Lol I met Drew last night. Well, kind of. He works at a bar in Melbourne that’s said to be quite popular. I got there like 30 minutes before they closed and he was one of the door bitches there and said “sorry guys we close at 3”. I was then like “omg you’re drew from BB” he smiled and said yes and then started to slowly walk away. He didn’t seem very interested in speaking about it. He could have just not wanted to speak to a random drunk fan lol. That’s the second housemate from 2013 I’ve randomly met in the city now that wasn’t interested in talking.
Yeah I think he talked on Tully's podcast how he doesn't really enjoy the attention from BB anymore. Which is ironic because it's about to kick off all over again.

Which completely proves my/our point from earlier in this thread. He was coaxed into it, probably with a financial incentive, for Seven’s puppetry. Prove me wrong.

That would make sense. The moment I said the words "Big Brother" the smile he gave was almost fake. Not in the way that he was rude, more so he clearly didn't enjoy being recognised and really didn't want me to ask any questions or say anything else. 13 year old me would be heart broken to know that meeting Drew wouldn't be what I hoped.

Its possible he was having a bad night, or that he's had so many people ask the same questions over and over (or approach him at inappropriate times - not that you've done either here) that he's just over it.

I did think that too. My friend with me said "they say never meet your heroes". The industry he works in is pretty taxing, I know when customers I serve come up towards close all I want to do is say fuck off. And yes, with the show coming out soon he's in for a lot of recognition and resurfacing in the media. He probably isn't too keen on it. At the very least he did smile and acknowledge that I was a fan, he could have been rude but he wasn't. I won't sleep at night until I go back again LOL. Oh well. Reggie and Vensa were overwhelmingly keen to let me get to know them, so I am very much satisfied with that.

from things I have read and seen before it seems like he has been embarassed to be associated with BB for years, not even staying friends witha a lot of the 2013 housemates. So yes I would say there would have been an interesting and enticing incentive, especially if he knew Tully was going to be there, to go back in.

I saw Nobbi probably around a year after he was in BB at a shopping centre here in Melbourne, he was with a few mates I seriously thought about approaching him for a chat about BB then I just thought he's probably too busy with his friends so I just kept on walking by.

I also saw the "Starburst" lollies winner who entered the BB house many years ago when they ran some competition when it was on channel 10. He was walking across the road at the traffic lights in front of me...lol. I was like "oh that was the "Starburst" lollies winner housemate...lol

Cheers!

I do feel for ex housemates in this regard. A lot of them who havent actively pursued and milked the 15 minutes of fame just have moved on and want to be known more than just an ex bb contestant- like it defines them as a person. But at the same time want to be respectful and not rude to fans. Its a hard fence to straddle.
Those who continually perpetuate their glimpse of fame are fair game imo. But its not an easy position to be in. Considering that in most cases its been a decade or more since their time. Who wants to be constantly reminded or even pestered on occassions of stuff of over 10 years ago.
We all move on. I feel sympathy for those having to deal with long distant histories of their lives. They are not play dolls which are prevalent in fans fond memories. They are evolving humans too who just want to exist in new phases of their lives.

Someone has uploaded this montage of various Big Brother opening themes from around the world. Seriously Australia shouldn't even be in that montage at all we don't have an opening theme at all it's garbage.

Reading back here and people talking about the crappy quality channel 7 has been using for the older housemate clips it doesn't surprise me they don't want to make an effort to introduce a decent official opening theme. You'd think being a nostalgic retro "Back To The Future" series they would at least try and play the original opening theme for some nostalgia? I mean how hard would it be for channel 7 to just play the original BB theme music from channel 10 during this series, it wouldn't even cost them a cent...lol ;)

Well, technically that’s not true.

Retrieving the rights to past footage is one thing (and, if my memory serves me correctly, is often bought alongside the rights of the show itself - at least it was when Nine took it over). Music copyright licenses, however, are a completely different - and costly - thing. And yes, even the various iterations of the theme song will be owned by somebody

Is that really a big thing tho theo? Apart from connectivity? Its obvious the new season is covering all bases with the current social media types vs old perennials from yesteryear. I find it absolute weak hedging trying to be inclusive to all generations. And as such, will be divisive and not really that interesting. I dont really understand this approach except for just a lazy middling platform which will not appease either older or younger audiences. And imo.....a pretty cheap stunt whilst trying to dig up the bones of dinosaurs in conjunction with the new norm.

Ok, I just thought that all the rights to the music and themes etc would be owned and copyrighted by "Endemol" who are now working with channel 7 for this new Big Brother show. Anyway I guess it was the only way I was thinking we'd possibly get any sort of BB theme from the channel 7 version.

I agree it does look rather apathetic and probably reflects that this is, quite simply, just another tv show to production and the motivation is making money rather than anything remotely sentimental. But I also agree that it’s not a huge issue to use old low res video.

I wonder if it will ever be “leaked” how much the returning HMs get paid? Some would have been much more willing than others, Drew’s main motivation must have been money?

Is he still signed with RGM? I’m guessing not since that was a long time ago and he didn’t book any work. I kind of liked the idea of his spontaneous acting career taking off and Jade’s calculated one tanking, but alas not so.

The OG Song was done by '001 Productions' iirc back in the day, also the 'Diary Room Mix' is a jam as well, massive nostalgia for the way they played it under the Evictee arriving on the golf buggy and walking through the long hallway to the stage in BB2002, that bassline creeping in and then pumping.

and in the 03/04 version mix when they added the little 'who-oh-ah' haha. I have Both soundtracks for 2001/2002. That song 'What Ya Gonna Do' by 'Cry Baby' was catchy, early 00's Aussie (I Presume, and also think they were a bit of an obscure act) Pop.

To this day, both make an appearance on my playlist in the car regularly - as well as 2001’s “The Housemate’s Song”.

The “Diary Room Mix” is such a great treadmill tune, too.

Lol I admit it might be a bit of a stretch, however its not totally ridiculous, look at the original promo of Reggie, they put those VCR style horizontal lines as a filter over the old footage.

I think they're doing that to disguise the blurryness lol.

That promo brings tears to my eyes though. Tim and Reggie are going to be so good in there together. That's what I'm most looking forward to seeing. I hope they vote out Tully at the first opportunity.
