Doctor Who

So the ads are non-stop on the ABC so I'm thinking as the "cat is out of the bag" I can say this:

Daleks are back tomorrow night.

They are the "ultimate" baddie in DW in my opinion and as such they should be used sparingly - I want to yearn for their reappearance. I think we are seeing way too much of them and therefore their value as a baddie has been devalued.

Less is more.

Anyone agree/disagree?

-------------------

Geez, I still want to see one fall down a flight of stairs. Must I go to my grave unsatisfied? A lifelong yearning? :(

I sort of agree...to an extent. They are the enemies that appear more.

I think the Master is the greatest enemy of the Doctor. After growing up with the Doctor, he always comes back.

Hehe sadly with the new daleks that may never happen since they now
can < dalek voice > LEV-I-TATE </ dalek voice> But I too would love
seeing one of them fall down stairs....

I do recall in the second of the Peter Cushing movies we saw themn fall
down a mineshaft and an elevator shaft..

I think they are being used WAY too much in the new Who. As others
have said "less is more" and I think they should only be used on rare
occasions or when someone can write a proper story for them.

pffffft. Seeing them too often isn't what devalues them.

It's what RTD does to them that devalues them.

Season 3 ... slowly destroying 40 years of great villians.
Yes. Still disgruntled. Still not over it.

I thought only female Daleks could levitate...😵‍💫

OMG not the daleks!!! I remember them from the original DW when I was about 5 or 6 years old. (Yes I'm an old boiler now). I lived in the UK then and used to watch DW with my Nana & Grandad. They scared me sh!tless. And still do. Can't wait for tonight's episode.

Me too G.L ... 6pm BBC1 on Saturdays. I remember Jon Pertwee episodes were my first Doctor Who memories. Jo Grant in a mini skirt and 70s boots caught my attention at a young age too.

I can relate to that about Jo Grant, but the one I liked the most
was Mary Tamm, the first Romana.

OMG!!!!!! What The F has RTD done to the daleks? He's trampled all
over them and raped their character.

What do you do when you have a day off, go watch the new Harry Potter, buy some new clothes then come home and watch the last 3 eps of Season 3 :D lol
Hmmm i am weird in thinking that the Master is hot? lol I love John Simm he would make an excellent Dr now that would be weird lol

John Simm = Sex on legs:D

I agree...WTF have they done?....Merging the human with the Dalek is a disservice to both:eek:

First he reinvents the Cyber-men, and then starts making Cyber-women, and now this.

There's plenty of room left on the disgruntled couch here with me.

Hopefully the rumour of RTD leaving at the end of S4 are true and Stephen Moffat taking over are true.

An entire season helmed by the man behind Girl in the Fireplace and Blink. oh so sweet.

I am very reticent to have a go at RTD. People seem to be quickly forgetting that if not for him we wouldn't have "New Who." I do disagree with some of the things that have been done, but overall I'm just thankful Who is on the tube again. (Yes Moffat is an interesting possibility, but who knows he might not be able to handle the work that RTD does.)

Ah Burn, Atom has a point without RTD there would be no Who on our screens right now we must be thankful for that... but if he continues to make the daleks good or human i will be on the couch with you Burn lol

I won't fault RTD for bringing Doctor Who back.

But he's doing a great job of ruining 40 years of mythology, in one season at that!

He's turning out to be another George Lucas. Lucas created a wonderful universe but the movies he put out were crap. Other writers did a much better job with Star Wars (read some of the expanded universe novels) just like some writers are doing a better job of writing for Doctor Who.

Thing is though, could we handle an entire season with Stephen Moffet at the helm? It would be a sensory overload. :p

True it could be too much to handle. Moffat is a great Who writer .... although my fave is Gattis, but that's just cos I worship The League of Gentlemen.
