‘Big Brother: Secrets & Lies’

I couldn't believe what I was hearing when BB cautioned jemma (?) about "racist" language. What is the world coming to?

Yes. Everybody's personal preferences for anything is legally required to include everything. Or you're a racist.

Whether or not the HM's are on to Micheal I think it's fair to say he's succeeding in causing a fair amount of drama in the house so far...

Reaction to the nomination twist:

Disappointing to see Dexter saved... Hopefully it's Sallie who is leaving... I can't stand the sight of her and while she may stir the pot I don't find the drama she's been causing entertaining in the slightest... Gina on the other hand can cause conflict without even opening her mouth... And as I said before I think she has more to gain by being in the house than the likes of Sallie...

I think I like the idea of 3 people going up each week with one of the nominees being dropped from the vote mid week... I think it's a happy compromise between the vote to save and the vote to evict... It might encourage people be more conscious about who they are voting for... And on the other hand it also gives the HM's a bit of a false sense of security...

There's a whole website dedicated to that mentality... http://www.douchebagsofgrindr.com/

Funny you should post that because, as I was yelling at my TV, I thought of the following argument I'd have used if confronted by the same situation:
"I do not want to have sex with men, does that make me homophobic?"
Or, "I like blondes and natural hair colour" which would automatically exclude many races but without it being about race even though, in essence, it means exactly the same thing.

I agree wholeheartedly... In fact that is pretty much the exact argument I used all the time... It's sad that we live in such a PC world that people have lost the ability to think rationally...

This is the first series of BBUK I've watched regularly since the 2008 series. I was really intrigued by having Emma replace Brian. I watched one of the launch shows with him as host and it turned me off a bit, and I didn't bother paying BBUK any attention since, but I'm actually really pleased with the show so far this year. I really like Emma; she's a natural - very relaxed and very professional overall. This year's housemates carry a few deadweights, but overall I'm liking most of them - Dan, Wolfy and the mother and daughter seem like they might go the distance at the moment. It feels a bit early to lose either Sally or Gina, and I'm not sure which one is the right one to go - they've really been the major players this week, but that's usually how it goes.

I think this twist has gone as far as it can though now. If they keep Michael in for another week without doing something radically different, it's going to get tedious. That psychologist on BOTS implied he would be gone Friday, so it may only have been intended as a gimmick for the first week, which is kind of anticlimactic seeing as he was supposedly the "big-twist." I have a feeling our BB might try and copy it this year.

I agree on it being ridiculous that Jemima was given a warning for stating her personal preferences in men - there was nothing offensive in it at all.

Disappointed with the nominations, I think all 3 are strong characters that add to the diversity and conflict in the house.

Sallie may be an awful feral, but I'd rather have her than one of the others who have failed to make any impression.

I really like Gina, Sallie, Dexter, The Twins, Dan and the Mother.

Failed to make an impression? I think it's more that the twist and the fights have gotten in the way of things...

At this point I'm fine with a character like Sallie leaving... Having a volatile character like her gone at this point will most likely encourage others to open up and surely someone else will step up to take her place... It's more what's coming in the next few weeks that's more important...

That would have to have been the most difficult interview ever. Emma did a good job, how disastrous.

Kingston will be very happy. I agree with you Cowie, Sallie is an ignorant, annoying, selfish bitch. She was acting like a child. Emma did a good job though and I loved how Michael was stirring her! Very happy to see Gina stay.

I was on the fence about who was leaving - part of me wanted Gina, part of me wanted Sallie (are we allowed to discuss the result openly now?).

But after watching that interview it is clear that the British public made the best choice of the two. Sallie was entertaining for a while, but she is obnoxious as anything - any longer in there would have inflated her ego. If I was Emma, I would have reached across and given her a slap. As has been said before, being in there will be good for Gina; she'll learn to deal with simpler living and getting to know the other housemates might help her to reassess her own choices in life. She could become a lot more likeable with time.

K, just watched the eviction show and BOTS, really glad Gina stayed now, Sallie was awful in the interview.

The task where Wolfy cried was awesome, I'd love something in BBAU this year, but I can imagine the 'bully' cries already.

I'm watching the eviction as I write this... Thank god that dreadful woman is gone... This is by far the worst interview I've ever seen... She's just spitting the same vile crap she did in the house... I have no sympathy for her not having her suitcase and I'm sick of hearing about it!!!

All that aside it was nice of her to admit that she judged Gina and that after getting to know her, she actually really likes her... I also believe that she's right about Dexter... And getting emotional about Wolfy was touching... So I guess while it was an awful interview and she is such was such a disgusting person on the show she does have a few redeeming qualities...

I'm surprised at my own dislike for her as I actually thought she seemed quite entertaining and someone who wasn't your typical fame-whoring glamor model in her VT... Sadly her behavior was nothing more than selfish, typical, bitchy, and fame-whorish...

I really feel bad for Wolfy... She's really going to need to get over that task or it's going to break her... I really don't think she needed to know that the majority of the public see her that way... You can tell she is absolutely gutted and visibly uncomfortable/distressed...

However it was nice to see the remaining HM's react so well to Micheal's unmasking... It was really good to see Dan who aside from Sallie really gave Micheal a hard time give him a genuine good-bye...

OMG I think the moment of the night for me was Micheal turning to Sallie and saying "You did say a lot of things in there..." I don't know if Micheal was really honestly "acting" in there as it seemed like he slowly evolved from nice postman Micheal to perhaps a larger than life version of the real everyday Micheal...

Whoever is directing the live shows is obviously still an idiot if they thought having her on stage for Micheal's interview was going to work when she could barely get through her own!!! I also can't stand Marcus's booming announcing voice... The narration is one thing and I think I've learned to just tune it out but the countdowns just grate on me... I miss the old understated ones... Lets hope this time next year Marcus is the new Brian as he now really only stands for everything that has been wrong with the show for years now, when aside from a few things this has been one of the best series I've seen in years... So far...

Why the hell is Sallie taking credit for targeting Micheal as an actor? I'm pretty sure it's only been within the last few days that she has... I remember the launch through nominations she was actually a vocal supporter of saying he wasn't... I also hated how she blamed the voting process... Regardless she's shown tonight exactly why she's there and exactly how the house will be better without her...

ETA: I'm kind of a bit taken back after I just ranted on and on about Sallie being such a rotten little bitch and then I came to realize that there are a number of people who view me the same way I view her...

BTW WTF was with Charlie's question to Gina about "escorting"??? I couldn't figure out whether it was meant as an insult, whether Charlie was really just that stupid, or has just been completely oblivious to Gina for the last 6 days...
