That was kind of him to be understanding of Sandra, I sure as hell would have been peeved. I know David can say a lot of wrong things, but he has shown he can be a gentleman too. That fight with Lisa plays in my head and I seriously think I would have snapped at her, guy or not. He shows a great deal of patience. Like today episode, I would have questioned how people are treating me differently now

yeah the only reason why he didn't tell the girls in the pool he preferred Cat's boobs to Lisa's, was to not hurt her feelings but of course Lisa eavesdropping at the boys all talking in the bedroom about girls/her got him in trouble...

David looks great, although I knew he would. I'm glad he's seeing it as a new lease. I also think it was VERY kind of him to bring something back for Sandra. I wouldn't have given her a thing. But, I think he's a good guy. That said, I'm still not sure what I think of him, and look forward to seeing more of him. So far, all opinions have been based off how the house was treating him. Now that that seems to be done, it will be interesting to see how he plays the game. I think he'll be very strategic, which I like.

I have to add, how I rolled my eyes SO HARD when Lisa went on about how handsome he is. Every time Lisa talks to David, my phony meter goes off big time.
 
Yeah some of them were a bit OTT. Poor guy probably felt like they thought he was so ugly with it, after their reaction. And lol @ potplant Ryan thinking it was part of his gameplan..
Really hope David goes all the way.

The ironic part about all of that was that David didn't actually say that he thought Lisa's boobs were the best - he mentioned upper body, mid section - I don't think he was talking about her boobs at all - but Lisa and Cat interpreted it that way and David didn't want to say that it wasn't her boobs he was referring to.

Agreed there are a lot of phony meters in there - mostly the girls ( plus Travis)
 
Honestly, I've gone off Shavid when he's without the beard.

Hopefully he does something soon, because he seems boring now.

Hi there @bbobsever. Thanks for the little hello :)

David told me a little about the audition process and I gathered from that he was a bit of a standout. It’s kind of funny though because I would never have picked him to audition for BB let alone get that far along in the process. I guess it goes to show you can only ever be yourself in those types of situations and the BB folk know what they are looking for each and every time.

The only real difference I’m seeing in David in the house as opposed to outside the house is his awkwardness. He’s definitely not that awkward on the outside.
David on the outside can take centre stage but he doesn’t always need to be centre stage.

He's more likely to gage the other people around him and if someone else looks like they are centre stage material he'll take a back seat as they take on that role.
He has that sort of confidence and self assurance where he doesn't need to be top dog or the centre of attention but if that spotlight falls on him he'll play to it.

David is charming and engaging and in the outside world, people swarm to him. I think David probably thinks he sometimes has everyone in the palm of his hand and everyone will come over to whatever position he's spruiking. He’s not getting that same reaction in the house and that is maybe throwing him off and we’re seeing awkies David.

In terms of a side of David we haven’t seen yet, it’s hard to call. As his family I think we get a slightly different version of David than what his friendship group does. At home we see him as a loveable rogue in that he annoys us equally to how much he entertains us.

He has an a##hole side to him but it’s not evil or undermining. It’s just little brother, brutal honesty a##hole type stuff – that an overly sensitive big sister doesn’t want to hear!

Anything he does say won’t have malice and if he does upset someone (which we’ve seen) he’ll be gutted.

He is incredibly laid back and doesn’t let much eat away at him or stress him out. That approach will hopefully see him progress further and as he becomes more comfortable with his surroundings the other housemates start to see and appreciate his humor a bit more his ‘play it cool’ strategy will see him through.

Just have to survive tonight’s eviction!
 
Thanks Em, really interesting insights. Re his awkwardness I agree. I didnt see it at all in auditions so to see it early in the show has been a surprise. But let's face it, his comments re boobs or butts are things you would hear at any pub late on a Friday night.
What travis said in the same convo was worse.
My only tip would be for dave to pick his moments a fraction more carefully - Dave and I laughed so much together in auditions... being a laid back bloke I get dave's sense of humour - he just needs to be a little aware - sadly there are the fun humour police in the house who dont get him. Anyway, if anyone has been rude, and showing bad taste in the house it's travis. he walks around like he owns the joint, cant speak properly - mallllbourne - what's that about? and thinks he is king tut with the ladies - he's a tool. re evictions i reckon dave is safe as houses. i think perception is changing of him....for the good. Gemma will be sent packing first.
 
I like David. I think most of the house guests were being shallow by treating him as if he were creepy...just because of the beard. Katie and her tantrum about having to pass something to him with their chins was ridiculous...but not surprising...since she has proven to be quite shallow. Don't even get me started on Tull..I mean Lisa. First, she shouldn't eavesdrop if she is going to get upset about what she hears. Second, she only targets David with her accusations and anger. ALL of the boys were rating the girls and Travis' words were much harsher...and of course LOUDER...than any others. But she doesn't say a thing to him.

I think she is the biggest hypocrit in the house. Lectures him that he shouldn't talk about someone's looks...spends rest of week insulting his looks to others...now fawns all over his shaven face. Lectures David that she surrounds herself with guys that respects women...spends her time managing a strip club. Keeps saying all is forgiven with David...keeps bringing up boob-gate, even at dinner when he tries to clear air with everyone that she most-likely turned against him with her constant complaints and insults. Tells Skye to toughen up...cries and bitches about boob-gate...tells Gemma to toughen up. Goes on and on about girl code...flirts with friend's crush same night. Brags to partner that they will be safe for sure this week cause they HAVE to be well-liked...is warned by partner to not get cocky...is saved this week because public loves Skye...will surely think that she is the reason they were saved.

Sorry, new to board and first post. Getting pent-up aggravation out. Anyway, I think David got a raw deal with Lisa targeting him. Pair that with a dry wit that seems to get lost on everyone and the assumption that he is creepy because he has a beard...wonder if they would think exactly the same if he were completely bald and hairless...and I think it become a pack mentality. Even Travis...who was just as guilty if not more of boob-gate...starts lecturing him and showing the same disrespect Lisa was at that dinner. Then there is Sandra...with partners like her...who needs enemies? And to think Gemma was saying Skye had the depth of a paddling pool. I think most of them are far more shallow...

I completely agree. I am also pretty laid back...but of the female species...and totally get David's dry wit. What I don't get...is why they are taking him so seriously? The girls...and guys jumping on the bandwagon...need to lighten up. THEY are the ones embarrassing themselves...not David.

To be fair, Lisa is sticking to the "girl code" quite well so far.
 
I think that was more to do with perceptions and age difference than the "girl code". Who knows, time will tell.

On topic, if she cracks onto David after BoobGate there will be hell to pay LOL. She was probably hoping for a type like Matthew 2013 to hook up with, as opposed to a Jake 2014.
 
I agree, Lisa is all about her perception and is coming across quite pathetic.
She'll be found out soon.
