People of that degree should be avoided. But the term influencer is thrown around a bit too easily IMO. But you do raise a good point tho that I do agree with.
If I had to guess however, TEN are likely to take this a bit more seriously than anyone will say that will. I’ve kind of been doubting them a bit as of late, but nothing is set in stone yet.
Also that media spy commenter who claims the show is going to be closer to ten weeks, I looked at their previous posts and they seem to be reputable. They’ve posted correct leaked information about other shows.

But if they’re doing their job right a potential 100k strong army should be irrelevant either way… They’re either going to charm the pants off everyone or eventually reveal a part of themselves that’s not shown on social media.
Trying to compare a live format with feeds to the heavily edited 7 series is like comparing apples to oranges. It’s all the more reason why we need a decent length series in order to truly see what they’re like when the walls come down.
At the end of the day it’s doesn’t matter if someone has 100K or 10 the haters are going to hate. Didn’t Fardia cop shit for having something like 30K on TikTok for her makeup tutorials?

If anything tropes should be avoided at all costs as well as blatant casting for conflict. Don’t get me wrong I love a good drama but a show like BB is far more interesting when it’s allowed to naturally evolve than when they’re at each others throats from week 1. To me BB is the epitome of watching what happens when people stop being polite and start getting real.

Anyone interested in seeing the closet thing to what my vision for this era of BB please message me and I’ll see what I can dig up of both the original and this reunion series… While I can quite put my finger on it what they did here is the essence of what 10 should be going for.

Well yes, returning to the old format with feed(s) will definitely give better insights than either Nine or Seven's version. But as I've said many, many times before I just don't think they should cast anyone with a big social media presence. Let's have a level playing field.
I do think that having a social media following shouldn't actually affect the voting too much though right? Since HM's are sworn to secrecy and put in lockdown, they'll have no way to rally their own followers to vote for them. If they lose the ability to post on their own social media, most people that don't watch BB won't notice their absence for 2 or 3 months since social media always fills the gaps. Also it's probably unlikely that anyone with a decent following would have a big Australian follower percentage anyway, at least not enough to skew the votes without constantly posting and reminding people.
All of that to say, I agree with those who are saying there probably will be at least a couple influencer types in the house since it's a common job in this day and age.

Reddit is dangerous, most Australian subs do not speak very highly of reality tv in general, let alone big brother. The BBAU sub seems to be plagued with lots of channel 7 fans, they wouldn’t appreciate it anyway.
Whilst I agree it doesn't necessarily result in higher votes most HMs have their social media managed during their time on the show. Indeed part of the reason casting people favour them is because they can reach their followers online - and let's be honest for the new BB to succeed it needs to get younger viewers switching from their mobile screens to their TV screens - or at the very least pushing content to them digitally.
Indeed that isn't something we've talked about much - the digital strategy. We saw how in the Nine era there was basically nothing with almost no updates between shows either on socials or their own website.
The BB websites used to be so good back in the day - way ahead of their time. Nowadays broadcasters think a link to watch episodes and some non-news based social content (polls, pre-entry info from HMs) constitutes a 360 approach.
That is why a 24/7 live feed is so important- it enables fans to do the work for you and promote the show around the clock. Producers need to support the fans though, not copyright strike them for any video or even screenshot posted as ITV started doing last year.
I hope 10 creates a Bluesky account for it, and doesn't just fall back on toxic Twitter. I've always thought it was a shame BB was ahead of the available tech at the time. Broadband was rare and Twitter would have been a perfect match had it been around in 2001. But forums such as this one definitely stepped up and did the show a huge favour. Even when they were critical of it, they created news and publicity and added to the buzz.

Remembering back to the Logan twins. I can't remember which one it was now as it was too long ago. One of them came into the salon I work in, to use the solarium - which doesn't exist anymore.
It was embarrassing, as he was so familiar from being on the TV , I thought i knew him!
Had time to read that now - excellent piece and not much, if anything, in there I disagree with. The key thing is to let Big Brother be Big Brother rather than make it something it isn't. That doesn't mean it has to be what it was in 2001 because frankly BBAU wasn't the same in 2003, 2006 or 2008 as it was in 2001 either. It just needs to obviously share the same DNA.
It needs to be treated as a first series so be light on twists - remembering if you throw in a twist week after week then they aren't actually twists but just a messy and inconsistent format. To be fair BBAU very rarely deviated from the regular nominations format during the Ten era which was both a positive and negative thing, and to their credit I do think the Superpower introduced by Nine was exactly the right way to update the process - a twist which although varied felt consistent and fair rather than something new being thrown in.
I think one other area where BBUK fails is with the tasks - they feel inconsequential because if they lose them producers just give them parties or treats every day anyway and if they win producers find an excuse to punish the HMs and take away their shopping. The tasks also need to have clear parameters rather than being obviously be set up to create the producers desired outcome before the HMs have even read the task. And also make sure it's always the HMs who assign roles in tasks, not the producers. That is where real tension can come from, not manipulative tasks where you find an excuse for HMs to have to publicly slag each other off.

I'll never get why ITV decided to imitate the needy, overbearing "Welcome to my new game in my new house, me me me, do you like playing my game???" character from the 7-era. And very transparently, in the early days of the reboot.
Bring back BB talking in the third person! And bring back "That is all"!
