Big Brother recruits Aussie rules footy player for this year’s house
http://news.com.au/entertainment/tv/big-brother-recruits-aussie-rules-footy-player-for-this-years-house/story-fn8yvfst-1227042345948

AN AFL identity will be one of the contestants in this year’s Big Brother house, said the show’s executive producer, Alex Mavroidakis.

“One of them has flirted with greatness in Aussie Rules,” he said.

“So there will be a footy boy in there. I’m feeling very good about the housemates that we’ve chosen. I’m feeling very good about the house that we’ve built, and about the ideas that we’ve come up with.”

This isn’t the first time an AFL player has dabbled in reality TV. Former Adelaide Crows player Ryan Fitzgerald was a Big Brother contestant in 2004, and Collingwood’s Darren Jolly is currently appearing on The Block Glasshouse.

As of today (Sunday), the housemates for season 11 are in lockdown ahead of the September 8 launch. This means they are in a hotel for nine days with no phones, no internet and no news.

“Once they hit lockdown we can prepare them for the psychological experience,” Mavroidakis said.

“It really does take a rare kind of person with the resilience needed to go into the Big Brother house. A lot of people will read that and go, ‘What a load of bollocks’, but to be filmed 24 hours a day and have no contact with your family, or be able to text your loved ones, it’s quite confronting.”

The show’s host, Sonia Kruger, 49, announced last week that she is expecting her first child with TV executive partner Craig McPherson.

In an interview with The Australian Women’s Weekly, Kruger said close friend and egg donor who made the pregnancy possible.

She has opened up about her painful several-year journey to become a mum, admitting she is still “worried” about her high-risk pregnancy.
Ohh, is it just me or can anyone else remember a story from last year about a footy player withdrawing from BB before going into the house?

Might just be my imagination though but I swear I can remember reading something similar.

I think I remember something vaguely similar but wasn't that a rugby player in 2012?

Has anyone got access to the Sunday telegraph digital edition? Apparently there's an article which says BB will air SUNDAY - FRIDAY, with shows on Nine except when it clashes with NRL (will air on GO instead). With Sunday - Tuesday being fronted by Sonia.

Here it is @marquisite

The weekly structure of the show has also changed, meaning Kruger will front a Sunday night BB special (9pm), plus host live shows at 8.40pm on Monday and Tuesday nights, with nominations to follow each Wednesday, then a daily wrap of house action on Thursday and Friday nights.

She will likely be replaced part-time on Mornings by fill-in Georgie Gardner, who may take on more duties if Kruger’s juggling act proves too taxing. “I feel great at the moment, I just don’t know how I’m going to go standing in high heels on stage for three hours,” she said.

“Probably towards the end, that’s going to be a little bit difficult, so I might have to have a pair of flats on the side of the stage so I can whip them off in the commercial break.”

Big Brother could cut a girl some slack and build his TV queen a throne, or at the very least, joked Kruger, “I’d settle for a Jason rocker recliner”.

To me, this article is not suggestive that a player will enter.
It could be Andrew Demetriou for all we know? Ha ha

A Sunday show is coming back? Yay!!! I'm so happy! :) :) when does this begin?

I can't see any BB scheduled on Friday for the first week? On Nine or Go?

The 9pm show might be a panel show, Tim did say something about a role on BB this year.

Haha oh God no.

Hasn't Dane Swan recently injured himself and cannot play?

... Or was he preparing for the BB house? :p

Now god damn if that boy goes in I hope they confiscate all of his clothes

Maybe. Chrissie Swan could be involved too? Let's just hope and pray they keep Michael Beveridge away from it if it is a panel show. One of the worst and biggest jerks in the history of big brother housemates ever. @Timdormer please stop any BB 2012 jerks coming on the show.

Ha wow that's a bit extreme, did he say something to offend you?

I really hate the 2012 season. Full of horrible, horrible people. It makes me sick to my stomach that season and in the end to have such a bully (Benjamin) win was sickening.

Michael, Benjamin, Stacey, Layla, Josh, Bradley and Zoe are not nice people at all and I never want to see and hear anything from them ever again. I will switch off BB forever if they have anything to do with Big Brother this year and in the years to come.

Every season I worry we are going to get a repeat of 2012. If that happens I am gone this time. I believed in the format so I gave the 2013 season a chance but I was really really worried. Thankfully 2013 turned out to be a great season and no one was as nasty as the people I mentioned above. So many of my friends have turned off Big Brother forever after that season and won't give it a chance again because of those horrible people. They call it a crap horrible reality show now after they witnessed the nastiness in BB 2012.

So I think what I said was not a bit extreme at all. Those people ruined my favourite TV show Big Brother for me that season. And unfortunately we are stuck with the memory of that year forever.

As mentioned above now every year I am freaking out it will be a crap season filled with those type of people.

You can call me crazy but I am a passionate BB fan!
