FORMER under 16s Mackay Cutters coach Peter Palmer could soon be under the watchful eye of Big Brother in the next season of the hit Channel Nine reality television show.
Mr Palmer, who now lives in Sydney, has made it through to the final stages of the audition process, reaching the final 50.
But Big Brother producers advised Mr Palmer he could not carry out any media interviews, stating it could be deemed as gaining a voting advantage over the other housemates.
A total of 14 housemates will go into the Big Brother house, which is located at the Gold Coast's Dreamworld theme park.
If Mr Palmer is successful in making the final 14, it will not be the first time he has had a stint on reality television.
He was a former contestant on Australian Idol in 2005.
Mackay is a region full of reality stars,
It has produced contestants on The Biggest Loser, X-Factor and The Mole.
Father-daughter team Sam and Jess O'Malley battled it out on the 2013 series of The Biggest Loser and lost more than 35kg each on the show.
They have now dedicated their lives to fitness and own R.E.D Health and Fitness at Rural View.
Mackay North State High School student Aaliyah Warren made it through to the Sydney round of Channel Seven's X-Factor before being eliminated.
Kerry Odger made an appearance in the series return of Channel Seven's The Mole last year.
However, the show was labelled a flop.
It was later moved to a 10.30pm timeslot.
