Deaths of Minor Celebrities

...oh my god!... I am so gutted!... what a remarkable comic genius he was!... my wife and I saw him on tour last year in Sydney... he rattled out about 500 jokes in an hour or so... there were so many that I couldn't remember any of them when the show finished!... my stomach hurt from laughing so much... my jaw was aching from it... my brain was fried from digesting so much information in such little time!... one of the best times of my life!... Robin Williams... thankyou so much for all of the happy memories my friend... I will never forget... may you rest in peace... cheers.:frown:

Both our posts could have gone there I guess. Like I said it was a just cheeky throwaway remark in response to your glowing review of said movie, nothing more nothing less. :)

She's allowed to be upset and enjoy his performances, even if you don't. It is a good memory for her. She didn't say it to start a debate. Just let it go on this thread at least.

...my all time favourite movie by Robin Williams is 'What dreams my come'... a truly spectacular visually great movie... I do love this movie so much... if you've never seen it I strongly recommend that you try to see it... you will not be disappointed... strangely enough I guess... it does deal with his wife's depression and what he does to bring her out of it to be with her again... here is a review of the movie...

The most under-rated movie ever ?

26 December 2005 | by Lea Greenall (Brisbane, Australia) –

Firstly this is an adult movie. I remember when it was marketed on its release. It seemed to be targeted to all ages - Robin Williams off the back of- at that time- children's movies. It promoted the technology of the making. Overall they marketed it completely wrong, which I daresay has led it to being placed in the mediocrity bin.

However, nothing could be further from the truth. What Dreams May Come would have to be one of the most intelligent, emotional, visually beautiful, and well acted projects ever to grace the screen.

Robin Williams is masterful and Sciorra perfectly mirrors her soul mate (Williams). Their performances encapsulate all the joy and abject sorrow human life entails. It's a movie that wants you to find real love, see beyond cynicism and grasp the idea of soul mate. And it's all presented in a stunningly gorgeous montage of exquisite colour and symmetry.

From the opening shot to the closing frame, its magnificent. The story is enveloping encompassing nearly every asset of human emotion. It's a roller-coaster ride but rewarding. Comedy, hope, sadness, joy, elation, despair... all displayed perfectly.

ALL actors shine, Cuba Gooding Jr is his usual excellent self and Max von Sydow is impeccable.

The greatest movie ever? close... most under-rated movie ever? - most probably. Watch it, very few movies will touch you as What Dreams May Come will.

...I so agree with that review... it sums up the movie perfectly... even though I've seen this movie so many times it still gets a tear out of my eye every time... such a moving movie... the gamut of emotions that it evokes is truly amazing... it really is... thanks Robin... cheers.

It's one of the few movies he's been in that I haven't seen. It's going to be high on the priority list for my weekend

I haven't seen it, @Mr Stickyfingers. But how could I not after that review? I'll watch it the first chance I get.

It's one of the few movies he's been in that I haven't seen. It's going to be high on the priority list for my weekend

I watched it when I was like 10, at a sleep over. I think I need to do a re watch now that I am older so I can fully understand it.

...make sure that you have plenty of tissues handy... trust me!... lol!... Foxtel played it tonight on the Masterpiece channel as a tribute to him... I only discovered it while I was flipping through the channels by pure chance... damn it Robin... you got more than one tear out of me tonight!... great acting my friend!... cheers.

...apparently Robin was all geared up to do a Mrs Doubtfire sequel within the very near future too... what a shame we won't ever see it... that was so funny a concept of a movie... I remember him saying in an interview once somewhere that when they had to de-hair him for the role of the original Mrs Doubtfire movie that 3 women had to take turns in doing it because it was such an exhausting job because of his hairiness... he likened it to three women trying to deforest the Amazon jungle with nail scissors!... lol!... such a funny man indeed!... cheers.

Absolutely devastated about Robin. :(

I don't know what else to say other than to re-post what I uploaded to my all social media earlier today:

"Today the world lost one of the greatest entertainers of our time. A man who could make us laugh, cry and escape reality with something as simple as a sentence. His credits defined an entire generation and for a lot of us many of his movies created our entire childhood. For myself, everything from Hook to Aladdin, Mrs Doubtfire to Jumanji, Flubber and Bicentennial Man all remain some of my favourite films of all-time thanks to this man. Sadly, the world is a little bit quieter today, but hopefully he has found the happiness he must've been so desperately searching for. In the words of Aladdin, "Genie, you're now free." R.I.P. Robin Williams (1951-2014)."

I watched this at the Cinema, when it was released and I could not stop crying. The friend I was with could not understand my grief.

Reading your post, has brought up those tears again.

It is a great Movie, and well, makes you wonder what is out there ......

RIP RW RIP

Poor Robin. Depression is a terrible disease. Sounds like his childhood was pretty rough, which often never leaves a person, no matter how good life gets later. I wish the world was a kinder place, so that fewer people would have to feel this way.

As funny as he was, I liked his dramatic performances the most. I've read that part of why he was so good was because his past and his condition gave him great empathy.

So sad for everyone. At least his struggle is over.

Hey sticky, not sure that Tim would want that sort of link on the forum. You might want to delete it.
It's not a legal link ;)

How about you start and heed your own advice by not quoting me, eh? It was over but you had to stick your nose in something that didn't involve you because of your unhealthy obsession with me and gleefully grab any opportunity to take cheap shots at me.

Like I said it was a light harmless dig at the movie (not RW), this is something know colloquially as 'taking the mick'. I don't know where you're from but that's quite common in Australia where people don't usually have sticks up their butts and can take a bit of ribbing in their stride.

That is all. :)
