Gotcha. Seven even has a live BBAU streaming channel of their seasons. I can't see any BB on 9NOW or 10play (no surprise for 10 though. If they did we might be able to get better rips of their early seasons which would be nice). Perhaps you're right and Seven will lose their rights mid-2025, but for now they still have a hold on it. I'd think Nine could probably get some views for their seasons if they were to put them up. I wonder if it's a rights issue or just their choice not to make them available.

Also I wonder if the voting numbers coming up all the time would mean Nine/10 would have to edit/modify all their eps so people watching wouldn't try to vote :laugh: That's obviously not an issue for Seven.

I doubt I will watch the BB channel, but I can see why someone who watched the seasons would flick it on.

I doubt TEN or NINE could legally show their seasons in repeat. The rights would revert to Endemol Shine.

Seven's shows were made with 1080p copies for streaming. It's easy for them. It'd be interesting to know how easy or if it's even be possible to convert the original masters of the episodes into a format suitable for streaming. The difficulty would be if the video files of the episodes still exist, ease of acces and the availability of time and resources to get them into a format or version suitable for streaming. Who knows, maybe ES has really good archiving and digital migration, but I'm sure BB would be low on the list.

I think it'd be cool if every 6 months of so they put a new season up on Paramount+

This speaks more to 7’s shitty format than it does the cast.

I will use an example from the autistic adults social group to explain the concept of a cast failing to fire:

A few years ago i recruited a heap of autistic mates from various unconnected areas of my life to join the group, they all took to it like a duck to water, meshed really well with not only each other but our existing members, and continued to attend and contribute to our events for years.

A few months ago i recruited another round of autistic people from various unconnected areas of my life to join the group, i thought i had nailed it, but most of them have only gone onto become one-show-wonders and ended up sitting in the corner on their phones until end of the event.

These types of closed off social environments (big brother houses and autism community groups) can cause strange responses from participants.
 
Yes - casting is one thing I'll largely give Seven some credit for. Where they failed in the first couple of series at least was basing the edit around one person, especially when that person was as dull as Kieran. Not sure if that was a problem in the third series as I skipped that one (I imagine Tim dominated the edit though, which is partly why I skipped it!) but the edit was much fairer to all HMs in the final series.

the point i am trying to make is you can cast what you think are a cracker bunch but they can fail to live up to expectations and not deliver much content.
 
10 will get the casting right for big brother, you just have to look at how they cast Masterchef and survivor to see that… this years survivor will be similar to the big brother cast.

Kieran was casted for the casual viewers; those who tune into BB once every week instead of once every day like the regulars.

It’s cast not casted 🙄 Also the minute you start making a show for the casual viewer is the minute you’ve lost the plot. If you’ve kept the loyal fans happy you’ve already got the casuals and especially with the live feeds returning you’re also going to have some turn over from casual to the fan club.

Casting for casual viewers does not sound like good business sense to me. Wouldn't a better business model be to cast people that bring viewers back each day to see more of them? (or in a world with live viewing make them curious enough to tune into that after a daily show)
 
Im wondering on Eviction and how they plan to do this...
I was wondering whether a subscription account to the streaming channels planned would include the ability to vote.. Like a $5 per week subscription gains you the right to vote and access certain extra coverage ?
 
It will be interesting to see if TEN goes with the traditional 55c phone vote method or the modern British method of using an app with a certain number of votes allowed per user

Phone voting seems such a dated model now, but I'm sure 10 would like the revenue so it'll be interesting to see how they monetise it.

Mix of the two? In the early C5 seasons of BBUK buying credits on FB was an option and I can’t see why they couldn’t sell credits via an app? That said premium voting does seem to be a thing of the past for what it’s worth they might as well sell a sponsorship similar to how BBCAN’s free live feeds were sponsored.
 
I would have thought that they would use the same voting method as they do for I’m a Celeb, which is all free through the 10 website, isn’t it? It would be odd to have voting free for one show but have to pay for another.

They’ll model it like they do with I’m a celeb.. online voting through the 10play app

I personally can’t see them going back to the original phone/text style. But Australian idol has the traditional voting style, so never say never and if they’re looking for the whole demographic in viewers, then maybe they would use it.
