2014 Ratings Thread

@Mrs Butterface: You would be extremely surprised by the number of people who only watch shows on the main channel. It's very common for shows to get twice or even 3x as many viewers on the main channel, than what they would on a multichannel.
I really don't get this. Especially if a major show is switched to a multichannel. Who ARE these people ? 😵‍💫

I'd say it doesn't help that the primary channels are 2, 7, 9, 10 and GO/GEM are all the way up at 90/99. So for the people that channel surf or navigate the channels 1 number at a time this is a big task for them ;)

I actually reorganise the channels so that 7 is channel 71, 9 is channel 91, etc. It means each network's channels/shows are grouped together. But most people wouldn't bother with this.

I just have them next to each other in favourites...

Example:

Channel 11 played Simpsons repeats at 6pm. They rated around 130,000 most nights.

When the repeats moved to Ten in the exact same timeslot, the ratings went above 300,000

Repeats of The Big Bang Theory on CH9 get between 700,000 and 900,000 in the 7:30 timeslot. But on GO!, they struggle to get over 300,000 most nights.

When Neighbours moved from Ten to Eleven in early 2011, it lost nearly half its audience.

Some people just don't watch the digital channels for whatever reason.

Look, I'm going to say that I feel, generally speaking, Australians are quite stupid, and stubborn, and that's probably why they seem to struggle to come to terms with having more options. We're a lazy bunch of morons tbh and it's no wonder the multichannels aren't working. "Oh, my favourite show changed channels. Bugger that then." That's literally the sort of mentality that unfortunately a large majority of Australians have. It's disappointing really.

Must be a prerequisite that OzTam have in place that people have an aversion to numbers above ten. 😖

Sunday, 5th October 2014 - Big Brother Sunday

Overnight viewers: 867,000
Ranked in total people: 8

Demographics:
25-54 - #5
18-49 - #5
16-39 - #4

Previous Sunday

Overnight final number - 534,000
Consolidated - 632,000
Increase 98,000 18.4% 7th most timeshifted show of night

I assumed that the 439,00 consolidated was for Thu 25th not 2 Oct so I changed it.
The 439,00 is the actual number for that Thurs (I only have the main channel so far, so this may change) - consolidated will not be known until this Thursday. I ran into a bug editing that day - seems to be OK now - have fixed it :).

Aha! Yeah I noticed that bug too when I went to change it. Was an easy fix luckily.

Welcome to Big Brother 2014 - They should have got Selley's in as a sponsor considering the way they are using the show. It's basically the "No More Gaps" solution to the Channel 9 programming schedule. It's a disgrace. :-/
