head towards the Dr Who exhibition at the ABC studios in Sydney... I'll let you all know how it went... (I really hope that I get to see or touch a Dalek... I'll probably have an on-the-spot orgasm if I manage to get my photo taken with a Dalek lol!)... cheers.

You've probably told us at some stage, but what happened?

Remember about 5 or more years ago when there was a Doctor Who show travelling around the capital cities? I went to the Adelaide one. It was hosted by Tim Ferguson, & the guests were the 6th & 7th Doctors (Colin Baker & Sylvester McCoy) plus Katy Manning (Jo Grant). I had a brief chat with them & got autographs, there was a Dalek there too.

Fun!! I went to a Vic one and there were no Daleks after it at the signings, bugger it. I spoke to Katy, Sylvestor and Colin though. Katy was amazing and we had a nice chat, mostly about how amazing she performs and looks - what a show-lady. As soon as I turned to get an autograph from Sylvester I became enormously star-struck. I thrust my program at him and said 'Nutmeg' and couldn't muster much else. So dorky! Then I was equally as geeky with Colin, and he started talking to the guy next to me who was gushing over Sylvester, and Colin was joking about Sylvester being the favourite. And I said 'No they were both good', but it sounded like I didn't mean it, and I interpreted Colin to take it that way, whether he did or not. I was mortified because I love Colin Baker. I still cringe about it. But better that horrible story than nothing.

Please tell me you had a better conversation than that.

I think there was only one Dalek, in the foyer, I'm not sure if it spoke but I was in awe of seeing one in the flesh anyway.
I was a bit starstruck too, but I think I hid it well. I didn't have an in-depth conversation with any of them but the one who spoke the most & was the warmest was Colin. Sylvester slightly less, but certainly not unfriendly. Katy was of course lovely.
I got my program guide signed on each of their pictures. Colin wrote "to Meglos", Colin wrote "HI! Meglos" & Katy wrote "To Meglos x Loooooveeeeee Katy xox "
I know we are amongst millions but I appreciate a few seconds of their time.
