I’m impressed that the orange blob called Carney our Prime Minister and not Governor as he used to call Trudeau.

That said I can’t imagine the couch fucker would do any better.

It’s a no from me. Too many guns, too much crime, and too many cultural differences between us. I’d much rather a deal with the EU, CANZUK, or some other form of strengthening the Commonwealth.

If Canada took in the good parts of the US then Canadian law would apply and you could fix the gun problem at least. It’s a no from me. Seriously though I do think it would be better if the US split into the civilised half and the south as separate nations.

I really don’t see it working. There’d have to be a pretty long transition period so I think they’d be better off just being independent. If Canada took in the good parts of the US then Canadian law would apply and you could fix the gun problem at least.

Honestly this is just Mark Butler wading into this culture war for the first time trying to appease both sides.

Both the left and the right are cautiously supporting this review, desperately hoping their worldview will be amplified/confirmed by their experts.
- The left see a federal review as a win to confirm the evidence base of gender affirming care by practitioners hence keep rogue redneck states in line.
- The right see a federal review as a win to give detransitioners a voice hence encourage a more cautious "watchful waiting" approach to trans care.

so Canada annexes all the woke/left states?
Seems like a great idea to me personally.so Canada annexes all the woke/left states?

For one we wouldn’t “annex” them, they would have to want to join us and while people like you like to focus on a handful of bad spokes people there’s nothing inherently evil or even bad about the values us “woke” or on the “left” people hold. Just like I don’t think someone being a conservative necessarily makes them a bad person. I know a few. You unfortunately aren’t oneso Canada annexes all the woke/left states?

This is exactly why they do it and why they hate public broadcasting the most.
I fail to understand why being woke is in any way wrong.
The term "woke" originally emerged from African American Vernacular English (AAVE) and referred to a heightened awareness of social injustices, particularly those related to race and systemic inequality. Over time, "woke" has evolved and can encompass a broader awareness of various social issues, including gender equality, LGBTQ+ rights, environmental justice, and more. People who think being woke is wrong really need to take a good long hard look at themselves. But then, self-reflection is woke.
Characteristics of a "Woke" Person
While the concept of being woke has garnered support, it has also faced criticism. Some argue that it can lead to performative activism or create divisiveness among groups. Critics argue that the term has been co-opted and sometimes used pejoratively to dismiss legitimate concerns about social justice.
In summary, being "woke" involves a commitment to understanding and addressing social injustices, and it typically requires ongoing education, self-reflection, and engagement with diverse communities and perspectives.
Which parts of all this do you have issues with, @Gayspie?

That is a really useful definition of woke! my parents have asked me at the dinner table but I didn't really know how to describe it.I fail to understand why being woke is in any way wrong.

The government here have used the word in a buzzword derogatory way - (ie kids would no longer be served woke foods with for lunch) which has lead to the media treating them with the respect they deserve and creating lists of woke foods

A definitive list of woke and non-woke foods
