The classic nonsense story that's been rolled out since the dawn of reality TV voting.
Was dumb though they didn't regularly give viewers an extra vote as the evictions happened. Indeed the one thing they didn't copy from BBUK is probably the one thing they should have - giving viewers 5 votes (the standard in UK reality TV voting).
I work in the creative arts (though not TV) and this is happening more and more in my field too.
On one hand, I feel like it's a bit weird for him to confirm this so early to random fans (and how would it even come up)I stumbled across the source of this rumour:

On the other hand I did hear Emily mention multiple times on the stream that he said he wanted to retire, which I thought could have been a joke because she always said it in the context of "he's so sick of us". I could see a dedicated troll taking this nugget of truth and using it to build a lie that he told them he isn't returning. I'd usually wonder if anyone is crazy enough to put that much effort into a troll but after the "reddit production tea" stuff this year you really never know.

Lol - that's wild he was talking to them as himself and not Big Brother. Why tf would he share with active housemates in the diary room that he wants to retire? Breaking the fourth wall tenfold and another bullshit notch on the BB2025 totem pole.
There could be numerous reasons why he wants out. Perhaps it wasn't the homecoming he wanted. Perhaps he didn't like the way the show had been changed. Who knows.
I think he interacted with the fans who were hanging around (and made that casual comment to them) is what I interpreted from that Reddit thread.
It’s also plausible that he was never intended to be the voice this year, and agreed to fill the role in the interim as a temporary favour of sorts, due to whatever broke down between Leon and the company at such short notice.
I do get the vibe that he genuinely kind of hated it tbh
It was just so glaring on the live shows, like chalk and cheese compared to the old era. They used to be slick, polished live events, which you can tell were being produced by seasoned professionals. This new season's live shows were chaotic, with awkward silences and gaps where they seemed to have no idea which camera to cut to or what was going on at all. Whoever was directing Mel should be fired. What an embarrassing shitshow the lives were. IF YOU'RE READING THIS PLEASE CONSIDER A CHANGE OF CAREER IMMEDIATELY.

INTEREEEESTTTING. I had the same issue. I pressed vote for Emily nearly 6 or 7 times and it wouldn’t go through. I finally went back and forwards and was finally able to get my vote in for her by trail and error, I really thought there was something wrong with the interface! So I can attest to this and others might not be as tech savvy as me…
By the way Emily was right on the bottom row on her own in the interface and I suspect that there may have been some interference because of her positioning at the end of the scroll area, so there is legitimacy there that this could have been a much wider problem.

He should be fired for having a personal chitchat with the players to be honest. What a shitshow.
Once they announced Bogano won, I turned it off. Not because I was upset at the result, because I didn't want to torture myself by watching her & her bogan family take over the stage.
I imagined that they would just storm the stage for their 15 mins of fame, take a squillion selfies but not comply with anything to do with the actual finale show. And I could imagine Mel just standing there smiling touching her ear as producers plead with her to ask Coco questions - but by that stage it would be complete chaos.
Why let family onto the stage ? We don't want to see them, they just distract the HM and the interview goes to shit. They've experienced this every time but continue to allow it....
I wonder if they actually believe this is good TV ?? They probably do when you consider the garbage production that was BB this year..
I just wish they producers would swallow their pride and just read social media & sites like this to actually see what viewers want - not what they believe we should be force fed...
I can confirm the same as @BB101 I heard on the livestream that Big Brother said he was going to retire. The context I took it as was retire as big brother as in not doing the role again, not never working again career wise. I remember discussions about it when I commented I heard it as I was so excited that he wasnt going to be the voice again according to how I took it

That’s another BBUK ITV thing, before that during C5 era it was a housemate portraits wall where they would light up blue who was nominated and then go red for evicted housemates, and every so often housemates would comment on who had gone and who they thought would be at the end, etc, but yeah I can see how having the moving versions constantly displayed on the BIG screen might be distracting a little from the immersion sometimes.
Even before that during C4 days those type of things would more appear on some seasons on the spin off shows as part of the set - the moving versions were part of BBLB’s set during UK9 and UK10 and would move to the left hand side in order when evicted for example.
In saying that though even in Channel 4’s run the housemates still every so often saw what their official portraits looked like as they’d be on various equipment as part of tasks etc.
One housemate wasn’t a big fan of theirs that as a throwaway random task BB gave them a camera to set up a DIY photoshoot for a temporary one they used for that week lol. BBUK14 also had the housemate portraits adorning the walls of the bedroom as posters decor.
In some of the seasons I’ve watched so far of Ch 5 BBUK, the suitcase with the prize money has also appeared on that portrait wall near to the final week.
