2014 Ratings Thread

Is this what they call a slow death? Whatever spin some of you want to put on these numbers, they AREN'T good. Its sad, but Channel 9 seem to be nailing down the lid on Big Brother.

Yes sorry you are correct. Nine spent millions of dollars to run a show into the ground. Of course they purposefully want the show to die. They have absolutely nothing to gain from airing big brother.

They spent millions of dollars to buy and use the franchise for 3 years. Its pretty obvious, that they have it on air this year, under sufferance, or it wouldnt be hidden away at odd times of the night and on back channels, away from its usual target audience. I bet they will be glad to see the back of it, as soon as possible.

look why is big brother so watered down?

Lack of commitment and money. They are happy to use BB as a filler programme following The Block. Big Brother used to be a big draw, stand alone programme, but what we are seeing now, reeks of poverty and confusion about what to do with it.

Yep, instead of the main event programme of the night, it has now become just the side programme.
As much as I hate to say it, I don't see this coming back next year.. Hopefully it does in some way though. Channel 9 have just done an awful job of it.

Yeah it's such a burden to have a show that is rating number one in its timeslot on many nights in 2 of the most important demos.

"It’s true to say that ratings for Big Brother have not repeated earlier success, but that doesn’t mean the show is necessarily a flop. By contrast, the amount of output generated by the cost is good value for money. It also continues to score well in the lucrative, younger demos."

I still think you work in PR for Channel 9 or Endermol :-).

Sure it may be the best in its timeslot, but it's still poor for what was once a popular show.
If they want to make it a later timeslot, don't make it a "family friendly" version show. Big brother wasn't created to be family friendly everyone. It has lost the purpose of 24/7 filming in my opinion.

Networks care about timeslots. Uf their show is out-rating other networks shows in the same timeslot they get a higher viewer %. These days, it is not about how many people watch, its about demos. Demo=Money. Money=Happy. Channel Nine have made so much money from big brother. 23 million dollars for 3 year contract, plus 5-6 million dollars in other cost is a bargan. They would be making millions off of advertising not to mention sponsors, and at minimal cost.
