BBAU 2025 house location - Speculation & discussion

Two adjacent studios or one large sound stage will likely do the job for both house and eviction set (and production too) but would be little opportunity for commercial revenue compared to a theme park location. Practically though how many theme parks have the land to be able to both host the live shows and then a house near enough to be practical but far enough away that the day to day activity of the theme park doesn't compromise the production. I suspect like Dreamworld if other theme parks do have excess land they've probably sold it off over the years.
Personally I think a new start is required and a theme park location may bring negative rather than positive comparisons to the original 10 run, but if it does cover the costs of the house through sponsorship deals then it's a no brainer from 10's perspective.

I personally don’t think it would be a negative thing having it at a theme park… sponsorships would come in easier for them.
Also it would make more sense having it located at a theme park. Everyone in Australia knows where they’re located, it’s an attraction and easy assessable!
If they go for a location like Docklands or a location near the Brisbane entertainment centre, it’s going to be harder to draw in outer-state people to visit in my opinion… they have to be smart about the house location.
I think you're right. They'll take Seven's approach and build the "house" inside an existing structure. Launch/eviction stage area doesn't need to hold 3000 people or whatever either, they can scale that back to 500 maybe.

Masked singer, traitors and bachelor were really expensive to make.. they don’t have to pay a big fee for them and also the rentals for the houses weren’t cheap.
I think 10 has more money to actually spend on making big brother a good production and if they’re building the house from scratch then it won’t be cheap and I think they’ve really thought about the budget for it… they’ve seen the responses from the fans about how 7s house looked so cheap and the backyard was so small, 10 will be looking to make the yard bigger.

After the first couple of seasons the BB house really just became a giant shed with a yard they built a new house set in each year. 7 was just particularly bad at completing the set and had to work with structures not designed with this in mind.
Yes, I remember the obviously bouncing floors, and their "Fitness First" bathroom
- it looked so incredibly cheap. I don't think 10 is going to pour cash into a whole new structure though like they did at DW. They'll probably do like Seven but (hopefully) better.

It’ll be a lot easier to remodel the house like they did with the dreamworld house, they wouldn’t be restricted to build like they would if they used a shed/bunker like 7 did.

Yes - people forget the Dreamworld house was basically a purpose built studio, unlike the early European houses which were literally a load of portacabins or containers stuck together.

At the end of the day, BB is just another TV production, hence the house is really a set, and the compound a studio (as it should be).

I’d love them to do another purpose built compound but I feel like those days for free to air TV here are.. done? Ten have always spent well when producing reality TV, I feel like they can pull it off really well even on a refined budget
I loved how Australian the design of the 2001/02 house felt and I hope they go in that direction again in 2025 instead of the super tacky futuristic cyber themes that 7 kept trying to make work.

At the 2019 Gold Coast Commonwealth games I went to Movieworld sound stages for squash and boxing. One sound stage can hold 4 adjacent quash courts & a central "show court", they are huge. We all had to be bussed in because there's no parking for thousands of spectators. Talking to the staff they said the sound stages are booked well in advance, there's a lot going on there. There's an adjacent golf driving range.
I went to some of the 2005/2006 live shows & behind the windows there was a large amount of broadcast equipment and lots of flashing lights, would have cost a fortune.

Forgive me, I'm not up to speed with how production companies, or any broadcasting like news etc. keep their footage stored. Being such a mammoth production, would BB rely on cloud storage? Or physically keep terabytes of data saved?
We would have to assume that broadcasting technology has advanced over the last 10 years since it last aired on 9. The costs, however, would still be substantial.

Most likely have a multi set up, just in case 1 fails or something happens and they can’t retrieve the footage..
And depending if they’re going to record the show in 4K or 1080..

No guarantee that their Australian branch uses this software but a couple of years ago Endemol has announced a deal for a cloud system based on Microsoft Azure.
I know when Germany switched to tapeless recording, they've still kept some backups on tape but a lot less. I think it was a reduction by 90% or so. But that was in the Noughties.. so things might have changed there, too.

In regard to the new house, do you think they'll make it bigger than the original Dreamworld house? Will they just keep it simple?
Audience wise, do you think they'd be looking at a location that can hold a larger or smaller capacity? They used to cut the auditiorim down to a third of its normal size when they did the special shows, Nominations and FNL. Will they even have an audience? So many questions, yet so long to wait for official answers

I expect the house and audiences will be scaled back compared to 10's previous seasons. I don't think it'll come close to the 2003-2005 era. It's going to be much harder to get major sponsors on board, especially if they look at Seven's ratings.
