Doctor Who

It will be very interesting to see how the Oswin/Clara thing plays out. Is she an aspect of the same person, a past/future incarnation like the various River Songs we see out of sequence, or a completely different person who just looks like her, like Martha's cousin Adeola, or Princerss Astra/Romana in the original series...

Also towards the end of the episode when the Doctor is chanting "Doctor Who" his voice slows down a bit and he says "Doc Tor" almost like a Dalek....Hmmm Also who decided Star Wars sound effects go in the TARDIS? There were some in there too.

And go give i-view a hit if you haven't already, kudos to ABC & it's going to do this ÉVERY WEEK :)

Doctor Who premiere exterminates iView records
ABC had a massive online ratings win for its digital delivery service, thanks to the Gallifreyan's fan appeal.
It seems that iView is most definitely cool now, with the ABC stating that the premiere episode "Asylum of the Daleks" had 75,900 plays in a single day, the largest number of daily views recorded for the service.
As we previously reported, the ABC will be making the new series of the popular sci-fi show available via iView, immediately after the episodes air on the BBC in the UK each Sunday at 5.10am AEST.
If the numbers of viewers stay high, this could be a wake-up call for the Australian TV industry ,which still finds itself heavily criticised for failing to offer popular overseas shows to the local audience in a timely fashion.

And another interesting article here - http://itechreport.com.au/2012/09/02/abc-and-doctor-who-the-biggest-blow-to-piracy-ever/

ABC and Doctor Who. The biggest blow to piracy ever
........
The ABC has done something unprecedented in Australian TV. They released a popular show (Season 7 premier of Doctor Who) online 10 minutes after it was shown in the UK.
..................................................
Piracy is a market correction. It supplies content that is being demanded but being unmet. In supplying the show to Australians, the ABC realise that it can compete with piracy on equal standing. In fact may actually be better that piracy, for Doctor Who sells merchandise, which the ABC is able to sell via it’s Online and ABC shopfronts, so Doctor Who in real terms is advertising for ABC shops.

I tried iview tons of times between 6am - 10am & it was buffering constantly, I couldn't get more than 19 seconds into it.

EP1 Spoliers:

If Oswin is actually Clara in a different point in her timeline, why didn't she remember the Doctor? Also, did the Doctor actually see Oswin at any stage?

Obviously the Amy infertile plot point needs to be sorted out - but I was wondering why the fact that they knew and had met their daughter wasn't brought up. Maybe the baby isn't theirs and they end up adopting a baby?

As far as I understand it Melody Pond was their baby through natural conception, and Amy has been infertile since the birth at Demon's Run. So we can speculate that Rory yearns for another baby.

And no, the Doctor hasn't seen Oswin, except as a Dalek.

Oh I forgot, she's already had Melody right? There have been some confusing plotlines to keep track of!

Remember when the 10th Doctor and Rose met Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones via skype (or watever it was)from Torchwood and he asked her if she was from an old Welsh family? He asked because she looked exactly like the 18th century maid Gwyneth who closed the alien protal in the episode with the 9th doctor. (which of course she was..Eve Myles, same actress. I checked..Gwynneth was in The Unquiet Dead) and ...

"Subsequently, Davies' 2008 Doctor Who episode "Journey's End" alluded to a familial relationship between the characters, explaining their physical resemblance as the result of "spatial genetic multiplicity".[11] Eve Myles said of the two characters, "it was never on the cards as such, but something in the back of my head always said that they were going to be connected somehow."[81] Davies explained that the relationship between the characters is not literal, stating that "It's not familial as we understand it" instead characterising spatial genetic multiplicity as "an echo and repetition of physical traits across a Time Rift."

...so this is how I think they are going to connect Oswin and Clara.

Edit...hmm...except that we're the only ones who are going to know it's the same person so he's not going to feel the need to explain it at all, is he. <groan> Abandon theory. Sometimes I hate Doctor Who.

The actor that played Martha also appeared in an earlier episode (and was killed I believe) before she appeared as the Martha we know. But it's too close to have the actor appear twice as different roles without a connection. Knowing Moffat he'll pull the rug from under us again!

Yes, she played Adeoli (Matha's cousin) at Canary Wharf. She had cybermen earphones wired into her head. The Doctor pulled her half of her brains out when he yanked out he earpieces.

and my sons just reminded me that Amy Pond was also one of the red robed priestesses from Pompeii in a 10th doctor episode.

There was another prequel that came after Pond Life, just for the American audience. (It was available to season pass subscribers on the North American iTunes store and Amazon Instant Video)

And don't forget it's on the tellie tonight, so we can watch it again, give it some ratings if you have a machine
