Where are we getting this information? Your ass?

200 days would be 17th November, could it actually be that that's when we will see the casting call, and BB won't start until 2026? It was a very vague graphic, if it said "200 Days Until Big Brother Launches" it would be a bit more concrete, but I feel "Countdown to Big Brother" leaves more questions than answers.

I did a quick Google search and apparently for the 2006 season, auditions were held across November and December in 2005 with a launch date of 22nd April. This was also the case for the 2007 season, Nov/Dec auditions for a 22nd April launch.

Is it likely we will be seeing BB in April/May next year instead?
Yes that would hit right in the Nostalgia as well, y'all remember how hyped we got when a pre-launch teaser ad finally dropped in the TEN era? (hmm Whats this cutesy ad with Birds Bees and Rainbows... Oh sheeit ITS HAPPENING ITS A BB AD! lol) Seriously. 🤣
You knew April/May was on the horizon and BB Season was near Haha.

Source. Fucking source FFS. How many times do you need to be told?

Spotted this in last Friday’s TV Tonight weekly newsletter.
This could be Survivor USA. Channel nine has the rights to air the current season, Channel 10/Paramount holds previous seasons. I notice season 48 is currently airing, but season 47 (which finished airing just before christmas) is not yet on channel 10. I would imagine however the contracts around this works causes some issues.

I don't think that's interesting enough to warrant inclusion in a newsletter. Big Brother fits that bill more and especially Seven being arses for the sake of it, especially when so much of their own current line up is shows they've taken from other networks too.

Blame solely on the production company though - you'd have thought they'd have learned after the lengthy lock out clause in the C9 deal which was twice as long as they held the rights. OK, seems shorter here but still hard to justify anything over a year. I suspect part of the dispute would be Seven airing their final series six months later than their earlier series and when exactly the lockout period began - thought that should be explicit in any contract.

Seven though is basically a very toxic ex - they don't want you but don't want anyone else to have you either.

IDK my understanding was that the holdback wasn’t about “rights” to BB but was about a right 7 still had under their contract. They were never saying 10 couldn’t have the show but that Endemol Southern Star had jumped the gun allowing 10 to go public with it when they did. I’d imagine that if there were any sour grapes we’d have heard more about it.

It’s been said a million times over but recruitment or people that come with an established following don’t necessarily make for bad HM’s. While I don’t think someone’s status, ambitions, or number of followers should automatically put them ahead in the casting process, I don’t think it should be disqualifying either.

Casting nowadays is very different too - makes little sense to disregard people casting agents may already be familiar with but they should be filtering into the main casting process.

I was scouted for The Traitors last year (along with thousands of others I suspect) so I can't really accuse scouted contestants of being non-genuine fkin cekebs.

It’s also not as if most recruits are guaranteed anything other than being fast tracked through the initial cattle call stage. At the end of the day what’s most important is that they aren’t going out looking for some sort of cheap gimmick. As we saw with the C5 era of BBUK casting higher profile HM’s did absolutely nothing to increase quality of the show/ratings in the long term.

I think it's more likely than not we get at least one higher profile person (eg. small town commercial radio host or tiktoker/social media personality). These people know how to form an identity / have an "entertaining" (YMMV, of course) personality and typically just have that "it" factor that casting agents look for.

Plus - they bring things like a built-in fanbase the show can leverage into short-term ratings in a first season boost, and/or some sense of PR management that will make them a "safe" pick (less likely to do controversial stuff).

This is what I was talking about… While I’m totally fine with these types of people, as let’s be honest in 2025 these are legitimate and recognized lines professions, but they should be cast on their own merits/personality, NOT because production believe their established following is going to bring in viewership.

I wouldn't be surprised if the decision is a little bitta A, a little bitta B given it's the first season back on Channel 10 and they'll want strong ratings given how things ended up at 7 (and with the last run on 9, to be fair). But I agree that as long as it's not entirely B and we end up with boring people who you realise can only keep up a character for a ten-second soundbyte.

I could live with it being a secondary decision but for the most part I’m standing by what I’ve said. In order for this series to really take off there needs to be a return to authenticity.

As for ratings… The show returning to 10 with live feeds is going to be enough to spark at least curiosity.

Also consider they’re currently the lowest rated commercial network so expectations of anything slightly better than what their competitors would consider average/lower end ratings should be considered a roaring success.

As I’ve said countless times now the focus for this series should be on the fundamentals not perfection and/or gimmicks. While I won’t hate on someone for being cast with an established following, if it’s clear that’s the only reason they’re a HM it’s something I won’t be able to unsee.

I’d also like to say that my expectations for this series are pretty tempered… And
by that I mean as long as it’s clear they’ve made an effort they’ll get full marks. If they’ve played their cards right a slightly better than average series is going to preform tenfold. Especially airing off the back of Survivor in a House/Diet Love Island. That said giving them full marks doesn’t mean I won’t be critical.

Tbh a lot of US survivor’s best characters didn’t even apply for survivor or were just recruited by Lynne Spillman herself.

I’m not really bothered if there is the odd local radio presenter or “influencer”. A lot of the time they’re not even that well known even if they’re classified as such. Models are a very common casting troupe in Aus RTV anyway.

As long as they’re interesting and relatable the series will do what it can. The love island casting approach is what should be avoided more so than ensuring people don’t have any sort of platforms. I’m sure that a lot of the casuals won’t even pay much attention to what career most housemates have anyway.

As long as viewers can see visibly relatable and interesting people then I don’t care much where they come from. At the end of the day it is a TV show, despite myself probably not wanting to admit that in the past.
