2016 Today I...

Yesterday I got busted shoplifting from Dan Murpheys.

Fuck you very much to the two undercover cops and the doofus who just stood there gawking.

Ha !

Meanwhile, and in "Another World" ...

And you can get into the Warhol exhibition from 11pm for just $10, usually 40ish I think.

Beginner's Guide to Comic Art: Characters.

My comp copies arrived today!!

Back in September 2015 I was asked by http://3dTotal.com to contribute to the above named book. I was able to get Dmitry Grebenkov to provide a pencilled image that he'd done, get James Goodwin to ink it up for me literally overnight (in order to be able to colour it within the deadline) and then get it coloured and the text article of 1500 words written. All while also doing the day job with exam writing to be done at the same time!

I managed to get two comp copies off them because the editor happens to be an ex-teacher. I mentioned that I'd donate the second one to the library of the school where I teach and she agreed! Yay for me!

They used my coloured image for the intro splash/publishers page as well as on the cover as can be seen. We also got a couple of gallery pages at the back and for those I was able to use some coloured images by Andrey Lunatik, with inks by Matt James and Geoff Neupert
The book is available for order online here --> https://shop.3dtotal.com/books/3dtotalpublishing/beginners-guide-comic-art-characters.html#t1 if anyone is inclined to buy one for themselves. :)

Today I went to what was once my local festival, now it has been listed as a Melb Food & Wine event, far out, over run, x 10 times more people.
No longer my nice little local I could cruise for lunch & take dinner home and dance.

"Today I ..." finally relented to the nags and allowed W10 to cannibalize Win7 on an old / spare laptop.

Not only did I do this to see if the old hardware would run any better after the snake had finished eating it's tail, but also to later gain the satisfaction of banishing it from the garden with an install of lubuntu linux.

ButOfCourse the occasion also provided an opportunity for expressing some of my own notions regarding "art". :-)

Well...crap.

Just got rear ended in my Mazda 6 about an hour ago.

Bought the car brand new 6 months ago, not a scratch on it... Now looking decidedly dented. Bumper's bent, boot lid is bent. Will still close and lock so the car is still driveable and the taillights are fine, but... dammit...

Woooorst!

Sorry to hear that mate. Hope they are insured and getting it fixed is a relatively easy process!

Yeah RAC to the rescue!! I'm fully covered and they've already said its 100% his fault since I was stopped at the lights and he's simply slid into me in the wet.

But with Easter coming up I don't think it'll get fixed within 3 weeks or so...

Oh that sucks - glad to hear it's getting sorted though, the insurers are pretty good. I crashed my car just before xmas and I had a hire car that I was meant to return on Christmas Eve, not exactly convenient. Even though my rego and thus insurance was cancelled on that day they let me rent it for a few more weeks, so hopefully you are similarly not too affected by the holiday period!

I was about right with the 3 week estimate. It's 2.5 weeks... Booked in for April 7th and it'll take 5 days or so. That's actually the first week of the school holidays so it makes things easier for me actually.

He said its mainly the beaver panel under the bumper that absorbed most of the damage - as its meant to. The boot lid has a small crease about 2 inches long in it but is otherwise ok according to the panelbeater guy. But he'll see better when they get things realigned.

Meanwhile I continue to drive "El Dento" the Mazda which is still 96% a new car...

Oh yeah it's awkward when a car is roadworthy but seriously beat up, at least it's getting fixed and at a more convenient time for you.

...Today I:... have finally found time to write on this wonderful website... (I've just been so busy as of late)... well guess what?... for going on 63 years I have only ever seen the colours red and yellow... (and of course black and white and grey)... being colour blind that I was... well... a few weeks ago my sweet darling wife called me into the loungeroom to watch 'A Current Affair' or whatever it was and on it they were talking about 'Colourblind Glasses' that were made by an American company called 'Enchroma' and that they enabled us colour blind people to see full colour again!...

