Big Brother Cancelled... Again

I probably wouldn't be happy if they changed to the U.S. Format because to be honest, I find it boring with the evictions! Because once the housemate vote, you know who is going! Where is AUS and UK it's the suspense that I really like and who's going and it gets the country involved when it's public voting! I think it brings family together with the evictions because you al sit there watching and waiting with Gretel's or Sonia's: "It's Time To Go" and then they wait like 30 seconds and then when they announce their name, your scream, you cry, your happy, your sad but I love the format we have at the moment! The nominations I like at the moment how the housemates choose who is nominated not just 1 housemate chooses who's nominated! I like how there can more en 2 or 3 housemates nominated! Also I don't like in the U.S. Version there's a HOH, I think they should bring back the 2005-2007 format with FNL and if you win it you get the reward room, the chores, the 3 point twist or the save and replace twist! Personally I don't think the U.S. version would work in Australia after so many seasons of public voting not the housemates voting, so that's my opinion! :D

I'm the same I enjoy the suspense of the evictions after the host says it's time to go. I love BBUS but we know who goes almost every time before the last housemate votes. And their competitions aren't as good as FNL challenges. I hate watching nominations night sometimes but I'd much rather it then the way the U.S. Nominates.

Yeah, Same, I completely agree! :p

The US style version has plenty of unanimous or near unanimous evictions, with the HMs knowing well beforehand who is getting evicted.

They have live feed but if they cut it to only 3 HLs shows like that version the live feed will become in effect the spoiler feed, because you have to wait days to see the most important events (the competitions).

On the plus side they tend to have less emphasis on showmances. But the competition aspect has been in the Australian version in the past, when they did Friday Night Games, so that isn't only associated with US style BB.

In all seriousness I would gladly welcome the U.S. style format however with some alterations. If they had a 5-6 week daily show schedual and allowed the public to vote out one of the nominees as well as the ultimate winner then I think it could work. I do agree that the show needs some weight of Change. However I'm starting to think that Big Brother 2016 is also not going to happen. With CH9 airing Australia's got talent, the voice, possibly two series of the block and they also have a new reality show specialising with the NRL coming up I pm starting to wonder if there is any actual room for Big Brother. It looks like we might just have to hope that TEN or SEVEN will pick it up. Although it's highly unlikely. Actually I'm convinced it's over forever. I really hope it comes back but I just can't see it returning any time soon.

For channel Seven, they basically have half of the year empty at this point, so Big Brother could be an opportunity for them. Highly unlikely though.

I'd be willing to let loser go if it meant getting back BB[DOUBLEPOST=1439688376][/DOUBLEPOST]

Lol yes it's just been so shit for ages

It was just shit the minute it was conceived. Who the hell wants to watch a bunch of fatties rolling around? I'm paraphrasing what a BBB poster's husband/friend supposedly said to her in regards to this show which I 100% agree with. :p

The things people watch for entertainment. Let's see a bunch of desperado shameless slags fighting each other over who gets to win the affection of some guy; randoms competing in cooking and renovation shows, etc..

And yet it is Big Brother that cops constant flak from idiots.

I used to love it but after I started watching big brother I realised that it's not really worth being on TV. Last years rated at like 250,000. Almost a third of big brothers ratings and they don't bring BB back and biggest loser comes back. It's quite stupid if you ask me. Loser didn't deserve to return this year.[DOUBLEPOST=1439695894][/DOUBLEPOST]

I suspect that it's the voyeuristic nature of Big Brother that bothers some people (haters) and the fact that interactions between the 'contestants' can get a bit 'smutty' which obviously doesn't go down well with parents and the oldies.

I find it fascinatingly entertaining though. I've said before and I'll say it again, BB is a human version of a zoo and often times can unintentionally be amusing as well.

That is in stark contrast to the vast majority of reality shows which are incredibly contrived via editing hence sanitized to pander to the family demographic which also means they are for the most part fairly bland, predictable and dull.

Hasn't ten got a new CEO this year? I'm interested to see there business plan for 2016 soon. However Big brother, I have no hope but I wish it comes back to ten.

The great thing about any BB format is that it can be tailored to suit a particular audience... If a network like TEN were going to run a show based on the US format it would need to undergo modifications in order to win over it's desired audience... Adding some production elements from BBAU such as stripping the show over 5 to 6 nights a week or a large live audience can easily be achieved...

The one thing I will say though is that the US format works because the power is concentrated within the house itself and not with the viewers... Having the public vote to evict or chose the winner would essentially cripple the format and completely change the fundamental dynamics of why the US series is so popular... That's not to say that there aren't ways around working in viewer participation in the format...

If you understood those dynamics in a greater capacity you'd understand that essentially handing over The Power of Veto to the public has a HUGE impact on "the game" and weekly outcomes... There is also potential for the viewers to have a say in the final outcome as well...

The scenario works like this... The public would become the final member of the jury... The public will vote for their favorite and the person with the largest percentage of the popular vote would have one final vote cast in their favor... Once again an understanding of game dynamics would tell you how much of a massive potential impact this would have...

The Block VS MKR VS I'm a Celebrity

Reno Rumble/The Voice VS House Rules VS Masterchef

The Hotplate VS Restaurant Revolution VS Spelling Bee/ The Bachelor - (The Voice is against nothing)

The Block VS X Factor VS Biggest Loser/ Bachelor

So far it's been non stop Cooking shows. Atleast channel ten have variety

I think Celebrity Apprentice will be at an 8.30 slot so that won't be against any major reality show

I guess it does make more sense to change it up. It might just work if a channel is up to it.[DOUBLEPOST=1439706009][/DOUBLEPOST]

TEN is better at reality. Every quarter of their year is a different theme. Nine and seven have too much cooking/singing/reno

Glad you agree... Including a BB style public vote would make the rest of the format little more than a gimmick rather than a complete overhaul of the format... The strategic ways in which the public vote is incorporated in this format is actually more engaging... The public essentially becomes the final HM and are actively involved in playing "the game" from week to week... Right now as it stands BB is basically just a spectators sport...

Although I am quite attached to BBAU I'm willing to try something new. I just don't want the show to drift away from its for,st of being a social experiment. Although it has. I would welcome the U.S. Format however I would still hope that we would be able to see all aspects of the housemates rather then just their strategic side. But if it does come back it deffintly needs a major revamp.

Last year's strategy talk and head of house was a complete fizzer. It either doesn't fit into Australian residents' psyche or production didn't prepare or display it well enough (or both).
