Deaths of Minor Celebrities

A little respect for those that have died...known or not known....someone is grieving...somewhere....and is taking comfort in the support of others.

I have absolutely no time for the gormless thuggish distraction / opiate for the simpleton masses called "ALF (I don't even know how many people make up a so called "team") and I've never heard of Jim Stynes, nor "the Irish experiment" nor "the Reach Foundation". I suspect I prolly wouldn't approve of the Reach foundation either and will now go and google it to see if my gut feeling about it is right.

Ah yes, at a glance it appears to be just another humanist cult that isn't far off pushing the same line the serpent did with Eve in The Garden just prior to the fall.

Anyhoo, if it wasn't for this thread, I would still have never heard of that particular Jim, nor the questionable "Reach Foundation".

Feel free to now fill me in on what the so called "Irish experiment" is ... and tell me how many thuggy thicky brutes there are on a footy team.

Not that the knowledge of either will turn out to be of any worth or consequence. :)

Precisely what I did with:

"Never heard of him ... and why would anyone else have ?

However, I have heard the name "Jim" and the words "he's dead" before"

There, you can see that not only did I say nothing about him but also indicated that I'd never heard of him. Not only that, but I also asked why anyone would have heard of him.

Oh well, I guess there is no pleasing some people ... particularly in an online forum that exists for people to say stuff and respond to stuff others say. :)

You don't always have to reply to posts, I know you think every though in your head is of the utmost importance and you have an overwhelming desire to share it with the masses but in some cases those amazing thoughts are best left in your noggin.
 
Apologies I misread DS' post as referring to the Red Bull man not Jim Stynes. I have nothing bad to say about Jim Stynes at all. Watched his doco last night and apart from the Cofee Enema it was very moving. Who knew Jules Lund had any depth to him?
 
What an amazing man Jimmy Stynes was. My friends husband has the same cancer as Jim and they have held him as their inspiration for awhile now. Very confronting for them at the moment.

I'm sure lots of people have - at the end of the day though...it doesn't really matter...the people who loved him will mourn and miss him...that's what matters.
 
Actually, the name is known to me (Lincoln Hall). One of our friends knew him and he is very well thought of in the community of people who do mountain climbing, caving, etc. You might be surprised just how large that community is too.
 
Isn't Lincoln the man they thought had died on a semi recent trip but he ended up trotting out of the wilderness?

NB Honouring the dead and marking their passing is one of the things that separates humans from other life forms on this planet.

Anzac Day Coming up...I'm ready to honour that too.
