2016 Today I...

Shameless plug time...

Back in September 2015 I did a write up and comic picture for a book published byhttp://3dtotal.com called “Beginners Guide to Comic Art: Characters.” on how to colour a comic art picture.

This one... “Mercenary”

(pencils by Dmitry Grebenkov, inks by James Goodwin and colours by me)

The book is now available for Pre-order (see link in the text below) and will be released on February 8th. Check that cover!! My picture dead center! :)

The book can be ordered here —> https://shop.3dtotal.com/books/3dtotalp... for the low low price of £16.99 (approx. $US24.99) It’s well worth going to the ‘preview’ tab on the book order page-link there to get an idea of the whole scope of the book as well as my full tutorial contribution.

If you pre-order they throw in some complimentary B5 sized black and white lineart prints to colour for yourself. Plus the book will have links to downloadable resource files such as the pencils, inks and layered coloured file of my Mercenary picture here so you can see for yourself how its done.

Get yours NOW!!!! :)

cheers

Sean

Today I saw a lady busted for shop lifting from Dan Murpheys.

It was actually quite interesting. As I was buying a bottle, some lady pushed past me, "excuse me." No issue. As I walk out I hear yelling from out the front of the shop. The lady who pushed past me was a plain clothes police officer. She's got her badge in one hand, there's some 40 something year old lady yelling. "I don't have to show you what's in my bag." There was also another plain clothes cop. Neither at all you would have picked as cops.

The lady does a quick flash of her bag. They're saying they know she put a bottle in there. She's trying to just be noisy and hoping the cops give up. "I've shown you my bag." She did a quick slight open. She constantly denied. The cops were not at all going to leave her be. She puts the bag on the passenger side, the female cop is standing against the drivers door blocking it. A bit of back and forth. And eventually the lady opened the passenger door and one of the cops removed two bottles of spirits or something and they all went into the store.

It was interesting, because the way the lady was reacting instantly made you 100% aware she was guilty. She thought she could make a big noise and get away with it. Very odd. I don't know if you legally have to open your bag, but if you haven't just shop lifted. You would open your bag and end it. Not try and argue and yell your way out showing what's in your bag.

I would be curious to know how they were onto her. If it was security cameras watching, just them patrolling in plain clothes. The cop didn't seem to be waiting at the door. The second the lady went to exit, she made a B line past me and to the lady. Although maybe the other cop was out the front or waiting.

That makes my experience at Dan Murphy yesterday way less exciting. There was a macho guy in the queue ahead of me with a live snake around his arm.

that was very silly of the lady to make a scene instead of getting it over quickly.

Might have been under the influence already... Rational thought goes out the window in that situation.[DOUBLEPOST=1453762237][/DOUBLEPOST]

When I worked in retail, on some days we would wear our civvie clothes and walk around the store. You get used to watching behaviour. That is the biggest giveaway. That lady probably walked in the store & looked immediately at all the staff etc. That would have put them on alert. When someone is going into a store to shoplift, they always glance at the staff first & see who they think they'll be able to get past without them noticing/caring. People who come to shop always look at the products first. Body language/behaviour will give them away every time.

That reminds me of something Adam Corolla was saying on one of this podcasts the other day. Let me clarify, the only reason I was listening was it was a legal podcast about Making a Murderer. He was making some point about if he tried to shop lift, he'd be all careful and look suspicious because he'd be so worried. Yet if he was just walking, didn't think about it. Put something in his pocked, forget about it. He'd get way.

I'm know a guy who works at a liquor land. He's said they'll sometimes notice people shop lift, but are powerless to stop them. They just need to get those people out of the store ASAP. Then call the cops.

Were you drunk?

I hope not as she was going to drive. She didn't seem or sound drunk.

Not sure what she stole, one looked like a square bottle and red liquid.
