BBAU 2014 Launch Date 7th/8th September

Well really that's just my guess after seeing people wonder if they'd run both shows at the same time and then confirming the start/end times last year. The first BB ads of 2013 ran at least 5 weeks before it aired as this guy did a fan vid of the original on June 20 and that was smack in the middle of The Block. So yeah, unless they're changing the time slot to late night and skipping Thursdays altogether because of The Footy Show or moving it completely to GO, I don't think it's going to start until The Block ends. I hope I'm wrong though!

Yup, and I'm inclined to agree - sorry if my post sounded otherwise :egg:

Last year BB launched the day after The Block Sky High ended and I can't see them changing that unless they shift BB to a later timeslot or to GO. There's no room for both shows every night otherwise and even if they hadn't already been airing ads for The Block for a few weeks now, we know it takes precedence over BB. They're both cornerstone shows for Ch 9 and while The Block is obviously the much bigger one, it makes little sense for Ch9 to double up each night. It'd be like Ch 7 running MKR and House Rules at the same time instead of starting one when the other ends. You stretch it out so you have another big show to try to compete with instead of just killing the ratings for 3 months and then your next 3 months are empty. My official punt: Since The Block is starting 2 1/2 months later than last year, BB will start no sooner than late September.
But if it started in late September wouldn't it continue after the ratings period had ended? Unless it is a really short season like round 60 days.

No not at all! I just didn't want it to make it sound like I had some sort of clue... I'm merely trying to piece together things and that's what I came up with. Didn't want to lead you astray. xo

Or maybe they're shifting part of it to GO or they're just using it to beat whatever the other stations put up in the same time frame since it's not like BB gets killer ratings anywy? Realistically how could they run both The Block and BB concurrently? That's what I'm stuck on. Unless they shift BB to late night, there's no way. People aren't going to stick with 2 daily shows at the same time for 3 months on the same channel. It's hard enough to get them there for one and The Block will always win, as we know as their ads have been out for weeks. I think they'll do what they did last year if it stays on Ch 9 and not sent to an offshoot: Use The Block to start hyping up BB midway through and then launch it close to or when The Block is done. Tim said he was preparing to go in the house at this time last year. We know they haven't even picked the HMs yet and the house isn't done. They need lockdown and hype time so to me August is out.

I don't see the show moving, or partially moving to GO! - and that's based purely on the disaster that was the first (and only) Sunday daily show that aired on GO! in 2012 where a mere 0.23 million people watched it, compared to the 1.42 million that watched the Live show that immediately followed on Nine.

If the Block is starting the week after the Voice finishes (we don't even actually know that yet) that leaves 18 weeks of ratings. I can't see the block being any less than 10 weeks and more likely to be another 11 week season.

They just might run bb later and have the block at 6;30 or something? They might be trying to draw in block viewers to give bb a try. if that worked it would increase bb viewers DRAMATICALLY.

Exactly. Even though Big Brother doesn't get the best ratings, I still don't see them risking losing about 1 million viewers as per your example.

thought i had better help Goon out here

thanks for your patience, help yourself while you are waiting :)

I really don't see Nine scrapping their hour long news and ACA to run The Block at 6:30. I just don't see Nine giving up shows that rate pretty well on a regular basic all year long, but hey I could be wrong, we all know that Nine are shithouse at programing so anything is possible with the bunch of idiots that work at Nine.

Lol of course they won't.

And just be thankful they are better than Ten ATM.

so basically, we're having a teeny tiny BB season this year... :(

Yeah I can't see that either. Often both of their news shows beat Ch 7 in the ratings and even win the whole night so I can't see them chucking that hour away. Those news wars are serious business lol. Plus I think even the shittiest programming team would understand that running two daily reality shows at the same time would be insane. It's hard enough to maintain a viewer's attention for 3 months with one of them. They're not going to make major changes to a schedule that's already doing well to accommodate a show that is lucky to break a million viewers.

Make sure you are on here tonight at 7.30pm to find out which Month Big Brother will be starting.

Spread the word.
Will you be revealing the month or is it in a more official way.... say through the official BBAU twitter... either way I'm happy, this news will give everyone here something to speculate on.
