Mud I'm watching those nightly repeats here and there, what's struck me is Moffat's stuff is so extremely horrible to Amy, and to Rory, over and over again he has them stranded places for decades, steals their kid, and just tortures Amy again and again. And then she's still miss bubbly, it's altogether very odd stuff.
Oh and Matt Smith is much more impressive second time around.

Couldn't agree more, all the crap they've been put through, haven't they earned a happy ending?

I know exactly what you mean.

Frankly I think Moffat is quite over rated as a writer. He does single stories fine but arcs and he falls apart.

There's a great series of fan vids on Youtube by some guy in the UK calling himself Steven Muppet and he does these sendups of the episodes. His youtube name is legodaleks

EDIT:

Which Doctor Who Companions Have Had The Meanest Things Done To Them?

For me this list is a very short list as I don't remember much of the old series..

1. Donna - For me this was the possibly the worst fate a companion that leaves has ever had to face.. That they can't even have a happy memory of the Doctor, and in the case of poor Donna she could die if she does..

2. Rory and Amy - The writers in the last couple of series have been very cruel to both of them, far crueller then I could ever recall to any one companion. What with Rory dying multiple times, Amy getting kidnapped, and then having her daughter kidnapped.. The cruelty never seemed to end..

3. Peri - I think the very last time we saw her she was about to get her head either cut off or shaved, and forcibly too. I wonder what her final fate was.

That's 3 off the top of my head, any more you can add to this list?

Yes, when I saw a bit of that episode the other night where poor Amy is stuck on some spaceship for decades and she's all old and grumpy - well that was when it struck me that Moffat is just torturing poor Amy and Rory needlessly.
I fogot all about this episode, it's an extra torture for I don't think it has anything to do with the rest of the torture with the baby and stuff.

I'm really disappointed in Moffat, he is crap at doing whole series, I never loved his stuff before the way some fans adored him but some of his story ideas were good - I just think a lot of his execution sucks, a lot of his stuff goes round in circles that make no sense.

Adric seems like an obvious choice, being taken from his own universe and then killed, but... it's Adric.

Yes, I hope they uncover some really old ones in good condition.

I'd love to see the Special Weapons Dalek again.

The one Talkin' 'Bout Your Generation used that time seemed to be in pretty good nick, but I don't know whether the BBC would want to fly it from Melbourne to Cardiff and back when they could build a cheaper replica.

My 8 yr old daughter told me that all of her friends are watching Dr Who. Can someone tell me if it's normal for this age group to be watching? They even play Dr Who at lunch time! I thought it was aimed at teens/adults?

I'd say it's normal for kids to watch it if they want to, some of the themes are more suitable for teens/adults but there's plenty of monsters & action for kids to enjoy/imitate, and it's wholesome (no swearing, sex or realistic violence that could be imitated).

You should be delighted. Doc Who is a wonderful show for the family to watch, it has heart & soul and ethics, plus the wonderful adventure of it all.
Young girls probably identify with Rose, she's pretty & gutsy and young and vibrant.

And the producers are really careful about what is suitable for DW & the family - they created Torchwood for adults and Doc Who isn't allowed to guest on that show because it's not suitable for kids and they don't want them bugging mum and dad to watch torchwood.
Plus they created Sarah Jane Adventures for smaller kids - watch that too it's awesome.

Thanks for the advice! I watched the one on last night (with Big Brother lol) and I enjoyed the storyline but I hate robots so it kind of freaked me out LOL.

When I was about 5 or 6 I still remember watching about 5 mins of Dr Who (this'd be about 30 yrs ago) and the scene was the Dr hiding behind a door on a really windy night. Something about this scene stuck in my head and for years after, windy nights scared the crap out of me and I believed that badies only came out on windy nights haha. This is why I'm hesitant!!

But the Torchwood team did guest on Dr. Who.....

Yep, they are allowed on Doc Who but it's one way traffic, the Doc is never allowed to go on Torchwood - fans keep begging, and they are told no way kiddies can't be watching Torchwood and they would all want to if the Doc came visiting.

But really check out Sarah Jane Adventures too, think it's on kid's pay tv, that one has kids in the stories and it's quite wonderful.
They also made a k-9 cartoon.
Doc Who is classy TV, especially in comparison to all the other crap on at 7.30pm (how on earth they got away with sleazey 2.5 men in that timeslot I willnever know).

Torchwood and SJA are both fantastic too. Both exist within the Whoniverse, but you are right, it's one way traffic from Torchwood into DW. DW and SJA are interchangeable (the 10th & 11th Doctor, Jo Grant & the Brig, and Martha Jones, Gwen & Ianto exist in both, as well as Sarah's references to other companions), and Captain Jack crosses between them with a few tweaks to the character, but the Doctor will never apear in Torchwood.

Pity...... I'd like a more adult slightly darker Doctor Who

Thanks for the advice! I let her watch it Saturday morning and she woke up Sunday morning after having a nightmare "NOT because of Dr Who, I promise!!" lol so we'll see. I'll check out Sarah Jane Adventures too.