...of course I was so skeptical about the report and just said 'that has to be bullshit surely?"... so I went onto their website and looked through everything that they had on there about them... they showed links to videos of people wearing them for the first time and you also have you do a color blind test to see what kind of colour blindness catagory that you fall into... I was in the 'moderate deutan' colour blind range which meant that I had about an 80% chance of seeing all colours if they worked for me...

...anyhow... I decided to take the plunge and went for it... I took the test and then picked out which glasses style I wanted and ordered them... they were the 'Receptor' wrap around sunglasses type that fit over my prescription glasses that I have to wear all the time... here's what they look like...

upload_2016-4-14_11-54-43.png

and also the website and a link to a review on them for those that are interested...

http://www.smithsonianmag.com/innov...uld-correct-color-blindness-180954456/?no-ist

...you can send away for Prescription lenses to suit your own eyesight but because I read that after 3-6 months a lot of colour blind people no longer need to wear them to see colour any longer I decided to get these... the Prescription ones cost more and you have to send them your prescription and it takes longer for delivery obviously... as you can see they were $349 US Dollars plus about $66 US Dollars delivery postage... all up they worked about to be a total of $554.47 Australian for them to be delivered to my front door... I ordered them last Friday and recieved them at my front door on Monday!... colour me impressed! <--- (see what I did there)... lol!... they say that it may take up to 15 minutes for some peoples eyes to pick up the colours...

...my dear wife and youngest daughter and her husband were there when I first tried them on and our daughter videoed it on her phone camera... we were sitting on our back verandah and I had decided that I wanted to see the colour 'blue' first out of all of them (since I was about 5 years old blue has always been my favourite colour even though I had never seen it lol!)... so I looked up to the sky and put them on...

...I just stared at first because I couldn't see any colour for about 20 seconds and immediately thought... "as I thought... total bullshit!... what a waste of money!"... and then bang!... my eyes adjusted to them and I SAW BLUE!... I was gobsmacked!... I then looked down to see the green grass and trees in our back yard... I was amazed at just how many different greens there were!... and then I looked at my darling wife and daughter and son-in-law and couldn't stop looking at the colour of their skin... they all looked 'warm and glowey' if that makes sense... they no longer looked grey like zombies anymore... it was so awesome!... and of course they all started asking me 'what colour is this and what colour is that' for a little while and then we walked to the front garden to look at all the different coloured flowers that were out there in our yard...

...I just couldn't stop staring at the deep blue to fading blue sky on the horizon as we were walking around there... I looked at one particular flower and had no idea what colour it was so I had to ask... it was purple... what a beautiful colour that is... after looking around my front garden for a while it then dawned on me that all I have ever wanted to really see were the colour of my dear darling wife's eyes (believe it or not) and then walked over to her to see them and she took her glasses off for me to see them... they are a beautiful green colour... it's at that stage that it all overwhelmed me... I started tearing up and then went the full cry... she then hugged me and teared up a tad herself... what a great moment for me...

...our daughter and her husband eventually left I was looking at eveything inside the house... outside the house until it got dark... the differences in wood colours is wonderful... the amazing variety in green foliage is phenomenal... just looking at peoples skin colours is wonderful... I spent that whole night looking on the Internet at Spectrums/Rainbows/flowers and trees/animals/abstract images etc... for the first time in my life I could see my two favourite artists (Leonardo Da Vinci and John Constable) paintings in full colour... absolutely beautiful!...

...needless to say the last few days has been a roller-coaster of colour bombardment for me that I haven't seen for going on 63 years... it truley is overwhelming... I LOVE IT!... and yes... those glasses really do work... (although they may not work for everyone that has colour blindness apparently)... that really was the best $554.47 that I have ever spent in my life!... so much for me being a skeptic about them anymore eh?... I am sooooooo happy as you can all imagine... I just thought that I would share this magical experience with you all (I just had to tell everyone... I just had to... lol!)... the world is truly wonderful you lovely people... it really is!... this is my new favourite song that is sung by Petula Clark... 'Colour My World'...

...as you can imagine... I'm a very happy chappy... I love all you wonderful flesh coloured people... I really do lol!... cheers.
