Just finished the launch.
Titles and theme: The rainbow colouring is a little basic but the close up faces gave me nostalgic vibes. New theme song is great.
Launch show: I get it's 2023 and you need to get straight to the point but the pacing of the show was a little odd. Did some of the housemates give really dull interviews and that's why they were cut? A few camera changes to loved ones in the audience who were never introduced.
I do remember back when BBAU ditched having truely live launches (because of us streaming the audio? hehe) that we had the same complaints about odd editing. I guess when you don't have enough footage to play around with you make do. I found the party games fairly cute and nostalgic.
The production values of the exploding suitcase were shockingly bad.
Housemates: Seems like really good casting. A few predictable BBUK type moments. Like when Trish said in her intro that she hates Tories, I thought "100% certainty that three housemates later we're going to have a loud wanky Tory". Sure enough! I want to see Chanelle get white girl wasted. Need shower pix of Dylan asap
Hosts: What in the actual fuck? There is like... zero chemistry or charisma between them? It felt like I was watching AI reconstitute previous hosts. It seems like off-camera they secretly hate each other.
House: At this stage I could take it or leave it. I like that it's bigger but there's not really any consistent design to it - just max out the colours which has been happening in BB houses for some time now. Maybe trying to go for nostalgic factor again?
BB Voice: Are they going to try and use the same voice for the whole season? Cos that is shit. The "cheeky" Big Brother personality wasn't nearly as bad as BBAU but still not great.
Overall: Loved it. Nostalgic romp. But keyword is definitely nostalgic. Did ITV say they were trying to change up the format? (I wasn't paying attention to the lead-up). Because it certainly seemed like they were trying to go in the nostalgic direction with the launch.
