Actually to fit in an 85ish days series it would have to start Monday 1st September or Tuesday ins September and end on Wednesday of the final week of ratings 26th November.

Thanks Goon! So I'm still sticking with this ^^^. If they follow last year's rollout, they'll do at least 5 weeks of ads so I expect we'll start seeing them mid August.
Late September means 8 weeks series (which would be the shortest Australian series ever)

In that case my guess would be starting in second week of September and running to the end of ratings. 12 week series.

So either the Block is shorter or some definite overlapping
Im going with this but only if The Block starts next Sunday. Otherwise its prob the 3rd Week of Sep if they wait for The Voice to end in 2 weeks.

Unless they drop the # of episodes of BB each week or shift it partially to GO, I have zero faith that they'll run The Block and BB simultaneously. In January when it was announced the hour long news was to be permanent, the Telegraph reported "Nine has confirmed the expanded bulletins are here to stay with A Current Affair permanently moving to 7pm and former 7pm reality hits The Block and Big Brother shunted to 7.30pm." http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/en...ock-fans-v-faves/story-fni0cc2c-1226796517727

Unless they've got rocks in their head there's no way they're messing with a format that's kicking ass for them especially when they have shows like 60 Minutes, The Footy Show and House Husbands to accommodate that all meet and pass BB ratings. And they obviously can't run both shows at 7:30 on the same channel. Nine says both will be in a 7:30 time slot so what's the alternative? They're not going to shorten The Block to make way for BB that's for sure.

Yeah my concerns exactly. That means the shortest BB season in AU history :-( *cry*
It is possible, though, that this Block is shorter than the usual 11 week length. After already airing fans vs faves and the strength of House Rules this year they may be wary of Reno-show-overload.

Although @Mrs Butterface I wouldn't COMPLETELY dismiss the idea of both series overlapping. They did shift Big Brother around a bit last year with some episodes starting later (after Hamish and Andy) etc. I would take that article with a grain of salt. Nine (and Australian commercial networks in general) are inept at scheduling. They totally miss the fact that consistent scheduling works in the favour of ratings and vice versa.

I have zero faith that back when that article was written they had any idea what they were going to do with Big Brother. Even that article with Alex saying they wanted 90minute episodes I take with a grain of salt.

It could be 7:30 Block 8:30 BB and 9:30 HH/ footy show / international dramas etc.
60minutes won't be effected if they don't have Sunday BB episodes again.

Big Brother starts in

i just hope BB airs at a later time slot. after watching BBCAN and BBUK, i don't want to see ours a family friendly edited show. give me mature!!!

Not until September? I'm so sad. This is my favorite version of big brother. The only thing that ever happens on BBUS is strategy and nominations talk. I loved last season of BB Australia because the housemates were more fun and creative than the U.S. (Not to mention all the good looking people.)

I just loved the Australian version and I think it showed Australia well.

By the way, I was listening to a rob has a podcast show about amazing race. They were very confused about Australia not announcing when shows will start months in advance. They seem to plan to cover amazing race Australia.

im pretty sure this Block is shorter as they are slotting it in this year and it didnt take long to film. I think this glass house will have less rooms to renovate than the Blocks they usually have as its an old office.

nah, its being advertised as the biggest block ever, but that said we know they really struggled in the first few weeks, so my theory is that it IS a short season, but they're cramming alot of the rooms in together (doing multiple rooms a week, 3+ I'm thinking), cause you wouldn't be struggling if you only had one or two a week even if they are all newbies, so they're cramming it from the get go.

Thats TV talk for "we cant say this is a smaller production, no one would watch" they prob mean big as in the size of the project but theres 5 couples so it should be a shorter run, unless they eliminate the fat minorities team first.

Well this is Channel Nine and I would not put it past them too get rid of as you put it "the fat minorities team" although Sky high had 5 teams. So I think the 5 teams will be there for the entire run.

teams dont get eliminated on the block...
Umm yeah they do. Last season they had the first few episodes where 2 teams would go head to head in a room design challenge and whoever won would make it onto the block and therefore the other team that lost was eliminated.

You know they just chose that other couple so they didnt look racist. channel 9 casting list. young, attractive, heterosexual, sporty, media connections
(ex AFl player) and all the women have to be blonde or feisty.
