BBUK returns Sun 8 Oct 2023 (and Celeb BB back in 2024)

I only had time to watch up until the eviction. My internet in Zurich was also shit, I miss my home wifi so much! So I’ll catch up on the rest tonight. But it did feel a bit too gimmicky for me.

And apparently this Friday is a double?!

It is, they announced it on Late and Live. Watch it be a predictable eviction of Dylan, Trish and Noky being nominated with Dylan and Noky going ....

Tom I actually don’t mind. He has funny moments. If anything I wouldn’t really feel much if Noky left. But after Dylan goes I don’t actively dislike anyone left.

I am however rooting for the Jordan,Henry,Trish,Yinrun and Matty group.

Same actually, I just find Tom kind of selfish and rude. Him, Paul and Olivia bring out the worst in each other.

I shamefully have to admit that if I was in there, I’d probably get along with those 3 the most. And I’d probably be up late playing around in the bedroom late at night too. I’m an immature little kid like them lol

I picked Tom out as a potential winner in the first week and think he is exactly the sort who usually makes the final. I do find him quite funny but I think he needs Paul to go to reach his full potential - love that friendship he has going on with Jordan now after they clashed a bit (over washing up) in week one.

Similarly I want Jenkin out to release Chanelle back into the house.

Usually I don't like the sort of evictions that we saw yesterday, but it probably worked out for the best since it was Kerry that got evicted. Otherwise she likely would've walked out to boos and jeers if it had been a proper eviction given we've gotten the chanting the last few weeks. So at least she got to skip all of that and have a better experience leaving.

That’s exactly how I feel too. She at least got to have a positive experience with the interview and did avoid a very negative one.

Sadly the show up to it's old dirty tricks which saw viewers lose trust in it over at C5. There are four nominees up this week for a double eviction. The expectation is that for a double the three or more nominees with the most votes would be up - which would be:

Dylan (7), Noky (6), Trish (5)

Now arguably two of those are only up due to producers betraying their secret task anyway... but two wrongs don't make a right. They've added a fourth nominee...

Paul (4)

But he didn't have the votes to be in the top three so technically shouldn't be up. OK, it can be argued the never claimed only three would face a double eviction but that's part of the problem - the rules of the game are not set out for all to see. It smells of producer manipulation - and that is what killed the franchise at C5.

SPOILERS AHEAD:

FWIW I'd rather the 4th nominee went - but as I don't think he is up fairly and squarely I'm not bothered if he stayed. But then two of the other three aren't either - and arguably even without the bullshit of the last few days these four were likely candidates anyway. However it all feels lacking in integrity.

The Twitter fans want Dylan and Paul out, the Facebook mums want Noky and Trish out (how dare women be clever and independent, and god forbid attractive - and how dare they play a game on a game they applied to play!). I suspect it'll end up being one of each - probably Dylan and Noky.

That whole toxic Paul, Jenkin, Tom, Olivia group need to go. Tom and Jenkin are giving big pick me energy and are so desperate to fit in.

They were probably the people that tried to be close to bullies at school just so they weren't alone.

I usually find guy & guy flirting and loves super cute and romantic etc but I am finding Matty and Jordan awkward to watch. Is it because we aren't being shown their friendship/getting to know each other chats and we just see the awkward flirting

Personally I’d rather the four face eviction than three, it would at least keep secret to the house who the “most saved” person was. And in fairness BBAU also had four nominees back on TEN when generic doubles occurred through BB6 and 7.

But revealing to the house that Noky and Trish were possessed was so ridiculous. And predictably it has lead to a lot of cop out nominations. Anyone who watched the previous episode (even if that’s the only episode they’ve watched) could easily guess the four that were going to be nominated.

Dylan is definitely dead man walking this week. I personally am looking forward to him being humbled by the booing crowd. The second evicted could really be any of the other three. Paul would be ideal but I’d rather Noky leave over Trish.

I’m also getting tired of the love triangle storyline now. It’s obviously not leading to anything and I actually feel bad for Henry. I’d rather see more of Jordan away from this narrative. But I’d fall for Matty too, he’s so gorgeous.

I'm surprised how many people don't mind the unclear nominations rules. I think the British fans used to be among the fans that were the most respectful of the format. I always found it fascinating in the 00s that German viewers were crying for people to be ejected for bad behaviour, whereas British viewers would rather get mad at producers for ejecting people and taking away their chance to evict assholes. There were people in the forums that wouldn't get British fans that disliking Channel 5's move to voto to save. And nobody cared about Channel 5 making up the rules along the way with "4 in, 4 out" being an especially low point in the show's history.

But that British mentality towards the show seems mostly gone now, on social media anyways. Granted, a few might just tolerate unclear rules because it benefits them this time, but that doesn't make things better.

Ok caught up. Torrent availability has been difficult the past few days and my DNS Unblocker has stopped working 😭

Pretty much agree with all that has been said. BB revealing the possessed housemates was real shit. It would have come out eventually, just let them stew in their juices for a while.

I find it funny that housemates are saying Noky is two faced. I think people are misjudging her natural avoidance of conflict. Dylan is quite two faced... he's just really bad at keeping up the second face when he gets angry. But now we've all seen it. Back during the ant task an initial red flag flashed for me when there were jokes about women being involved in the strength test - Dylan out of nowhere made a big deal about "oh, don't get started on that equality stuff" and his tone was serious. First major slip of the mask, and then downhill from there.

Agree that we need to move on from the food story lines... it's starting to drag. Like, Henry just revealed that him and Jordan had kissed 5 times? When was that? Although, I think the steam is already out of the love triangle storyline and it's heading to a dead end. Matty is obviously over everyone's bullshit and I doubt he'll play along much longer.

Paul, Jenkin, Tom and Olivia continue to devolve into bratty, bitter little trolls. I had noticed Jenkin was increasingly becoming a buzzkill and now he's been sucked into their circle fully it seems. The bedroom icing out of Chanelle was quite literally a scene from a high school.

Paul might have even worse tunnel vision than Dylan. Despite his generic smooth-brain proclamations in previous weeks of wanting good vibes in the house and "what you see is what you get with me", he's become the most meddling of the bunch and has the least consideration of others. He's the most generic, forgettable photocopy of a dumb lad.

I hope the two lad-babies get evicted this week.

BITCHY HOUSEMATE REVIEW
  • Chanelle - The personification of low battery mode.
  • Dylan - Aged out, testosterone depleted and soon to be cancelled.
  • Henry - Interesting to watch and often insightful but I don't think he has what it takes to win. Will probably revert to hardcore Tory after the show and I hate gay conservatives.
  • Jenkin - Black hole ready to suck the fun out of any situation. Do not cross his event horizon.
  • Jordan - Sharp and witty but he will quickly wear out audience good-will with his hot-and-cold love triangle pontifications.
  • Matty - Probably regretting coming on the show at this point.
  • Noky - Copping a whole lot of latent misogyny. I guarantee that if the housemates didn't know she had been a beauty pageant contestant, she wouldn't be getting anywhere near the amount of comments of being "two faced" and "putting on a show for the cameras".
  • Olivia - Queen of the brats. Unfortunately, she's also quite intelligent which allows her to laser-focus her brattiness to be extra cutting.
  • Paul - The kind of driftwood you throw back into the ocean.
  • Tom - The guy who wants to be the kind of driftwood you throw back into the ocean.
  • Trish - Quite possibly the only one being the realest.
  • Yinrun - Sleepwalking to the finale, but still fun.
